I was no Rooney fan when he became manager, really struggled with what we produced last season and felt that he got the job based on an owner who was checked out and needed the PR boost to sell the club. The whole thing stunk and before the season I had us down, that's prior to the knowledge of any point deductions or transfer embargos and everything else we've suffered.
I would've been wrong, even with the transfer embargo, plus his conduct has been nothing but exceptional. He's brought players on, development players at an extremely high rate and managed to build an environment for players to develop correctly in an environment no player should ever have to play in. I don't think you can give him enough credit for that, honestly, especially when you look at the squad we have.
Now, providing a takeover happens, I only want him here if we are giving him the tools to succeed. If we aren't in a position to do that then I hope he finds a good job for him to thrive. He's earned that much.
Regardless of what happens, I just wish him well. I'd love to see him go to the very top!

Shall I let you into a secret? At least 50% of us do go to the stadium early and are bored rigid with the lack of atmosphere and decent facilities while we wait around for the drinkers to come and stand in front of us, push past after kick off and generally ruin the first 15 minutes of the game.
If I had my way, I'd make the buggers wait until an interval before allowing them up to their seats!
And I used to love a coffee and cake before the game. I really miss the Backyard.

We went to watch Bristol City v Rams (it's our local game) a few years back and my son had 'accidentally' bought an under-17 ticket.  He was fairly fresh faced, but was challenged at the turnstile.  'How old are you mate?', Err, sorry, I'm 19 he replied honestly, reaching for his wallet to pay the extra.  'Don't worry about it mate, for being so honest I'll let in with this ticket anyway!'
Realise that was a decade ago now.

Mega rich because they are astute business men (and to be successful in business you do have to be quite miserly and watch every penny)
They have  zero emotional attachment to DCFC. Why would they pay more than they have to? There is a point where the price becomes no longer an astute purchase and they walk away.
Feels like some people assume there is an emotional element to these bidders. There is not. The sums either add up or they don't, and they move on

They're getting what I should imagine is the going rate for doing a complex job (perhaps the most complicated situation a reasonably sized football club in adminstration has faced?) while playing piggy in the middle between 4-6 massive egos, none of who want to budge from their demands and are themselves happy to drag things out as long as possible.
The constant outrage that they're getting paid large sums of money is stupid and the 'lining their pockets at our expense' stuff childish. Yes it's irksome that people in their particular line of work earn so much money for seemingly so little but it is what it is.
That is unless you can prove that their fees are above and beyond what others would charge for the job, or you've evidence that they're intentionally delaying the process to inflate their fee.
If you've got an issue with how much money they (and others) make from it take it up with the people who appoint them and agree to the fees.

Drained and confused by it all at this point.
The recent speculation and media reports, for a start the figure for the stadium has been public knowledge for a while now, the asking price is to cover the MSD loans. Can only assume lack of any news the Daily Mail have found an old toy from the back of the sofa to chew on again.
I say that as we’ve had a week of one of the craziest rumours to have graced this forum being ran with and discussed. Why on earth would Mel put the club into administration, pick up a points deduction, watch the club lose it’s assets, to then be interested in buying the club back again?
Makes absolutely zero sense, could you imagine the reception he would receive on entering Pride Park again? He clearly reached breaking point to put the club into administration, there hasn’t exactly been any kind of support for him to rethink his decision and return.
Back in the real world, it would appear that Quantuma are holding out for a deal which would see us avoid a -15 points deduction next season. Fair enough, we would all like that I’m sure.
It’s a gamble though, a gamble on our existence, why are they so confident of achieving that when it’s now being reported that the man who they were close to doing a deal in December that would satisfy the EFL has been blanked for 2 months?
Since then we’ve seen more players leave, staff made redundant where the £5m deposit of a preferred bidder could have potentially prevented any of that from happening.
Each day Quantuma’s fees will be adding up, pushing the overall cost of the club higher and higher, which you would assume push those away that are looking to take the club on with a -15 deduction next season.
I’m also struggling to wrap my head around those bids, willing to take on a -15 deduction, that’s a big deduction for a club that will have to rebuild, do they have the funds to avoid that deduction and rebuild? If not, there is question marks over the funding of the club going forward.
I have no preferred bidder, but it would appear that the solution now would be for Quantuma to pick up the phone, get Mike Ashley and his representatives into a room, order a few pizzas in and thrash out a deal. Whilst he may not be a universally popular choice, we’re at the stage where he appears to be the only credible bidder in that he can satisfy the EFL and have the funds to rebuild the club.
We are well beyond the time where we can be picky and anyone that can save this club should be welcomed with open arms at this point.
We also have a small matter of a football match on Saturday, morale needs to be lifted on and off the field for the final push if we are to have any hope in somehow achieving the impossible.

It was just under £8.4m. Some of Bielik's paid off. Jozwiak's may not even count as a football debt due to being outside of England.
Debatable whether this is a football debt either
Listed as an unsecured creditor. Total was about £1m.
Never mentioed in the administrators' report. Already paid off.

I hope you remembered to sanitize after.
Couple of interesting observations, yes the Keogh affair was bad optics, in light of seemingly bending over backwards for Lawrence but trying to shuffle Keogh out to avoid paying him.
I remember Leeds spent that whole season crying about that deduction, kept putting the "when we get our points back" table in the match program, endless legal challenges, never thought they'd done anything wrong. They acted like they were more victims than Liverpool...

Stayed with some good friends in York this weekend.  Met Paul's stepson for the first time.  He's in his early 30s and a Leeds season ticket holder.  We had a good lengthy chat. Some things that arose:
He giggled when I mentioned 'Dirty Leeds'. He was desperately worried about Leeds's current position in the Prem. (He should be so lucky!) Knew we'd had a points deduction but didn't realise it was 21. Wanted to beat us every game but didn't agree with the 'party when we die' sentiment. Thought our demise in the public's sympathy began with the sacking of Keogh. Knew nothing of our soft and hard embargo issues.  Loved Jagielka! Thought Rooney was our manager at the time of the play-off semi, not Lampard.  Didn't know Cocu had ever been manager. Didn't approve of the Morris selling the stadium to himself trick. Wondered if Morris (hadn't heard of Pearce) was still on the EFL board. Interestingly, was confident we'd survive and League 1 wasn't the end of the world.  Apparently Ken Bates put Leeds into administration part way through a match when the score meant relegation was inevitable!  He was trying to ensure any points deduction would be whilst they were technically still in the Championship and they'd be able to start League 1 on zero points.  The EFL took a dim view of this and forced a 15 point deduction when starting League 1.  They still reached the play-off semis that first season.  I'd forgotten all this. Agreed the EFL weren't fit for purpose. Loved Bielsa, but thought his stubborn refusal to adapt his style even slightly cost him his job. Interesting to get an outsider's view of our situation.
