No, he was a coach for under 18s I think. Possibly younger groups too. He told me he had to have emergency non DCFC clothing in his car for when he returned to Notts and he kept forgetting and getting funny comments!
His son Lewis was also at DCFC.

Just watched his highlights reel (again) on YouTube. My word, what a player.
Our future was pretty much decided the day he got that ACL in pre season. An absolute hammer blow.

I 100% agree the academy products now are brilliant
But there’s differences to a few years ago- we’re playing at a much higher level in 23s football to where we were 5 or 6 years ago which probably improves them
The academy boys are highly motivated as there are clear routes to first team football which I don’t think the likes of Guy, Vernam etc ever had and that must have affected their drive. Not to mention, I expect there are lots of players in Leagues 1 and 2 who wouldn’t look out of place in the Championship; they just need an opportunity
I do think, however, we’ve recruited better in recent years and that’s possibly because of the 23s and 18s have a brilliant reputation now as well as the obvious lure of likely first team football if you’re any good at all

What we do have, is a proven academy and probably the best outside the Premiership. Any young talent that is looking to make in football would look at Derby County if their parents had any sense.  Those who went to an Academy side in the Premiership were always up against more competition and its been proven with Luke Plange being released by Arsenal and Louie Watson at West Ham, then improving at Moor Farm.
We have created a top class youth academy that will continue to attract young talent for years to come. The man to take the credit is Darren Wassall.  The manager that brought him to Derby from Burton was Nigel Clough, so he must also take some credit, Nigel was sacked in September 2013 but had stated in the March of 2013 "The Academy should almost be ring fenced and whoever comes in next, I hope they have the sense to leave it alone and let it continue working".  I'm not going to list the players that have made it from academy status to either Premiership, Championship or lower proffesional leagues. The list is quite big, but I will mention one player who I thought could have made it with the Rams, Timi Max Elsnik who made only the 1st team in the Carabao cup but went on loan to a few clubs before being released and is mow playing for Olimpija Lujbljana in the top flight of Slovenia and recently made his debut for Slovenia in Octoberthis year.

The point being those players should have been there as emergency backup in their positions. Sort of like the roles Wes Brown, O'Shea, etc had at Man Utd. Capable of filling in, but not good enoigh as a regular starter - as evidenced when they eventually moved on.
In 15/16, we had Pearce, Shotton and Buxton as 4th, 5th and 6th choice CBs, playing for a total of 261 minutes in the league. Rawson could easily have stepped in as 4th choice instead, and showed he was capable enough based on his loan out to Rotherham. Hanson didn't look out of place in the team yet hardly featured again in following seasons.
16/17, Blackman, Camara and Weimann 4th, 5th and 6th choice wingers played for less than a combined 1000 minutes. Those should have been given to Bennett (who only played for 23). Lowe was exceptional when he came into the side in 16/17, including a memorable man of the match display vs Wolves. But, he had Forsyth and Olsson on senior player wages so shived down the pecking order.
17/18, Shackell 0 minutes, Butterfield 157, Palmer 426 and Anya 302. Are you telling me Rawson, Hanson and Elsnik couldn't have played those roles and not been just as good? We owned Vydra, Martin, Jerome, Nugent and Bent plus Winnall on loan. We only needed 2 of them, with Jacobsen as backup.

Yep. Curtis has always been brilliant with the younger players. Without wanting to knock Wazza who is doing his level best in impossible circumstances, I'm still mystified by the decision to make Lawrence the skipper but I suppose the likes of Curtis, Jags, Shinniesta and Knight all lead by example anyway.
Back on Curtis, he looks nailed on to make a very good coach somewhere down the line, hopefully with us. He's the very definition of a model professional and a credit to himself and the club.

Thank you @Blackpoolmadtop post from a real football supporter. Whatever our allegiances it is sad to see any club in difficulties due to the mismanagement of others because of the communities and individuals involved. I am going tomorrow with my son and grandson and will be explaining to him the brother/sisterhood of the football supporter. It is great how your club has survived and is prospering, we may have a long way yet to fall, but it gives me some hope. Sadly like others before us we will not be the last due to the inequalities in the organisation of the Premier and football leagues.

We remember how your fans supported us through our darkest hours.
We now have our club back and we are on our way back, but your fans were brilliant at Bloomfield Road singing all the Oyston out songs with us. We had a mini riot during that game, a night match and later that season, we started boycotting games home and away.
Word is, our fans are 100% behind you during this hopefully short term blip in your great clubs situation.
    Good luck from the Seasiders!

The Middlesbrough claim is just so outrageous. I can’t believe the EFL are just staying silent on this. Surely they can see what the wide ranging implications of this are.
The possibility of future claims and counter claims would cause chaos not to mention the very real possibility of this claim being the issue that puts off buyers and send us into liquidation, a situation that benefits no one not even Boro. I can say hand on heart that I would hate it if we were doing this even to Forest or Leeds.

Whatever this season brings I can’t help but feel all warm and gooey inside every time we kick off.

Bogle and Lowe have long gone but they were a good start. Now, when I see the long long list of youngsters who over the last 12/18 months got a baptism of fire and met it with commitment and skill; I am filled with hope and delight.
so many, even in this short time, have shown they aren’t lightweight kids thrown in to a desperate mincer. They have skill, fortitude and ability. They  have stepped up with ease.
Watson, Williams, Thompson, Knight, Bird, Ebesole, Buchanan, Cashin, Sibley, Stretton. Just look at that list !
Anyone of them can and will wear our shirt and give a good account of themselves. They have reached the mark at a young age. They are at the beginning. At this stage of their development they will only get better .. it’s a heck of a list from one club .. to produce virtually a full team from your own toy box in such a short stretch of time is magical. Manchester United make much of their youth development with 100 x our resources. Rooney, Daz Waz and even Mel must get a salute for being part of this. Then add in Curtis, Fozzy, Colin and Jags .. what great examples they are setting. .. These kids will win something, this year, next year or 5 years down the line.

It may sound strange but I am enjoying this battle against the odds because I am seeing character, courage, growing skills, enthusiasm, pride and sport prowess of the highest order. It is hugely rewarding and just joyful to see it.

And here’s the kicker, if the EFL even contemplate this they are opening a huge can of worms.
Any team that feels aggrieved by any decision or action could sue on the precedent of this decision.
Just off the top of my head we could hit Villa, QPR and maybe even Ipswich for damages. Other clubs could do the same across the leagues.
    Where would it end?
If this goes ahead then we should fully advocate our new owners suing the above.

There were a few rubbish chants started on Sunday but they seemed to be quickly drowned out by more positive ones, presumably from supporters nearby.
I think we have a small minority of noisy fans who are disrespectful of everything and everyone - they are just thugs really and hide behind being at a game to do this stuff. If they're not chanting, they are threatening opposition or their own supporters or generally abusing staff at grounds.
I wish we could weed them out but it appears very difficult. But I don't think they are representative of most Derby fans.
I love the positivity of the vast majority of our supporters and think the South Stand have been brilliant this season.

Hi folks, I’ve been a long time lurker on the forum and thought I’d add my thoughts for once. I appreciate Lawrence will never be universally liked by everyone, my own opinion is that I like him, he’s a capable and occasionally frustrating player in a Rams shirt.
His Goals and Assists this season have directly helped us to a win against Bournemouth and draws against Millwall, Luton and Forest, 6 points in total. He also set up the goal against Barnsley, maybe the less said about that game the better…. I suppose my point is he is playing his part, if he carries on doing so and doesn’t leave in Jan it’s already looking like his most productive output, some will no doubt say it’s cause he’s trying to earn a move etc, for now I appreciate his effort and contribution to the team ?

    Hi
Bournemouth supporter here and congratulations on the win yesterday. Should have been a draw but that's not what I came on here for.
In 2008-09 we were on zero points after 19 games - having started on -17. We were also under a transfer embargo, were struggling to pay players and had a  team with several on-league and out-of-contract recruits. For us the rest is History as Eddie Howe stepped up from youth team coach on 1st  January, lost his first 2 games but we stayed up on 46 points.
OK! OK! I know it was League 2, and you don't want a Bournemouth history lesson. My point simply is - it can be done. Your home support may just help -it was pretty impressive yesterday.
    Hope you manage it.
    Good luck.
