Afternoon all. Just a quick one to say I've thrown together 3,000 words with Johnny Russell on his time at Pride Park, in case it's of interest https://thederbybook.wordpress.com/2020/06/05/johnny-russell/

He was great to speak with and had some nice little insights into the managers he worked for, why he chose the MLS and some of the struggles he had in his five years here.

Don't forget with each article you post to remind us when the books out, and where we can buy it?

If it's as good as the stuff you've posted it should be a cracking read.

Thanks bud, appreciate that! It's in final sign off at the minute so I should be able to follow up with that within the next three or so weeks.

Really enjoyed that and looking forward to the finished article. I liked Johnny and never understood the abuse that some dished out to him. He has gone down slightly in my estimation though but only because he didn't stick his head on Rowett when he had the chance.

Great read @HuddersRam. My son Edward was mascot for the 5-0 Florist game {a fact I’m pretty proud of} which meant that instead of our usual seats in the SW upper, we were in the North stand , just to the left of the goal-post upright that Johnny’s bazooka went into. So from the moment it left his foot I’ve got a goalkeeper’s view of the ball and can do an instant replay in my mind’s eye : as I watched the ball travel, it seemed to be coming straight onto my forehead and slightly wide of the post; then as it got closer and closer the power that he hit it with reverberated over the surface of the ball and it swerved at the last few seconds before ripping into the net. Then utter pandemonium. In 45 years of watching football at Derby it’s the goal that Ive got closest to. The only one that came close was a Bruce Ricoh thunderbolt at the BBG in a 2-3 loss to WBA back in 1978 I think.
Johnny’s goal was a bazooka-bas-turd Of the highest order.

Morning all. Just a quick check in to say that Pride: The Inside Story of Derby County is now available to pre-order! It'll be available to delve through from 19 October and the link below has links to a couple of sites, just in case Amazon isn't your cup of tea.

I'll be continuing with a load of info over on Twitter @PrideDCFC in case anyone is interested in a few features/rambles with some former players. Should hopefully have one out later this week.

Just a quick note as well to mention that when it came to a foreword, I had a few ideas. I thought Stefano Eranio would be fantastic, maybe Mart Poom too. Or even McClaren considering his background and history with the club. But ultimately, I felt there was only one man who was right, one man who gave more than perhaps any other has in my living memory in a Derby shirt and properly understood the club. And so, the first words of Pride will belong to Sir Jake Buxton. ?

Happy Sunday one and all. Still going up, aren't we?

Thrown together this feature with Lewin Nyatanga if anyone is short of reading material, which is pretty timely considering some of the stick Ben Hamer has taken since yesterday. From his early years as a fan at the Baseball Ground to subsequently taking heaps of abuse from the stands, he had some pretty enlightening things to say about what should have been a dream job.

Happy Friday!

For the book, I was lucky enough to be able to make contact with Stefano Eranio. I've managed to squeeze an article out about the man, as told by himself, his teammates and those of us who were lucky enough to see him in a Derby shirt, in case it's of interest to anybody ?

Just a quick update on Pride...

It's now a book! A real, physical book! The first copy was delivered last week and I won't lie, I've been keeping it in bubble wrap ever since as it still feels a little surreal. It'll be available next month and for those interested, it is a chunky thing at nearly 400 pages... Within the opening pages, there's a sentence that says 'hopefully reading this will bring you just that little bit closer to the club'. And that's really the overall plan for it to be honest. I've tried to dig deep into each and every season since the millennium with the main people from each campaign, and I hope that for whoever is interested in it, it will help to just open up on life inside the club a little bit more. Took a while to get it all finalised as it needed a lot of eyes over certain bits of it, but we got there in the end.

ANYWAY. Some of you may have seen but I've set up a bit of a blog where I've put together articles that haven't quite made it into the book, mostly some full player features made up of bits that didn't quite make the cut. https://thederbybook.wordpress.com/.

For those of a Twitter persuasion, I've set up an account @PrideDCFC which I'll be sharing some more bits out. Article with Bucko went on the other day (who also wrote the foreword, the absolute genius). ?

Great work Ryan (who I will forever know as 'Hudders'. How can it be pre-ordered; how much will it cost, and where will it be available? I am dead keen to buy one for me and one for my son.

Best of luck; it looks and sounds awesome.
