He turned us down last year for a slightly better wage after we were well down the road on his signing-i.e here's your shirt. That doesn't scream ambition.  He can enjoy Burton again next season.

TBF more money is some people’s idea of ambition.

Also, at that stage, Oxford’s squad probably looked more competitive than ours.

Still worth checking to see whether he feels he can play Championship football in front of a big crowd.

Trawling through Transfermarkt has been my favourite past-time for the last few weeks!

I know it's only been 2 days but I'm impatient already... Judging by past performance, I assume Derby's recruitment team have players lined up already, but we'll be waiting for promotions, relegations, play-offs, retention lists, and the slow grind of hundreds of negotiations before the deals start rolling in.

    Free Transfer Squad
    GK - Christian Walton/Cameron Dawson
    LB - Harrison Burrows/Max Lowe
    RB - Ben Johnson/Jayden Bogle
CB - Josh Knight/Axel Tuanzebe/Paddy McNair (Nathaniel Phillips contracted until 2025 but could be got for nothing from Liverpool, I reckon)
    DM - Nathaniel Chalobah/Dominic Ball/Joe Morrell/Bosun Lawal (loan)
    CM/AM - Callum O'Hare/Gary Gardner/Stuart Armstrong/Herbie Kane/Josh Windass
    W - Tyrhys Dolan/Chris Willock
    FW - Jonson C-H/Daniel Jebbison/Devante Cole/Oli McBurnie/Danny Welbeck

I'm also slightly obsessed by Josh Onomah not signing for anyone.....since last July....why?

Trouble is, a lot of the players who are available have been pretty mediocre in the Championship.

It was different when we were assessing how good they might be in League One, but why would we anticipate they would improve in the Championship next season with us?

I think we might go for a few of the better young players in League One, plus a couple of better performers from relegated clubs and some premier league loans.

I’ve seen Lawal mentioned and whilst he would be great, I think Celtic want him back.

Aasgard, Randall and Kane would strengthen the midfield, Mark Harris upfront, with Bacuna and Azeez would be good additions.

Bradley never gets his props does he, clean sheet and an assist yesterday. Absolute menace from any set piece.

He has played much better since the sending off. I wouldn’t like to see him in a pairing but in a three, he mops up behind the other two. I still think a strong centre forward will always outmuscle him. He’s too easy to push off the ball. Nyambe not so.

When Nyambe is fit, I think we should revert to a four with him at RB.

Wilson/Ward could then be on the right of a four man midfield.

I wouldnt loan out Thompson, he is full of energy and a decent player. Good utility player, midlield or full back.

Full of energy, but does little creatively or defensively. Barely good enough for League One, let alone the Championship.

    Sorry - just my opinion.

You can't really build the atmosphere inside the ground because of the crap music played too loudly,  although it will probably be bouncing in the South stand concourse.

I'll probably have 3 or 4 pre match pints, but am out that night,  so saving myself.

I think the music choices have been okay TBF.

Yes, it’s loud but we’re all old gits in our area and toes are tapped.

I might have one drink before the game but no more than that.

I like to focus on the play, not abuse the opposition with a vocabulary of about ten words, most of them involving defecation of some kind or another.

I'm presuming that Curtis Nelson will get his POTS award pitchside pre-game? That's worth turning up early for, imo.

Yes, let’s get the crowd in position well before kickoff and get the place buzzing.

    Close the concourse bars early.

Yep, just listened to the Rams Daily podcast on bbc sounds for the pre match presser, only provided updates on Gayle and TJJ.

Said Gayle is rejoining training today ahead of schedule because he wants to be involved on Saturday (Warne did make a comment about not taking a risk as if the worst does happen on Saturday he’d need him for the playoffs but I think that’s a bit of gamesmanship from Warne). He also said John-Jules was the best in training on Tuesday. So we could have a strong squad to choose from for Saturday.

I think Warne is trying to make everyone part of Saturday’s excitement.

Training with ‘the lads’ will boost their spirits and make them feel part of a winning

We can’t risk having players on the bench who aren’t fully fit. If a forward gets injured after ten minutes would either Gayle or TJJ be able to play 80?

    I don’t think so.

Shame, because the two Ws play like, well two Ws.

Scores based on what have they contributed so far, relative to their maximum potential contribution since signing......not just on how good I think they are........or what they may contribute in future.

A lot of the non-contribution is a result of injury - we could have signed Mbappe and he could have got injured after 1 game and in my book that would have made him a 1/10

    Summer window:

Curtis Nelson...9/10.....couple of iffy games early on and then magnificent. Always fit
Callum Elder.....3/10......often injured.....poor in early games.....very promising in later games.....much higher hopes for next season
Joe Ward.....4/10........really like him, season badly affected by injury. Some costly pens against but coming very good before latest injury
Sonny Bradley....5/10...awful start, slow re-integration but coming good. Always fit
    Josh Vickers......5/10.....good back-up. Harsh to give a 5 but he's hardly played.
Kane Wilson.....7.5/10.....completely smashed my expectations after a poor start (v Blackpool?). Always fit
Martyn Waghorn.....4/10.......10/10 v Posh away, injured then not regained any sort of form
Conor Washington....4/10.....lively, committed but big injury lay-off
Tyrese Fornah......2/10.......probably a good player in there but clearly not PW's cup of tea so not contributed much
Elliot Embleton......1/10......almost N/A because of injury
Ryan Nyambe........4.5/10....best defensive full back in the league when not injured or at Afcon
Tyreece John-Jules....2/10......classy touches and a goal at PV but not fit enough for long enough

    Winter:

Ebou Adams.....9/10.....Best new signing of the season. Always fit
Dwight Gayle.....5/10.....if he'd stayed fit I'm sure I'd have given him an 8 or 9 and we'd already be up
Corey Blackett-Taylor.....2/10.....genuinely hope he comes good and has shown glimpses of what he can do
Max Bird*.....5/10.....been injured a lot since  'coming back' on loan

    Extensions:
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.....7.5/10.....A bit down on form since contract extension but still fantastic. Always fit
Eiran Cashin....9/10......Excellent. Always fit. Best signing of the season. Great player or megabucks for the club next season.
Jake Rooney.....N/A.....if he can live with the pace of the Champ (fingers crossed) he'll be a big asset. My worry is he's too slow.

You are Craig Revel Horwood and I claim my £5.
