Not many from those , most come from free form crosses not free kick crosses or  corners. Bradley & Cashin head upwards its a joke given all the practice they get.

The issue was we never looked threatening or as if we were going to score. Until a goalkeeping howler on the 88th minute. We brought the ball forward, made sure we worked it out onto the wing rather than (heaven forbid) going through the middle and shooting, and then chipped the ball into the box for Crewe to head away. That was the majority of the game. Eventually we also shot, but really badly, as if we weren't concentrating or interested. Never testing the keeper.
Yes, in many ways it was better because we had a lot of control of the football against a mix of the Crewe reserve and youth teams. But fair criticism of Warne is that he has set us up to play in this toothless fashion, without goalscorers. For instance, what was Korey Smith doing playing in midfield, who I think has scored one goal in the last decade or something? Warne's substitutions, instead of changing it at half-time, weren't until the 70th minute when he brought on two right backs and a central defender, and took one striker off to bring another striker on.
The manager got out of jail at the end. And afterwards said he was delighted with the performance and still would have been if we'd lost 2-0.

Having sat and watched the League One leaders lose at Chesterfield, fielding their strongest team, but Chesterfield deservedly winning, I did wonder what Derby’s match at Crewe had in store.
Warne, I think rightly, did not change a winning team, many on here seem to urge that. Derby battered the Crewe penalty area constantly for most of the first half. Crewe often had 8/9 men in their penalty area at times, which was very congested. We did try a variety of methods to score, playing passes to try and break through the lines, to no avail. We then resorted to mainly cross the ball, usually failing to hit a Derby player. If there was a diffence from Tuesday night it was a lack of movement from the front players, to try and create space. Unfortunately, Fonzie had an off day with his passing, sometimes because of lack of movement in front of him, and the falling asleep for their first goal.
in the second half, we were still dominant in possession but particularly Hourihane slowed the game too much, in my opinion, maybe trying to look confident that we would get back in game. The 2nd game was again poor defending from both Bradley and Nelson. That led to Crewe packing their Area with even more men, had some luck but also were let off by some poor score scoring efforts.
The subs did have an effect, freshening things up and eventually Derby scored the goals which gave them what they deserved. Well done for continuing to believe. Contrary to what some think, there is good spirit and they are playing for the Head Coach. As someone else said, Hourihane up his game tempo and was very important in the revival. Derby tried to play along the ground as much as possible, but trying to play through the centre of the defence was virtually impossible. Our standard of crossing improved a bit with Ward and to a lesser extent Wilson. Think Ward will be very important when he becomes match fit.
some of the comments on here during the match were embarrassingl and laughable. Special mention too to Crewe, who made it extremely difficult with their determination and hard work. Having watched the match against Northampton, their Manager wasn’t going to give Derby the amount of space they enjoyed on Tuesday.
Apart from a couple of pieces of defending and our finishing, it was a reasonable performance and no where near as bad as the Warne Out people are portraying. It was Crewe’s Cup Final - Chesterfield won theirs quite convincingly against Portsmouth!

It's hardly 'tick box' if there is a determined effort to increase diversity across the board by PGMOL. That's a plan.
Tick box is when there is a small concession to appease people whilst largely carrying on as before. Often by appointing someone not good enough to do the job.  That's the illusion of a plan.
Personally I think that good referees should be promoted and drawing attention to the fact that they are good will only encourage new people from more diverse backgrounds to take up refereeing and it become the norm.
I remember when there were comments about Sian Massey-Ellis on here every time she ran the line at our game. Now she doesn't even warrant a mention! She was, of course, very good again on Tuesday night.
Wished all our assistant referees were as good as Sian and referees as good as Rebecca.

You've made a lot of generalisations and group a lot of people in with the 'extremists' to make a point. As one of the more vocal "Outers", I'm sure you'll find a number of my posts where I've made "personal and irrelevant attacks on how [Warne] looks, talks and dresses" and following last night's win, the posts where I've been attacking Collins. In fact, since all "Outers" are as you describe, you shouldn't have much problem finding 10 "personal and irrelevant attacks" on Warne or Collins from 10 different people.

The most important thing Warne needs now is consistency. If we played like we did last night, he’d have next to nobody wanting him out, even if we did come off 3-1 losers to Stevenage.
We have showed on a couple of occasions that we can play good football and get good results, if we just revert back to poor football and poor results, it’s even more frustrating.
He deserves credit for the victory last night in the same way as he deserves criticism for games like Saturday. If we just perform hot & cold, we aren’t going to progress. Hopefully it’s something to build on.

You're quite right @David but it isn't just an element of snobbery. I can expand (Oh May-tron! etc).
    1. Initially, I have been underwhelmed with PW's transfer business. Admittedly, as has been debated, we don't know the detail {budget-constraints, EFL cap, mal-influence of agents, state of the market etc} but nevertheless underwhelmed. Apart from pre-season Stoke and last night, Sonny Bradley looked "shot/jelly-legs" and accident prone. Elder, injured and invisible when played. Ward, not mobile. Fornah I like and he has a future, but J-J injured. Nelson looked iffy to begin with (but now a tank) and Washington initially looked quite mobile but off the pace still and with no obvious skill-set above being a squad-man. Last night Washington looked 15 yards quicker; that drop of the shoulder as he outpaced their defender was sublime, an expression from a footballer very much "in the zone" and his finish proved it. Was it a flash-in-the-pan - we'll see.
    2. So the "Rotherham" thing was a question-mark about PW's horizon really; not an expression of snobbery {though there may be that from some fans}. Some, including myself, have questioned whether Warne has been somewhat institutionalised by his Rotherham background and that he may have a tendency not to see beyond what he experienced/learned and believes as a result. His outward appreciation of Steve Evans last week {not a problem per se} was also a Rotherham link but in hindsight not good given what his team then did to us; His warm-words then looked obsequious and starry-eyed especially given the view that most fans have of Steve Evans from his rather "Neanderthal" dealings with Nigel Clough.
    3. Having been a big supporter of PW, my jury is now out and it is since Stevanage ; last night really helped me to begin to re-evaluate again and more consistent displays of good team-based football playing through midfield will put PW back in with me.
    4. That said - I don't like to hear PW say words to the effect of "fans must accept and "get real" that Derby County is a mid-table Third Division side". That and words to that effect obviously suit his agenda of building realism but are very ill-advised to use because it implies that he is accepting of that deep down when he is the one chap who should, of all the people in Pride Park stadium, least accept it and convey to the players that being a mid-table 3rd division side is NOT at all acceptable.  Again, it implies that his horizons don't extend beyond 45.5 miles north of Derby. Derby County is a big club, with a huge history and has a defining place in the history of football in England. It's not conceited to say it, and to lead it in 2023 requires a Big Club mentality. I have questioned of late, if PW has a big enough "vision" to understand that. In contrast, I warmly remember a young, handsome Peter Taylor, circa 1968/9 looking in to the camera and saying "I'm Peter Taylor and I'm going to the very top with Brian Clough and Derby County". He didn't say "Derby County fans must realise that they are a mid-table 2nd Division side and wind their necks in because I'm not used to being criticized, because back in Rotherham I won 3 promotions and they think I'm Pep".
It's a privilege and an honour to manage Derby County; the current atmosphere of tension is actually positive if it drives the Club/team forward - and it can be the catalyst short-term to do that. If it produces more games like last night, then it will have been a very healthy week indeed.

Re-watched the first half. I thought we moved the ball well. Better than it looked from my view in the East Stand near the away fans. What was obvious was the gap between our midfield players at times. Bird and Smith were pretty much push up against their back line, with Washington dropping to get the ball which was sticking to him.

The above worked well, especially as Northampton just didn’t press at all so we could pick our passes. Didn’t need to be one touch. Against a better or more aggressive team, I think we need to reduce the gaps between the midfielders to successfully play through the lines , which I believe most fans want to see.

Agreed, Bradley played well last night and gave us a glimpse of what he might bring. Equally he won't have an easier league game ever I wouldn't have thought, so we need to see whether he's put his early season jitters to bed in a far tougher environment. It was good to see him play though, we need him and an up-to-speed Bradley will be a real asset.
But there seems to be a polarised view among some that if we think Bradley is great and we kept a clean sheet it must mean Cashin is rubbish (along those lines), or that he seems to have been singled out for some our poorer disaplys; some of the criticism I've seen of him on here and on socials seems really unfair. I think, for a young player in only his second season of regular football, is doing really well.
I'd love Cash to stay, I'd love it if Bradley had an epic rest of the season, and Nelson keeps up his form. I'd also love it if we could keep Nyambe after January. With Foz always solid, that's a very good defence.
And to your last point, I'd like to think that if he goes back to a three after seeing Bradley there earlier in the season and the difficulties he had, then he'd need to have an almighty good reason for doing so.

I wouldn't think he has, that would be daft. Bradley did bring some calmness to the defence which was good. He also played excellent passes into midfield which was a positive.
The good thing is that assuming that Cashin goes in January, there is more comfort in playing Bradley after his dodgy start. The bad thing is that Mr Warne thinks that he can he can play three centre backs again and we are back to square one.

Excellent performance, passing on the grass to each other, retaining possession instead of a percentage lump forward, crosses with pace instead of a looping effort to nowhere, varying the way we attacked and a forward playing like a forward.

I hope that the penny has dropped with our management that we don’t need to worry so much about what other teams do. The players were enjoying the way we were playing; it was entertaining and positive.

I am grateful for him stepping in for his company to buy the club. I think the time has come for him to sell at least a controlling share to bring in new investment. In football terms he hasn’t made good decisions and is holding the club back. In long or even medium term, fans rarely make good owners, that has certainly been the case at Derby.
The potential of the club is a great opportunity for investors to get a good return, particularly if we can get back to the Premier. I would hope that feelers are being put out for potential buyers / investors. I doubt it though, but if that was the case, we may as well hang on to our inept manager & his coaching team until a new owner gets shot if them.

This debate is going to get tedious and boring. Will I always be grateful for saving our club - of course I am. However - how long will this be the rhetoric - 1 more year, 2 more years, 5 more years? As soon as someone criticises his decision to remain with the manager - is this always going to be pulled out? Are you going to pick up on this and say the same thing every time someone says that Stephen Pearce should not be in the club anymore because that is what you're saying.
Personally - I can keep the two things sperate, but you appear to struggle with that concept. I can keep the club being saved different to a decision in the present whereby he has decided to remain with our manager who quite clearly, every poll I see has 60-70% of people wanting him gone for some very clear footballing reasons. Am I not allowed to have that viewpoint?
My wife is disappointed with me that I keep going to Derby games. She can split that view against is she disappointed with me overall? No she isn't. (Well at least I hope not!!!). You can have different opinions on different topics.

Performances are poor. They haven’t really been great during Warne’s whole tenure, but now the results are poor, there’s nothing to fall back on.
The longer we wait, the more chance we have of a third season in League 1. I don’t think there’s any chance of things turning around, everything is against him now.
