Putting aside Rooney's wages and the financial questions to one side.
Seeing Rooney walk would be a disaster, it really would, not that I would blame him for a second if he was to walk, from a selfish point of view I hope his loyalty will not be tested by all of this.
For those wanting Rooney out, just think for a second, we're entering admin, the clubs future is unknown, how many experienced managers will look and think this is a great opportunity?
How many will walk in and have knowledge of our squad, the likes of Dylan Williams, Jack Stretton, Festy Ebosele, these are not household names but are now tasked with playing a part in turning round a minimum of -5 points.
Regardless of fans thoughts on Rooney, his tactics, his misdemeanours off the pitch, performances this season have improved. 
If his fight and loyalty can rub off on the players we stand a far better chance with him than without. 
Surely even those that want him gone can see now is not the time. Even if you can't show him any love, at least be able to tolerate him.
Thankfully in the ground he's been given incredible support so far this season, that HAS to continue and would be nice to see it extended online here and across social media to help create the siege mentality needed to stand any chance of staying up.

I'm with @RoyMac5 on this one. I don't think the EFL ever expected Mel to pull the plug and were enjoying keeping him squirming for as long as they possibly could, unable to sell us. As demonstrated by the threat in their statement earlier this week: "There are no timescales for this matter to be concluded and the League will not be providing any further comment at this time." 
Yes of course fault lies with Mel too, but whatever he's done wrong, for good or ill he's had the best interests of the club at heart. And clearly today that's shown to be for ill. But I don't believe in recent years the EFL have had the club's best interests or football's best interests at heart.

I understand that tonight many questions will be asked, both of the club and myself. 
Tonight as the news was broke, I was sat in the pub, still am, it's hit me hard as I'm sure it has you all, I was not expecting it, there was no pre warning, no hint of what was to come.
I also understand that over the years my opinion has been questioned, it's something I have had to deal with, sometimes poorly, but with the best and honest of intentions.
Tonight I am hurting, just as much as you all, this is the club I love, the club I adore, the club I have tattooed on my hand for all to see with pride. 
I love this club, please just think when posting over the next few days, weeks in anger, myself, the moderators, we do not deserve to be on the end of your anger or frustration.
Today is a dark day for the club, but as fans, we need to to stick together. We are Derby County, every one of us and we will move forward as one.

Fast forward to this season and I have seen nothing but support for the manager and players from the fans at the games and the atmosphere has been brilliant regardless of the result.

This kind of gratuitous faux-journalism is how rumours and supposition can get normalised through repetition, and become seen as fact, rather than ongoing speculation.
If you asked fans of other clubs about the DCFC saga they would already say: 'you got deducted 9 points, didn't you?' 
All this damaging spam from hacks helps to underline and legitimate the EFL's hopes or aims IMHO.

The football we have played this season, bar the West Brom game, is about as attractive as you can get from these players.

You are talking statistics again where I am talking about being at the game, I said ONE of the worst performances not necessarily in terms of the score line. We were actually above Brentford when we played and it was the first game after the 3-0 embarrassing   defeat at forest where we played the kids against our local rivals so that we would be fully prepared for Brentford. We were completely overrun in the first half with a completely isolated Buchanan who was replaced at half time. You say I am overreacting but with better finishing we would have been 8 nil down at half time. All this is from memory but as you like to look at it from a statistical point of view I looked it up, they had 22 shots we didn’t have a shot on target and they were sat in their deckchairs for the second half
