This post of yours is on the first page of one of the other more popular threads currently going!

The point I'm trying to make with the other quote above is that I think we can all be guilty of this at times, or at least coming across like this. Maybe it's less about how wound up posters are getting and more about how what we're typing might be perceived?

If more people read what they have typed out on here and asked themselves "hmm I wonder how this is going to come across for the person I'm sending it to" before pressing the Submit Reply button, then the forum would probably be a less-argumentative place.

I have definitely noticed a ramping up of the intensity since probably COVID. Not sure why. The whole world seems to have gone the same way.

As I said,  not all posts are serious,  that might not be easy to spot on a forum,  but I read most posts and think the poster is on drugs.

the sad predictability of the Eurovision-esque emojis reactions

Yes all part of 'dumb down Britain' unfortunately. Not exclusive to this forum and very much a reflection of society in general.

I have never understood why people get so wound up over words on a forum!

I sit and read some stuff and agree,  some I disagree with, some I'll post a reply to and most I don't bother replying to. But I don't ever remember using the ignore button if I do thing certain posters are prats.

I don't always expect my posts to be agreed with and a good percentage shouldn't be taken seriously or even read at all.

I'd be slightly wary using B4's name for what could be seen as weaponised virtue signalling could backfire. Any kind of antagonistic react emote is capable of causing resentment, do we want B4's name and legacy attached to something that will stir negative emotions in some when used against them? Just a thought.

Replacing the Ram symbol for the 'COYR' react on the other hand...

Totally agree that anything B4 related should be about positivity.  Rather than using it in a negative way (I.e. as a message to be more B4) it would be better for it to be a response in recognition of a positive post

Not sure I agree with this much. Discarding any opinions that don't match with yours as "dumbing down" does nothing to encourage any kinds of discussion. That kind of thinking is quite polarising I think, especially when we're all supporting the same team.

I feel a lot of this forum can simply be explained by people looking at football in two ways, and both are as valid as each other.

One side (admittedly the ones who have been more vocal about being unhappy with Warne and I class myself in this group) are focused on what has happened. They tend to be critical of bad performances and results.

The other side are looking at what might happen. And they were also fair in thinking that. They looked at the table, looked at the talent in the squad and argued that we're only a decent run away from being a solid top six side.

Somewhere along the line, too many people fell out with the other side and people started arguing over the fact people disagreed. The fact more than one opinion existed seemed more important than the opinions themselves. I'm definitely as guilty of that as anyone. Cos I'm always right.
