This may sound a bit daft, but I follow the Peterborough chairman on Twitter and he was asked his championship predictions last week and Derby wasn’t included in his promoted sides. Just, he has said Derby. He also says that Lampard has spoken to Posh in a business conversation in the past week. We don’t know what that conversation was about but it’s just interesting that he’s changed his mind within a week when nothing has changed at the club...

Ezri Konsa (Charlton) joining Brentford. And once again we fail to secure / miss out on a big talent. And once again Brentford is doing a brilliant job.

Let's see him play at the higher level with Brentford before saying they're doing a brilliant job by signing him. Too many posters too quick to criticise at the moment - if this player is that good why is he only going to Brentford?

Well they sign player after player with lots of potential. Sure there are busts, that's normal. Still - at least they sign players who are young enough to possibly develop.. ?

I was told by a forest fan of all people that we were trying to say Maddison.

Your definition of big talent is a little different to mine

They go to Brentford because they have a great track record developing young players who they bring in, they don’t have much (if any) academy so the young players they sign form the next players to get into the team without competition. Whereas we have a track record of overpaying for overrated aged players to block the route of young players to come through.

Brentford also have a record of being a springboard/stepping stone club to bigger moves, so players go there knowing the first team may be sold if the right offer comes in. Whereas we hold on to players until no one wants them and need paying off

The Brentford model

not all premier league outcasts some are lower league potential gems
