  1. It can't be Kirchner until people start referring to him as 'Chris' again.

Remember a few months ago when it was all Chris this and Chris that?  People responding to his tweets with 'Hi Chris, hope you had a great time at the game. Do you want to duck my missus, Chris?' Even though no-one had actually met 'Chris'.

    Some way to go yet.

  2. Stayed with some good friends in York this weekend.  Met Paul's stepson for the first time.  He's in his early 30s and a Leeds season ticket holder.  We had a good lengthy chat. Some things that arose:

    • He giggled when I mentioned 'Dirty Leeds'.
    • He was desperately worried about Leeds's current position in the Prem. (He should be so lucky!)
    • Knew we'd had a points deduction but didn't realise it was 21.
    • Wanted to beat us every game but didn't agree with the 'party when we die' sentiment.
    • Thought our demise in the public's sympathy began with the sacking of Keogh.
    • Knew nothing of our soft and hard embargo issues.  Loved Jagielka!
    • Thought Rooney was our manager at the time of the play-off semi, not Lampard.  Didn't know Cocu had ever been manager.
    • Didn't approve of the Morris selling the stadium to himself trick.
    • Wondered if Morris (hadn't heard of Pearce) was still on the EFL board.
    • Interestingly, was confident we'd survive and League 1 wasn't the end of the world.  Apparently Ken Bates put Leeds into administration part way through a match when the score meant relegation was inevitable!  He was trying to ensure any points deduction would be whilst they were technically still in the Championship and they'd be able to start League 1 on zero points.  The EFL took a dim view of this and forced a 15 point deduction when starting League 1.  They still reached the play-off semis that first season.  I'd forgotten all this.
    • Agreed the EFL weren't fit for purpose.
    • Loved Bielsa, but thought his stubborn refusal to adapt his style even slightly cost him his job.

Interesting to get an outsider's view of our situation.

As all my fellow mechanical engineering colleagues use to say "The yellow pages had it right, Boring - see civil engineers" oh we laughed and fate landed me working with an endless number of geologists.

Oi, I was a Civil Engineer back in the day!  And, yes, an Electrical Engineer mate of mine took great pleasure in ringing me one evening to get me to look up Boring in Yellow Pages.

  4. I reckon that's a great statement by Mel.  Not too much legalese or obfuscation.  Written in words you could imagine him saying.  Not just corporate bullsh*t.  Personal enough to tell he's rattled, but still prepared to 'fight to the end'.  Dismantles the Mboro, Wycombe and EFL claims piece by piece.

I know the haters are still gonna hate, but I feel Mel's response has smashed the ball firmly back into EFL's court.

Let's see how confident they are now.  Bring it on!

  5. Prompted me to look whatever happened to Timi Max Elsnik who was our great hope for the future a few years ago. Now playing for Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia apparently.  Still only 23...

  6. Don't agree with this glad we lost stuff.  Surely the dressing room feels buoyed after any win?

Barnsley, our first target, won today (just!). I'm sure their dressing room was a happier place than ours. I doubt their players are thinking "Oh no, we've won so we're gonna have to play one more game than Derby."

I think a confident, happy, winning team leaving the dressing room would have been the best result for us.

  7. Lost my DCFC facemask somewhere in early December. Ordered another on online from the Megastore on Dec 15th. Cost was more than twice the 'face' value of £4.50 by the time P&P was added. Order was immediately acknowledged by Megastore by email. Another email from Megastore to my email address confirming it had been shipped giving a tracking number and to expect delivery Dec 17th.

Nothing happened.  Must be the Christmas mail delays. Fair enough. Began chasing it this week.  Tracking showed it is still with Hermes. Hermes say I need to contact the vendor. Fair enough.

I reply to Megastore's email that said it had shipped and asked them to chase it.  Megastore replied to say they couldn't deal with me as the email I was using wasn't the same as the order. Err, it was as I was just replying to their email they'd sent to me!

So I reply to Megastore's original email that acknowledged the order and asked them to chase it.  Megastore again replied to say they couldn't deal with me as the email I was using wasn't the same as the order. Err, it was as again I was just replying to their email they'd sent to me!

Useless!  I'll give it another 48 hours...

  8. North Somerset

    Bristol City

Born and bred in Chesterfield.  Followed Spireites in 4th Division and Rams in 1st Division, which was just about allowable as a schoolboy in late 60s.  More Leeds fans than Rams fans at school, so our early 70s successes cemented my allegiance!

I went down to junction 18 but I think it might have been 18A either way I missed them both and came in at junction 19 which was really useful to avoid the city centre traffic. We parked in a council car park just down from the Nova Scotia it was £5 for 5 hours which was less than the £10 most places were charging. We wanted to watch Buxtons FA cup match but both the Nova Scotia and Pump House didn’t have a TV. While looking for a pub with a TV I came across a pub called Mardyke Hotel which was a strange place but the beer was half the price of the other pubs so that was a good thing. I felt quite safe around the ground and people seemed quite friendly. Saw the Santa’s on motorbikes bombing around.
As for the game we didn’t turn up first half second half we still didn’t really look like scoring. Do you have any fans that sing? I assume they were in the far left hand corner but not very vocal.
I quite liked the ground and if the pitch invader was from Derby he most likely wanted a 3 year ban to keep him away from the ground.
A bit of a shout out to your No.  22 Kalas who gave us a clap at the end.

I live close to J19 to that's my go to route into the City. The Mardyke used to be a biker's pub.  I'm a biker, but even so found it a bit intimidating!  Not been in for a few years, but there's no longer row upon row of bikes parked outside on the pavement.

The pitch invader was the highlight of the drab game, particularly the sidestep leading to the Keystone Kops marshal-skittling incident!

  10. My first game this season.  Live about 3 miles outside of Bristol and on the right side too, so an easy bus journey saves the parking hassle and expense. How will I recognise fellow forumites??

Ashton Gate used to be a real sh*thole particularly for us away fans.  To be fair they've made a good job of the refurb (we're now at the other end of the ground) so all a bit more palatable.

Whoever we play I always fear teams including our ex-players.  Weimann and Martin both doing OK this season apparently. At least Paterson has moved on now.

Was there for the 3-2 evening defeat just pre (first) lockdown.  Spirited fightback from 3-0 down!  Let's hope WR has lifted spirits after the QPR reverse and we can turn them over.  That will make the chat with my City loving postie so much more fun on Monday morning.

Going to Cardiff two weeks later and Reading two weeks after that.  Then hopefully up to PP for a home game.

    COYR! (Rams, not Robins...)
