I would say this is even more prevalent in the championship, where, with the exception of Wolves and Fulham there aren't many teams scoring goals resulting from individual or collective skilful play. He certainly took long enough trying to remedy it though once the lack of legs began to cost us.

Yeah, our xG was 13th place, Vydra had scored 11 goals from 13 shots, there wasn’t and has been no pattern of play all season up until Saturday But I don’t understand the nuances of the game like you, do I Josep? Take Wisdom when he dispossessed the defender .. Is that an error ? Or when Jerome turns the CB and takes the ball with positive intent. Was it an error or was the opponent just out played ? If you have a clinical finisher, who puts away 90% of his chances, and the average player puts away 70% of his chances in the same positions then the xG will be lower than the actual goals. xG doesn't account for better/worse players. xG is the new possession stat, because you can't win a game without more than 50% possession
RamuelLJackson
xG is just the tip of the analytics iceberg. Just look at SABRmetrics in the US - the point is to develop metrics that tell us more than the results do alone, and in part that is because those metrics are more predictive than the straight results are. Yes xG isn't perfect, but it tells us some more stuff, and future metrics will tell us more and more accurate things.

MikeS
So we finally won a game. He finally changed the team around. The second half performance was more like the level we expect from a Derby side. The manager may well bring us some success in time but I am not at all sure I will enjoy watching the games that much.
