An Australian tourist in his thirties sought medical help in the town of Húsavík in northern Iceland and died shortly thereafter.  He had the virus, but his symptoms did not match the reported symptoms for the disease.  This is the first Covid19 related death in Iceland.  224 have tested positive for the virus and over a thousand are tested per day.

There are at least 2 strains going around, one called S, the other L, S being the original virus, L a mutated virus and is much more serious.  Iranian health officials claim to have a third strain.

Is S the virus that people had the back end of last year? Or was there another strain? Or was it simply not Corona?

i don't know what's up or down anymore.  We were sick here just before Christmas and wife and i never really gotten fully rid of it and then two weeks ago struck down again with flu like symptoms and i am still ill, but seem to be recovering, my wife is still showing symptoms, but thankfully our boy is in fine health.

All i know is that the S strain is said to be the original strain and may have kicked off in November.

Going for a test on Saturday, am self isolating of course.

Bob won't tell us what the secret symptoms are ?

Somebody actually mentioned it after I posted that. I can't remember who it was or if they were guessing, but it's a body rash.

I've seen it posted in various places now, so I guess people ought to know.

Not having a rash does not mean you don't have it, but it tells them that it's not the flu.

I suppose there's a risk that if they announce this that people will think  they're ok if they don't have a rash. That is not necessarily the case.

There are a couple of other things to look for but I don't know if they're just guessing because my wife hasn't encountered any of them, but she's only screened 4 people so that's hardly significant.

The other two that jump out at me are 'pink eye' and bleeding - although with the latter it doesn't say where from.

All screening is now taking place over the phone in the first instance and they are still woefully ill-equipped to test.

The DoH are referring people to the ER and the ER is referring them back to their primary care physician, who then call the DoH. It is without doubt a huge cluster duck and Trump has only made it worse because there are still people who are saying it's all fake news because Trump called it a Democratic hoax 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I hope so - we're down to our last 2 rolls (in a house of 4 people) and spent about 2 hours yesterday trawling every shop in town. Every shelf was bare. In fact several places were deliberately racking out pallets of kitchen roll in place of the loo roll. That in itself seems ridiculous, given that kitchen roll does not disintegrate like loo roll. People will just block their drains - which I suspect is the last thing they need right now

I'm hoping it's just down to supply chains and in the coming days, new deliveries will be taken and the demand will have dropped off because so many idiots have bought enough to last them until winter.

Anyway - eventually found some in a corner shop in Normanton. I could have kissed the fella, but you know...government advice and all that

What the government advising against kissing fellas ?

Cause of death is not yet known so, lets not jump to conclusions. According to Chief Epidemiologist Þórólfur Guðnason it is unlikely Covid-19 was the cause of death.

I've been ill too, back end of last year and this year again. Ticks all the boxes, but didn't think twice about it at first, inspite of talk of Corona because there hadn't been any confirmed cases in the UK.

This needs to be investigated asap as it is significant in this fight.

I think you're better than this post too.

Our political views are very unlikely to ever be aligned but I think now is not the time for political point scoring.

I see what you are saying about lack of leadership but he is facing a crisis, the like of which has never been seen in a generation. The situation is changing day by day.

As for Johnson creating this sort of society, isnt this the same society that in the last couple of months were going to save the world? The same ones posting #bekind ?

This is human nature that you are witnessing right now, nothing to do with any government policy.

Your right.

Our political views will never be aligned.. Johnson and his Conservative colleagues have deliberately run down the NHS and Care system over a long period, cut jobs, beds, services, etc, to make it more profitable for private companies to take over.

We'd struggle in a crises at any time, but with the whole system savaged by ideological cuts  a lot more people will die than otherwise would have done.

Until we know more, it is still a Covid19 related death.

Þórólfur has been wrong numerous times.  First he claimed it did not pass from human to human, then that it only passed by touch, then only by touch and droplets, then kids would not pass it to adults.

No. Until we know more, it is potentially a Covid19 related death. Although, I do accept, I'd be surprised if it isn't.

You obviously know a lot more about this individual than the rest of us. Makes you wonder how he still has a job.

When it comes to officials and "specialists" incompetence is the rule rather than the exception IMO.

Politics matter more than proficiency.

Toyota at Burnaston are closing down after tommorows days shift until March 27th. I work inside Toyota for a contracter and would expect most of ours to finish at the same time, But because some of us send parts out to to other plants across the world, we might carry on for a few days more.

I have been sceptical to say the least about this whole affair...but in light of some questions and dialogue I am looking at this more closely.....around 6-8 weeks ago I finished my night shift at 6am as normal, I had been fine all night no signs of illness at all, as I was walking home I started getting chest pains by the time I got home approx 6.15am I thought my chest was going to explode I honestly thought I was having heart problems, I was badly with flu like symptoms for around a week going on two weeks.....now I had never had flu so didn’t know what it felt like, I’d obviously heard about man flu and how bad it was so I was finally able to say I’d had it.......my lass thought it quite funny all the time I’d slagged people off about it then acting like a baby when I got struck down.....now it might well be that it was “flu” but I’m hearing more and more about people around the same time having the bug.....as I say maybe coincidence but as Corona hadn’t hit our shores “allegedly” at that time I certainly didn’t add that to the equation.......also the reality is hitting home, my sister has a small cleaning company, she has lost dozens of customers due to this as they are mainly older people and not wanting or unable to have her come round, financially effecting her badly, so I apologise to anyone I may have provoked or upset with my previous manner to the situation x

That was my guess ? I only said it because I had a rash emerging a day or so after I had a cough and sore throat. Now I’m even more uncertain if I had It or now ?
