Its strange. Absence rates during Covid were fairly low in our factory. All other absence disappeared, we got to a point that Covid was the only reason people were off work, apart from long term absence from pre-covid issues.

We averaged around 5% absence against an historical sector wide figure of 4.5% during the 2 years so Covid was not a major factor as such.

Now, we are at 7.5% absence rate with no covid, everyone is off with summat else, more likely they are not testing anymore. All covid absence has gone but general absence is higher than normal.

I have no idea what point I'm trying to make and just hope we don't end up ground sharing with the chip eaters.

Lockdown prevented spread of lots of things. Following relxation of the social distancing rules, your workmates have been making up for lost time and now probably have STDs.

I hope our government doesn’t agree to the “WHO pandemic treaty”

Absolutely.

What was the point of Brexit if we sign away power to the WHO and thats not to mention anything about how they handled covid and who funds them.

OK what's in this pandemic treaty that's so bad? Not heard anything about it.

That petition says it can't be allowed to happen unless approved via a referendum (yes, another one!). The implication is that it would suddenly become acceptable because the public voted for it, is it not?

Can't be anything that bad, if we allow Pandemic specialist Bob down the pub to vote for it.

Can't be arsed to read about it in detail, but the controversial part seems to be along the lines of the WHO demanding (if there's another pandemic) that all countries have to do as they're told and allow the WHO to 'manage' the repsonse and distribution of vacines etc so that the poorer countries don't end up at the back of the queue.....very admirable, but even if the WHO had proven themselves to be amazingly flexiible and effective (which they didn't), I can't see many of the richer countries handing over responsibility for the health of their own citizens in such an emergency.

It's pretty unlikely that a governement would sign such a treaty so I suspect the petition is just scare-mongering...(doesn't take much nowadays to get folk sharpening their pitchforks.....)

There is not an awful lot in the press about it tbh, we could sign up to it without most knowing about it.

WHO throughly support the current poo show that’s going on in China and how Oz handled the pandemic. This goes through then that’s coming our way next time and it’ll be 100 X worse than the rubbish our government piled on us last time (restrictions, pointless lock downs etc etc)

I understand and agree with the referendum bit but we should not sign up to it anyway.

The WHO are an unelected body with substantial funding from Pharmaceutical corporations.

I suppose its down to trust,  I'm old and cynical and I believe the Pharma Corps will act in their own interest above any altruistic public health concerns.

So, no, I don't want them to be able to order countries to do their bidding but I'm afraid not many countries will be brave enough to say no to them - depends what sort of lobbying of our elected representatives goes on behind the scenes.

The fact that you value human life so cheaply is sad.

I value human life (and living a life) immensely hence I hope we don’t agree to this treaty

And China value human (or animal) life?

There are plenty of truly disturbing videos on t'internet showing you how the Chinese have treated their population and pets during the pandemic.  I won't post any here and don't suggest you go looking unless you're not easily upset.

Whilst the UK Govt, and most Govts to be fair have made mistakes throughout the past couple of years, the very minimum we should expect is to be able to hold our authorities to account.  If we sign up to this treaty we will be at the mercy of unelected officials impossible to remove from office and those that fund the WHO that might have a very different view of human and animal life to us not to mention a different world agenda.

Take no notice ,, for value human life I read prioritise covid deaths ie the thing Eddie feels most vulnerable to , every other death or destroyed life means not a jot ,once you get your head round that the ludicrous accusations of being inhumane granny killers just washes over and has no value

Anybody know the world record for longest time of testing positive?

Currently on 13 days and starting to think I might have a chance!

Lateral flow or PCR? Assuming the former.

With PCR, you can be testing positive for weeks, if not months.

Just lateral flows, barely a symptom either so it’s just hanging around. It’s a bugger cause it’s used up the last of my free lateral flows I had and I’ve had to pick up a £10 pack from boots!

Cheers mate, day 15 and I have the slightest shadow line that only just appeared at the very end so I’m hoping it’ll clear completely soon!
