Time for another trip down memory lane, there is a lot of uncertainty around at the moment with the same old diatribe being repeated verbatim on all the social media sites so how about we post some of our favourite images of the old place, no need to wallow in glorification but we could do with a collection of photos, memories and pictures to remember those days gone by , Stevie Bloomer, FA Cup ties, penalty spots repainted, seats flying through the air like frisbees, big norm and Frannie Lee, juventus, Real Madrid, fans around the pitch v Fulham, Shaftesbury Ave, Cambridge St, The Baseball Hotel, Champions of England, Todd and McFarland, King Kev, Charlie, Wanchope, Clough and Taylor, Docherty, Arthur, The Bald Eagle, Van der Laan at the back post, Popside, Ossie End, C Stand, The Paddocks, Man United in the 79s man United in the 80s, Leeds, Chelsea, Dave Mackay, Champions of England again, bomb damage in the war

Embracing the past is not the same as being stuck in the past and at a time when the future is so uncertain what’s the harm !

For those of us that went to the BBG it’s not the sort of place you forget.

im thinking next year of recording some memories and uploading them to a virtual museum type website as pat of a Rams Heritage project, so thought would be good to test it out.

Proper ground that. Not knocking Pride Park - a very good stadium in its own right - and perhaps it’s simply an age thing too, but I used to love walking up to a match at the BBG. Haven’t really felt the same way since the 1990’s.

It felt more attuned to how I felt....area was a little rough around the edges, the ground wasn't polished it had history and it was all a little worn but proud. It was in the heart of the community and part of every day life. Bigger teams visited and the crowd were incredibly close to the pitch and I felt a sense of pride that I supported my local team in this character-filled individual stadium.

Pride Park is an identikit stadium on the edge of a business park. The stands are pretty uniform and bland. We could add more seats without really changing much about the feel of the place. For a 21st Century Premier League Team then Pride Park ticks many more boxes. I don't dislike it but I wouldn't mourn it as I did the BBG because it doesn't have a soul to mourn...

Some good pics , including old directors lounge. When I was a kid I went to School with Mike Keelings Son and got invited to the directors box a few times.
Got to have a go in the shooting box under the b stand which was fun .
My lad got treatment for a hamstring tear in the old medical room after getting injured in a trial game.
me spent many hours swaying on the Popside before getting a seat in the Ossie Upper and taking the eldest when very young.
some great memories.

Great point, there was such a choice of pre match boozers, on a summers night it was amazing to walk up to the ground walking past the pubs, the smell of beer and fags, or cigarettes and alcohol as oasis said, the atmosphere around each pub, the chants, the banter, the pushing to the front of the bar and then as one every heading down Cambridge st, nothing what so ever like the walk to Pride Park, at the BBG the atmosphere was built up in those site streets and taken into the ground with you, it was impulsive not fabricated, you only have to watch some of the old 80s game to hear it, the football in the early 80s had gone long ago but the atmosphere was still there, maybe not so electric but none the less still there.
