What was it that Frank Zappa said? Quote You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. So far, after extensive research, I can find no evidence of a national airline, although there is some anecdotal evidence of a brewpub which produced a few litres of an APA clone in the basement So taking the 4 qualifying points in order, Perhaps, at one time Nope Laughable HMS Tireless spent a week there in 2004 The people responsible for the FA's "Fit and proper persons" test might be able to make a case for Gibraltar, but that's about it. At the olympics, sportsmen and women, what is the flag they follow? For all i care (as Johnny foreigner) There could even be a Devon and Cornwall team, i just think when it comes to winning trophies, it might help. You dont see it that way and i am sure the same for vast majority of fans, that's fair enough. for the record England, are probably short of a decent keeper and centre half to get there at the Euros. I can't think of any Alan Hansen and Pat Jennings to help either. Well I didn't realise you weren't British but now you've told me I can begin to understand why you are asking the question. So I'll answer it properly. Forget the Olympics. Football is different. Ok imagine someone suggests an East Midlands team instead of Derby/Forest and Leicester to give us more chance of success. Would we accept that? How would it look? I'd imagine 11 Leicester players. We'd basically be supporting Leicester. And Derby would cease to exist. The way Derby fans & players would feel about that is how Scottish fans and players would feel about Britain. EtoileSportiveDeDerby

Andicis
Henderson, Pope, Shaw, Chillwell, Saka, Alexander-Arnold, James, Maguire, Stones, Tomori, Mount, Foden, Rice, Bellingham, Grealish, Sterling, Sancho, Rashford, Kane, Calvert-Lewin, Watkins. The starting XI I'd go for is: Henderson, James, Stones, Maguire, Chillwell, Mount, Bellingham, Grealish, Rashford, Kane, Sterling. I think we lack quality defenders, but are strong in attacking areas, so we should play to this strength.

Sadly I think you're right. I really don't rate Rice or Phillips much, Bellingham seems better than both already to me. I know he'll pick 2 DMs though. Marriot Ram99
Not so sure about the squad but starting lineup wise it would be: Pope Walker Stones Maguire Shaw Henderson Mount Bellingham Rashford Kane Sterling Possibly Foden over Bellingham but with the physicality he has and box to box style he's probably better suited to the team. Not that he will play more than 5 minutes mind, Southgate is not one for risks. The keeper spot is problematic wouldn't trust any of them tbh. WhiteHorseRam
My view of England's performance in any major tournament, summed up by the Bard himself - Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, That struts and frets his hour upon the stage, And then is heard no more. It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing. I think what old Will meant to say is that we will get out of the group, then run into a brick wall of either Belgium or France. Van der MoodHoover
Jude Bellingham was excellent last night for dortmund. Really outshone the much talked about Haaland. Of course, this is after the emergence of articles talking up Jesse lingards chances based on form for West ham. Southgate with too many attackers.....he'll panic and unearth a few more DMs... ? Ghost of Clough
Once we ban players from the 'Big 6': Pickford, Pope, Johnstone, Cash, Walker-Peters, Justin, Targett, Keane, Mings, Ayling, Tarkowski, Rice, Phillips, Ward-Prowse, Bellingham, Maddison, Shelvey, Sancho, Grealish, Barnes, Bowen, Calvert-Lewin, Watkins Rammy03

I'd go with this, but with the addition of Walker, Lingard and Calvert-Lewin. Henderson also replaces Pope, as he's now regularly playing. Still no space for Trippier, Phillips, Bellingham, Bamford, etc...

IlsonDerby
3 keepers Henderson, Pope, T. rex arms 5 full backs James, TAA, Chilwell, Shaw, Walker 4 centre backs Maguire, Stones, Mings, Tomori 7 midfielders Henderson, Rice, Bellingham, Phillips, Sancho, Foden, Sterling, Grealish 3 strikers Kane, Watkins, Rashford It is tough to choose a 23. Perhaps switch out Watkins for DCL. With a 26 man squad id probably include Dier, Maddison and Saka.
