Adored the man when he was in his pomp, smashing goals and much bigger defenders around the park.  I always got the feeling him and Arthur had a strained relationship.  Bobby absolutely loved the the fans when he was here, but maybe his eventual departures tainted his view of the club - I hope not.  After seeing the club on the brink and slipping into the old third division, these were my favourite days growing up, going home and away every week.  Football Specials, Cards, Pubs, Pork Pie, and always plenty of Beer - We seemed to have thousands of like minded lads who all came together.   Memories we cherish forever.
Bobby has been a pundit on Radio Derby a few times in the past, but I felt he was somewhat over critical - sad to learn he is a baggage handler.  He was a pro-footballer at the wrong time.
"So here's to you Bobby Davison, Derby loves you more than you will know !" - Great line and exactly how I feel.
    Whooa Bobby Bobby ...
    Cheers

is it not about what he did on the pitch ? if you went on a regular basis you could help being in awe of him, we where at the bottom of our decline and just hit the bounce on his arrival, one AC arrived he moved him from number 8 to 9 when KW left? he then stayed loyal to the club when big moves came along, Arsenal wanted him at one stage but he stayed with us to see the journey through, there is an interview from the time somewhere where he says as much, yes he probably felt bitter towards how he was treated at the end.

To Derby County fans of a certain age this man was God, he was our generations Kevin Hector, his name would reverberate around the Baseball Ground for many years, even long after he had left us, it was his goals that dragged us kicking and screaming up the football league, Peter Taylor’s last moment of genius to add to those many legends he had spotted years before with his mate Brian.
Bobby is a super proud man, he still doesn’t understand the cult hero status that he holds in Derby with the fans, I think that it is a sad reflection on football that he is now working as a baggage handler at Leeds airport.
He should be walking around in diamond encrusted shoes, driving his Aston Martin, he has tried numerous years to let back into the club as a coach with the youth team but that became impenetrable under a certain individual and also MM.
He worked at St George’s for the FA for a number of years.
In my eyes he is an absolute legend of Derby County, an absolute idol as a kid, when everybody else had the keegans, dalglshes and Linekers we had Bobby, we might have been in the third division but it didn’t matter !
he never missed those one on ones with the keeper, he got his head in where it hurt and he had that great 80s moustache.
so heres to you Bobby Davison, Derby loves you more than you will know !

Really don't get this, would much rather see Tommo play than White based on performance in a Rams shirt so far. But guess Warne knows best off course. Still a bit confused though, Warne really doesn't seem to rate Tommo at all i am afraid.

Some slating Hourihane is laughable IMO
If we wanted players who will run through brick walls and have constant energy like Knight for example we would not have signed Hourihane at all
He has scored some good goals and assisted quite a few as well so guess what ? if you take him out I don't think it would help.... He has never been a marauding CM and has value on the pitch for me as long as the other mids balance it out
To say he is one of the worst signings ever is a joke quite frankly....Mikkel Beck , Bob Malcolm , Derek Hales , Claude Davis , there's plenty of players deserved of that title and Hourihane is not one of them

Been trying to think of something erudite to add to all of this and all I can think of is poor old Foz! What should’ve been a day to celebrate him has got completely lost in that performance and the aftermath. I’m not sure a decade playing at one club is something we’ll see happen too often in league football again. Cheers Fozzy lad

We must be of the same era, probably my favourite Derby manager, not just because my dad shared his first name and looked a bit like him.  I suspect if Arthur was ever to be persuaded to come to Pride Park, Roy Mac would be the key.  I think it is a shame that this era in Derby's history seems to be overlooked - Take a look at the photo display behind the South Stand, the 80's and early 90s is completely missing, great times for us 50 pluses!

No apology necessary.  I have mentioned on this thread and on numerous occasions, they were the best times, in my teens, early twenties, watching the Rams and following them all over the country.  Like in this last season or so, our fan base came together, and we took over towns wherever we went, with Arthurs side fully committed and playing some of the best football of its time.
He always did shun the limelight but Arthur does deserve honouring and I would love nothing more than to see him at Pride Park, rather than something when he's gone.  I still feel a statue would be a fantastic tribute, maybe a Cox and McFarland one.

Apologies for resurrecting this thread, however, i got into a discussion on a FB group regarding Arthur and the high esteem he is held in by Rams fans who were lucky enough to witness his management time at Derby.  I understand that Arthur shuns publicity but i really think the club needs to make a concerted effort to get him to PP as a guest of honour and to allow us all to show our appreciation to him.  I think it would be a real special occasion (get a lump in my throat just thinking about it).
All too often we end up showing our respects with a minutes applause when they are gone, would really love to do something now.  I wonder if Mr Clowes could persuade him to make an appearance?  Do people think it would be worth persuing?

I just hope this doesn't put off the people who were attacked from following the Rams. I'm similar to notts ram as in not going to many away games these days and I thought the same at the Liverpool match. I was going away in the eighties and nineties so don't consider myself a shrinking violet but I don't think I've seen so many people off their nut as that night

The last time I watched us on sky(through now tv) was Birmingham a couple of seasons ago. The commentator, presenter, pundits all made out it was a good game, it wasn't both sides were awful, that Lee Bowyer was a tactical genius, basically a bunch of journeymen bullied a team of kids ,and that Troy Deeney signing for Birmingham was equalivant to Ronhaldo going back to Man Utd Jeez even blues fans aren't that sad I vowed from then on to stick with Ed Dawes and all his faults until last night. I,ve been laid up with a prolapsed disc so haven't been to a game since Bolton so decided to watch. Didn't put i on till 8 to miss the pre match drivel but did watch those three nobodies after. Pathetic absolutely pathetic. As the chant says sky tv ducking s***!!

Watching SKY it's easy to see that football is eventually going to die.
Whatever her name is, Jamie Mackie and Cowley 1 or 2 discussing tonight's penalty, said its a hard one to call, justifying the player cheating by saying White stuck his leg out so minimal if any contact was enough to dive, and praising the ref for giving a positive decision.
THE GAME IS DYING, and this mealy mouthed approval is just helping it on his way.
The Plymouth guy dived, they beat us because they cheated and that is apparently OK. We'll it isn't ok with me, you make your own minds up
