You have never supported Lawrence as a Derby player….he is playing very well in an average team with limited attacking support and you don’t like the fact a lot of the Derby fan base recognise his contribution to this team is very good. Also a lot of us fans like the fact he gives us some actual craft and quality on the ball that others lack.Whilst Lawrence is a Derby County player he has my full support and certainly we are better team with him to watch and enjoy.

To state that we're a poorer side when Lawrence plays is absolute drivel.

Somewhat misleading. Where were the shots taken from for example?
It'll probably come as no surprise that the 3 players in the top right of that chart have also had considerably more shots within 6 yards of goal than anyone else and therefore are a lot more 'clinical' than most as a result.
Within the penalty area (excluding 6 yards), Lawrence's conversion is roughly 20%, compared with Mitrovic's 26%.

Blame whoever was responsible for paying the fee - nothing to do with the player.

He's a match winner and we will miss him if/when he leaves.
He's scored or assisted 8 of our 18 league goals this season, thats not including goals like Plange v Blackpool that was made by him.

He earns about 10% of the club's overall wage bill. Based on contribution to the team on the pitch so far this season, I'd say he's putting in his fair share

A lot of people who are still criticising Tom now will be missing a player of his quality  in a couple years time when we’re still in League One and have someone we’ve signed from Yeovil on the wing. If you saw the state of Blackpool’s wingers on Saturday, you’ll get what I mean.
He’s done well this season but has benefitted from being a focal point in an otherwise featureless attack, his stock’s actually been helped by the situation.
He’s also matured a bit. I always have said he’s a player who has an amazing talent for shooting when he should pass and passing when he should shoot. He’s cut that out this season and now when he’s direct it’s so much more clinical.
I think whoever ends up with him after us will have one of the better inside forward type attackers in the Championship for possibly next to nothing.

Lawrence works his socks off. The intensity is there. He's also in the form of his life right now, at Derby at least.
We ae not better off without him in any way, shape or form. He is top in both the goals scored and assists made charts, with double the output of the next best.
We do not have 'plenty of players who will score goals to secure wins'. Indeed, without Lawrence, we present almost zero goal threat, save for via corners and set pieces. Save for Festy, Lawrence is also the only player we have with pace enough to get beyond oppo defences.
The only part of your post that makes any sense (just my opinion), is that Curtis should indeed be captain and he and Jags make a strong unit.

Yes we probably overpaid for him, but we were throwing money around at the time and the transfer fee and wages given to him are hardly his fault.
When you compare him to the likes of Johnny Russell or Jamie Ward, 2 "fan favourites" that played similar roles who are thought of fondly, his overall stats come out very similar. Worse than Ward but better than Russell, but then Ward played up front for a large part of his Derby career.
Then half the people on here still rate Jozwiak who has 1 goal and 3 assists in 54 games, it's clear that Lawrence is the scapegoat at the moment for the clubs issues.
Multiple different managers have picked him as first choice when available.
On top of this, his Mum died, he had addiction issues, and he has suffered from serious mental illness through all of his time here. Some of the comments on here about him are in poor taste.

Hi folks, I’ve been a long time lurker on the forum and thought I’d add my thoughts for once. I appreciate Lawrence will never be universally liked by everyone, my own opinion is that I like him, he’s a capable and occasionally frustrating player in a Rams shirt.
His Goals and Assists this season have directly helped us to a win against Bournemouth and draws against Millwall, Luton and Forest, 6 points in total. He also set up the goal against Barnsley, maybe the less said about that game the better…. I suppose my point is he is playing his part, if he carries on doing so and doesn’t leave in Jan it’s already looking like his most productive output, some will no doubt say it’s cause he’s trying to earn a move etc, for now I appreciate his effort and contribution to the team ?

Just watched the raw reaction video made by a bournmouth fan after yesterday's game.......they are proper shocked by the result, as am I to be honest, but a couple of there fans praised our support, 1 saying it's the best home support he has witnessed all season.... also watched another video by a guy, not a Derby supporter, but praising the performance, also condemning our predicament and how we have been treated compared to the breakaway 6, good to see and hear fans of other clubs actually being fair and honest.....I'm still buzzing from the display yesterday and the  result,  I honestly think the confidence that result will give the players  will drive the players on.....Fulham away......love it

Fully aware this will not be our starting 11. But this is what I'd like to see.
                          Marshall
    Byrne.   Jagielka.   Davies Buchanan
                Shinnie       Bird
                          Knight.
    .    Ebosele.   Kazim.  Jozwiak
If Rooney is going to change the keepers everytime one of them is poo. Then he'll be changing them lot. Both Roos and Allsop are a shambles. Stop messing about and play your best keeeper.
Forsyth had a shocker last night so I'd give Buchanan a go.
Morrison is suspended. But even if he wasn't, I'd drop him. Doesn't do anything.
    Lawrence deserves to be dropped.
I'd give Jozwiak a go, cannot do any worse than the players who have played the last 2 games.

Nice to get a relatively positive article for a change.
I know what Tom has been through, having lost both my parents as a teenager; glad I didn't have to mourn and live though my mistakes in the public gaze.
I so want him to succeed as captain and help Derby to better times.
    Good luck, Tom.

    I've said it since he's been here. He's a 1 in 8 player.
Will turn up, have a decent game, score a goal and then you won't see him again. Every season.
To make him captain was bizarre. Admittedly Davies & Jagielka weren't signed at that point. But Shinnie was here. So at that time I would have given it to Shinnie.
We never hear from him either. After a poor game or a difficult defeat, it's the same players who front up. Curtis Davies, Graeme Shinnie and last night it was Jagielka.
Davies had posted something on Instagram.
That's a captain. A captain is someone who says, lads this was awful today, we're gonna get some stick here. I'll be the one that fronts up and faces the media.
    Never ever does.
His contract is up in the summer. The sooner he's out of this football club. The better.
We're a better team without him in it.

Yes, we are not scoring many goals and he has contributed to more than most.
He is what he is. A talented attacking midfielder who can win games one week and frustrate the next as is the case with most in his position at this level. For every performance of his like Forest or Luton there will be one like last night. Surprisingly putting a piece of cloth around his arm hasn’t changed this but I don’t think that is his fault or justifies some of the stick I see he is getting in this thread (plenty not related to his captaincy at all). Besides, we only see what happens on the pitch. Maybe he is a good influence on Morrison behind the scenes, who he seems close with. Or maybe getting into a frenzy about who the captain is is a complete waste of energy because whoever wears that piece of cloth will not change the personality of the players selected. Davies and Jagielka will lead as it is in their nature to do so, perhaps Lawrence won’t. But who really cares?
I find it a shame that it has only taken a couple of poor results to see fans start ripping in to players again. Not just Lawrence but he is one that gets it more than most for whatever reason. It is not his or any other players or coaches fault we are in this position so it would be nice if we could continue to get behind them.
I dare say he had his chance to get out of this poo show in the summer and didn’t take it.
