It’s difficult with Ed. You know he’s a fan so I have some sympathy, but he is so petulant, gloom ridden and full of a sort of “I told you so” followed by a spoilt pout

How anybody can miss Ramage is beyond me. It was just loud noise. Shouting loud nonsense does not equate to ‘passion’.
However, any commentary will be bad with Ed Dawes in the chair. Worst commentator Radio Derby have ever had.
TBF I haven’t heard Adam Bolder as I am boycotting RD until such time as they see sense and let Dawes go.

I said I wouldn't be listening until such time as Ed Dawes is no longer the commentator.  That isn't quite the same as 'actively' wanting somebody out of a job is it? I'm not mounting a campaign against him, picketing Radio Derby headquarters until he is fired, going on hunger strike until they replace him with somebody less obnoxious, asking my MP to ask questions in the house or organising a march. No, I made a throwaway remark on an internet forum. But thanks for trying to make me feel bad about it. He can - and will - stay at Radio Derby as long as either he wants to , or as long the station want him (he might not be 'let go' for many many years). I just won't be listening. Which I'm sure is no skin of anybody's nose.

I’m not sure anyone can suggest he doesn’t work hard.  Criticise his lack of end product by all means but he’s definitely a trier.  Seems to lack a bit of confidence to me. His performances in the Euros suggest he’s talented and yesterday he was at least trying to carry the ball, something we did not do enough of.
It’s probably best to support him and provide encouragement rather than pick him to pieces.
Wish he’d have put his laces through that opportunity in the second half.

    He'll be fine.
You can cut and past the criticism of him with just about every wide forward we've had in the last ten years. We've seen these comments about Weimann, Russell, Ince, Lawrence, and so on at vairious points.
He's been disappointing because he was quite a big investment for us but I don't buy that he's either not trying or offering nothing. Given the state we're in we're going to need him. bit of confidance and some end product would be nice but lets not get all scapegoat after one inconclusive game into the season.

I quite like him. Wasn’t nearly as bad yesterday as some people are suggesting. I accept he needs to improve his ‘end result’, but doesn’t necessarily equate to getting rid. Keep and nurture.

Some pretty harsh opinions being expressed about a couple of players I think. Criticism of Bird in particular, who I thought was tidy and assured, if not spectacular.
I managed to get ‘my’ seat and unfortunately so did the blokes who sit around me who, while extolling the virtues of a crowd being at the ground to ‘support the lads’ took a whole 11 minutes to fall into their usual ‘moaning old gits ’ mode and proceeded to slag off every Derby player on the pitch for the next 80 mins. They love a scapegoat and Jozwiak seems to be the man of the moment. To be fair, they’ve waited a long time to vent their spleens to anybody who is forced to listen, so I’m sure it was a lot of fun for them. It is amazing though how quickly they rolled back the years and got into their ‘groove’.

I’m not suggesting it was a performance without criticism, but considering the build up, it wasn’t terrible. We obviously need to work on defending set pieces (something I’ve been saying for 40 years) and give fewer free kicks away (very naive at times). Cutting down the number of chances we allow from these areas should be of paramount importance. But overall defending from open play was OK.
We’re obviously not going to score a bag full of goals, so a solid back 4 is imperative.

Best thing about yesterday was that given all the talk of protests and abusing Mel, the atmosphere was actually quite chilled and positive (apart from the chuckle brothers who sit near me). Might not have been that way if we’d gone 1-0 down or lost, but it was nice all the same.

You do know Wayne has previously said in an interview he wants LR to be the more vocal one on the touch line?
Also, you really think Wayne won't say anything if he didn't like or want it?
Personally I think LR has a far better footballing knowledge of a brain than WR has.

    Totally disagree.
Firstly, Bird's primary role playing at DM is controlling the tempo, which he does by knocking pop passes around (wrongly tarred as pointless sideways passes) whilst looking for forward players in space. He's also very under-rated defensively & often cuts out attacks with his positional intelligence as opposed to Shinnie's terrier like approach.
Secondly, he is very capable of playing killer passes. There were a couple in the Salford friendly & plenty from last season (Luton away, Huddersfield away criminally flagged offside & Boro at home..just off top of my head).
My main criticism of him is that he needs to move into space a bit more, like he did when he first got into the team last Jan. Also believe he needs to be more advanced & central but thats a fault of current tactics rather than the player himself. Fully believe he's a very good player in the making & that opinion shared by those in the know...Cocu made him captain & Rooney has spoken about him one day being England quality.

They have showed incredible dedication in signing for way below the going rate, so I for one applaud them and I am not going to use words like 'god awful'. 'Thank you' would be more appropriate.
