I think there is a story behind Mel's actions which very few are aware of. I simply can't believe that he would chose to run the club in such a terrible way if he had any other choice. Eventually, I think we'll find out and quite a few will feel they judged him harshly.
I don't think it has to do with liquidity though. Logically, his reasons for selling are probably one or more of; getting desperately short of cash, not feeling (mentally, physically or emotionally) capable of it or feeling that it's best for the club to have a more engaged owner.
Turning the club into a basket case just prolongs the losses and the aggravation because it becomes unsellable. If Mel just had to sell a hotel to be able to put another £10m in to stabilise the club, I'm sure he would because he could walk away far more quickly and with more cash. I think that Mel is far too desperate to use liquidity as an excuse.

I have said this before, but I bet nobody whose seat would have been dearer this season is writing to the club demanding that they be allowed to pay more to get them in line with people around them!
The club has simplified the pricing structure and there will be winners and losers, but I think this is one thing we shouldn't be beating the club up about.
Rams TV was worth every penny of the difference in my season ticket price imo. They were my lifeline in very strange times last season.

No it was lager? the thing is I was talking to him and my wife didn’t know who he was and just assumed he was another Derby fan, when he offered to buy us a drink she politely refused , then when Mel was at the bar I told her she had just refused a drink from a multi millionaire and she changed her mind .

Foreveram reacted to chezzyram in Stories of being in the ‘Home’ End
Not everyone was in the DLF or intentionally looking for trouble! I mentioned Bradford simply because it was a very scary experience being on the receiving end of chunks of concrete raining down with no cover, not glorifying in throwing them back. Football in the 70s and 80s was in a very different place and situations like this on away days were almost unavoidable. If you wanted to follow your team home and away every week you knew what to expect, knew the risks and took your chance. The only safe option was to stay at home and for many of us this was simply not an option, the adrenaline rush was part of the day
