Frank can always nip into Stamford Bridge and ask Gary Cahill if he fancies a few games with us as he's not getting any game time with Chelsea. I have been a supporter of Keogh in the past but he knows his pace is not what it was and this makes him even more jittery than usual. Behind him Carson hardly exudes calm and alongside him he has two young players making their way in the game and a left back happier in attack than defence. We are in a transitional phase but the fans demand success now (and they spend good money). I wouldn't be surprised if we went for two Steady Eddie loans to bring experience in. Srg Posted December 7, 2018 Share Posted December 7, 2018 If he brings in a defender, it needs to be one that is comfortable with it at his feet and can pass a ball. As good as Curtis is, it's evident how much worse the team attacks when he plays because we can't move the ball out from defence. Don't see any use in replacing that with a like-for-like. I take your point about Pearce but he can at least head the ball and bringing him in would probably see us sitting deeper which isn't ideal. Or are you presuming he is because he's getting older? I can only think of one player that has run past him and was obviously much quicker and that was the young Swansea player last week - and that after Keogh had played two tough games in a few days of an everpresent season, including an assault which must have still hurt several days later. We are weaker defensively for fairly obvious reasons- we have lost two highly experienced and quality defenders added to the fact that our midfield is more forward thinking and actively attacking plus we no longer have players like Russell who not only attacked well but defended his full back well and for all their attacking qualities the likes of joflo and Lawrence certinatly don’t actively protect the full back positions in addition to the reality that we are not a very tall side at all so at set pieces we will struggle Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
