Ashz09
So people moved away from the 4-5-1? to the diamond? Will have to see the diamond work IMO I don't think it will. Could always be a plan b but the teams listen in this thread are deadly and should be aiming for top 2!!
Ambitious
The players have definitely grown into the diamond formation over the past month or so. Hendrick and Hughes are as fit as they ever have been. It was one of my main gripes last season, but watching them this pre-season they are non-stop running and closing down. Could always be a plan b but the teams listen in this thread are deadly and should be aiming for top 2!!4-4-2 diamond and 4-5-1 are usually used together, depends are we attacking or defending and how the opposition plays. So basicly it's just a case of throwing starting lineup here! Back five are same but rest are impossible to put in place.
Shang
Neil Lennon will be aware of the attacking threat of Derby and probably go to his 4-2-3-1 formation he used at Celtic a lot. A diamond formation against that won't see any of the ball.Paul Clement said he'll shift the players for formation to match his opposition so this is how I think we should set up (used lineupbuilder because it's more visual)http://lineupbuilder.com/?sk=86gx5Forsyth on the left wing to overlap Weimann and provide width, Warnock is more of a defender as I feel we'll have to overload their defense because Neil Lennon knows how to park the bus well (e.g. Celtic v Barcelona).Put Baird in the right back position because he can move forward and provide the distribution from a safe area.Weimann and Ince as inside forwards, running past defenders with Martin, Hughes and Thorne providing the incisive passing through the lines. EnigmaRam
I'd stick with last nights formation, but whack Forsyth in at LB. Not that Warnock wasn't good, I'm just a fan of the more attacking full back, not an aspect we have with both Baird and Warnock in the team, and I rate Baird more highly than Warnock, and Forsyth more highly than Christie. I'd also stick Shackell in for Pearce. GrantBaird Keogh Shackell Forsyth Thorne Hughes Hendrick Ince Martin Weimann *drool*. Having Forsyth up and down the flank gives us the width which a 4-4-2 diamond often lacks.exactly my line up. If 433 just push Martin forward and Weimann back
Gritty
Sorted! Grant or CarsonChristie or Baird. Keogh or Shotton Pearce or Shackell Warnock or Forsyth Thorne or Hanson. Hendrick or Bryson Hughes or Dawkins Ince Bent or Martin. Russell or Weimann So you're sure about Ince then....

Chester40
Only nailed on defo starters are Grant, Shackell, Thorne, Weimann and InceI'd say Martin and Hughes are pretty certain to play if fit, with Keogh, Baird, Forsyth and Hendrick making up the 11. Leaving Russell and Bent to come on off the bench, with Christie and Pearce pushing for a place too. I like Dawkins but him and Bryson look out of the picture to me...but what do I know, lots of options that's for sure.

Shuff264
I doubt it will be a 4-2-3-1, in the post match interview Clement said that it was the first time they'd tried it and not even done it in training, he'll probably give it another go against Portsmouth.
