CBX1985 got a reaction from Carnero in Player insurance
I'm an IFA and have arranged a number of policies for players over the years, but also for professional sports clubs (not DCFC).
Players can take out a type of enhanced income protection plan.  Clubs can take out plans which pay salary or pay a lump sum.  You can insure against known injuries; you could even insure a player that has gone off with an injury.  You could even insure Collins.  It is called after the event insurance, so costs a hell of a lot - and would have a lead in time.  So if doctors said he should be fit in a month, you could insure if he isn't back in two, say.

What is to know is that clubs can go to market (i.e. Lloyds of London) and can request any cover they want.  The options available to them are far far far more than ordinary Joes, but you have to be willing to pay the Premium.  The cost of which is determined by the risk level of something happening against the cost it does.
Plans for players are always expensive, due to salary and risk; but not insuring is often more expensive.

That might have something to do with the away support comprising people who want to support The Rams - and quite a large proportion of the home support comprising contributors to the 'Warne Out Out' threads - people just waiting for that first mistake so they can vent their spleens.
You know - a bit like on here.

Full marks to Max on his performances and attitude in his games since signing for Bristol. He’s determined to see Derby promoted, before he moves onto to the next phase of his career. Well done.

I'm married to one (consultant anaesthetist) and... that isn't the panacea it appears.
Consultants sign up for a number of blocks - a right they have had since the founding of the NHS.  My wife works four 8 am to 8pm shifts per week.  Twice a month she does an extra day which pretty much doubles her pay.
However, due to the way tax/pension is deducted doing five days for the NHS actually results in lower pay than doing four over those hours.  There needs to be a drastic uptick in earnings to justify doing anymore.
I am an IFA and many of my clients are doctors.  The above is the standard approach; some do a more balanced approach - but 4 and 1 give or take is the norm.  Get rid of the private work, most will just not do the extra day.

I disagree. If government encouraged more people to take private healthcare by abolishing the ridiculous 12% Insurance Premium Tax we would be building more hospitals and employing more staff in the private sector.
The NHS simply has too many patients  and it has become too expensive to operate, meaning brilliant staff don’t get the pay they deserve.

Real world point.  How many times do we reach a point, in any job, where we want to move on - no difference for footballers than the rest of us.  His contract is up in the summer and we'd get nothing.  If he wants out at which point he'd have just left; as things stand, he is staying until end of the season (as he would have anyway), we get paid for him.  BC get to know they have their man next year.  Everyone is a winner - so yes this is a win for all sides.
Footballers are employees and we'd drop them as quick as you like, so them wanting what's best for themselves seems perfectly fair enough.

Just listened to the Gaffers post match interview. Really honest and thoughtful. He clearly cares for his players and loves the Club. Well done Paul and thanks for all you are doing to get promotion despite the wrist slashers constant carping and sniping, mainly from Sunday league arm chair experts.

There might be a time when Collins gets injured this season(I bloody hope not)and those who are primed to have a pop at him will see how much he contributes to this team, It's not just the goals it's his all-round effort to either get the ball back or harass the opposition, The honourable "workhorse" ☺️

I go mainly to home games I’ve struggled to make away games this season due to childcare. I would say the first 2 months of home games were a really tough watch and yesterday was very reminiscent of early season. I don’t think it’s been bad in between and I think people who don’t like the manager or his ideas are using the last week to re-emphasise their views and say it’s all part of a long trend which I don’t necessarily subscribe to. Lincoln was a tough game - as demonstrated by Posh yesterday. Reading we know was abject.
Cheltenham was an awkward game don’t care what anyone says. They are only where they are because they are catching up from one of the worst starts to a season in history. Their form is midtable since Clarke came in. They fought scrapped played football at times and played well, whereas we struggled. Until birds goal yesterday we were horrific, but the lads should be commended for getting the job done in-spite of the equally horrific home backing yesterday. It was a tough watch yes but we’re in a promotion race and we need to do better. Booing when Cheltenham scored cheering the Hourihane sub - it’s moronic.
The performances last 2 games have concerned me we’re going to hit a dip again at precisely the wrong time - but I also think other teams will so picking up points is vital. It was a good day for us yesterday. Last season we may well have not got the win. We also had games in the run in last season where we were excellent but dropped valuable points through not being clinical (Shrewsbury Pompey MK Dons). This season even if the football at times isn’t great we look to be more clinical and hopefully this will see us through.
Yes we need to improve again but we are right in this and I get the impression we won’t go away without a fight. Fans need to get behind them.

I believe it was too late to arrange a loan back option or another suitable replacement (hat tip: post match reaction Dominic Dietrich on BBC RD post Lincoln).
Being willing to sell because we can loan him back, or have time to buy someone else, is very different to being willing to sell.  His value to us is greater and the urgency to 'go now' for him is reduced if he can go in a few short months.

Indeed.  He is an accountant.  If he is given a business plan that says cash injection here here and here, and there is no such injection - books will not balance.
I have little opinion on Pearce, but I have been in positions where there is someone overrbearing that has "their own ideas", and in all conscience you should walk away but sometimes you think "I can dilute what they are doing by working with them rather than letting someone with fewer scruples be the go-to".  I think there was an interview with Clowes where he said he thought Pearce had been honourable when everyone around him hadn't, or words to that effect.

I obviously wasn't the only one thinking "watch out, Beadle's about!" every time we put a cross into their box.
Poor kid made a few outstanding saves too (Wilson header, JJ shot, Bird flick) but he was like a rabbit in the headlights under the high-ball, and even his 6'-plus defenders couldn't help him.
