Derby world cup style squad

Saw this on twitter, name your 23-man Derby squad, from YOUR time as a Derby fan.

You must have 3 GKs, and they can only be players that have played for Derby during your time as a fan, and the form they had at Derby counts, not how well they played elsewhere.

This was mine:-

1 M.Poom
2 J.Laursen
3 C.Powell
4 S.Eranio
5 I.Stimac
6 M.Wright
7 A.Asanovic
8 R.Van Der Laan
9 D.Saunders
10 G.Kinkladze
11 T.McMinn
12 P.McGrath
13 S.Carson
14 D.Yates

17 M.Forsyth
18 G.Barnes

A lot harder than expected, a few were put in taken out again, some to get a better balance to the squad. Good question @Moist One, I bet if I did it again there would be around 5 or 6 changes ?

Grant, Carson, Butland

Wisdom, Brayford

Keogh, Bucko, Huddlestone, Moore

Fozzy, Gareth Roberts

Thorne, Idiakez

Hughes, Bryson, Hendrick, Oakley

Commons, Barnes, Tommy Smith, Ince

Martin, Hulse

Reserve left-back for anybody born in the mid-nineties onwards will be a massive struggle. Also puts it into perspective how unjust Fozzy bashing is when Gareth Roberts is even up there let alone my second choice.

Maybe Zinedine Kilbane?

Also, Mo Camara was obviously not a world beater, but he was good in the promotion season - seem to remember something silly like 9 clean sheets in a row. Then Billy Davies tinkered about with it and bought in the Scottish/Scouse third of the three Everley brothers, Jay, and we nearly messed it up.

Very tough. Harsh on dozens of players to leave them out, but I've tried to follow the original brief and would say the likes of Shilton and Kinkadze were well past it when they played for us (sadly). I've also brought in the two best academy products from my time watching, as you always take some young players to the World Cup to get a feel of the tournament, even if they might not play much. Though the fit Giles Barnes from that promotion season could turn any game. Wasn't expecting Will Hughes to make the list as a backup midfielder, but his technique just got him the nod.
