Philmycock got a reaction from OohMartWright in Derby finally accept 21 point deduction.
Bend the rules all you like if you go up, but if you don't get promotion the EFL will bully you all the way down the leagues, what a nasty, vindictive, self-serving organisation we belong to.

What's that got to do with this parachute payments thread? ?♂️

The problem with a Premier League 2 is;
a) a large gap will then appear between PL2 and the new top division of the EFL.
b) we probably won't be in PL2 if it started next season!
We don't need a PL2, we need a PL1, 2, 3 & 4. The gap betwen tv revenue can reduce a little bit between every single league place of the whole 92 clubs.
Something like this existed before the "birth of football" in 1992!

In these days day of fairness and transparency ? the sharing of the Parachute payment would provide both, it would be a shame to ban Parachute payment and loose the money.
I do agree that sharing of the Parachute payment should be filed into the same folder as World Peace, a Cure for the common cold, the EFL being an effective and diligent body and the cutting of CO2 emissions ...................never really going to happen, lots of talk................. but little action.

Philmycock reacted to Olton Ram in End Parachute Money
Parachute payments have long since outlived their original purpose, i.e. to act as a financial safety net for relegated clubs to be able to continue to pay expensive players' wages and any outstanding transfer fee installments from their time in the Premier League. Instead, they've simply become a war chest for relegated clubs to buy and pay players far beyond the reach of other Championship clubs, thereby gaining a significant advantage. Personally, I'd either:
a) - Scrap them and just pool the combined money to be shared out throughout the EFL. If relegated clubs can't afford to pay players, that's their own fault, just like any other Championship club.
b) - If the principle of financial support for relegated clubs is maintained, the money should be held centrally by an independent body and money only released on a monthly basis for the sole purpose of paying existing outgoings such as players wages and transfer fee installments. New players and their wages would have to be paid for by the relegated club themselves, not by the fund (again, like any other Championship club).
You simply can't have any form of financial fair play whilst allowing some clubs to receive massive payouts from a third party (i.e. the Premier League); it's a contradiction in terms.

For me, the EFL became the bad guys when they used the words "disappointed" and "regrettable" when one of their attempts to punish us failed. Its a governing body and should be ran as such, the use of such language turned it into a witch hunt imo.
None of that takes any blame from Mel, it just makes the EFL look like they are not bothered about the actual rules and whether we have broken them, but rather they want to punish us because we appear to have broken the rules and are under pressure from powerful lobbying from outside their organisation.
Plus I'm biased. ???

Tap into the fighting spirit of the 2007/8 season. Every match was one where we all knew we were fighting above our weight and would inevitably lose but the support was recognized as the best in the Premiership by other clubs fans that year. 32000 averaged every home game then. Anything over 20000 this time (taking into account covid etc..) would be marvellous. Haven't given up hope yet as am an eternal optimist. Strangely looking forward to next season as if in Div. 1 we will be playing the majority of the games at the proper time Saturday 3pm!!! UTR

I think we'll see more of what we saw in the stands and outside the ground at Coventry, it'll be a day out with every game a dead rubber, the young uns will find their alternative "fun"

I'll take a consistent run on 3pm Saturday games, with no international breaks. It's not going to feel glamorous, far from it, but it is what you make it. The possibility of new away grounds is exciting to me. I'm genuinely looking forward to a bit of a change.
Football is football at the end of the day. We've been a low scoring, largely dull side under a transfer embargo for the past two seasons. I couldn't care less about being one step further from a division I haven't seen since I was a teenager. If all I was interested in was the Premier League, I'd travel 30 minutes in the other direction and watch Leicester.
