Fifpro have threatened FIFA with court action if they go ahead and bring in the World Club Championship, This will be 32 World Clubs to be played in July, FIFA already have extended the World Cup to 48 Countries, Football is now being saturated to the extent players are running out of "Gas"
Newcastle play their last game on Sunday then straight on a plane flying to Australia for more games, The £/$/€ is all conquering in a sport that will have reached it's limit of available time to play these games.
The World football authorities will be eating themselves to the bone if they refuse to take a step back.

Oh I’m not optimistic @Tamworthram . Not at all.  For change to happen there would have to be strong leadership something lacking across the whole of the sport - FA, Uefa, Fifa, referees, premier league, efl, TV, pundits -  you could go on and on. Not a strong leader to be seen. They can’t agree on and see the ills of the game let alone put them right.
Minor example. In our first home game of last season Korey Smith was booked for kicking the ball away to stop a quick free kick. Quite rightly - every club had been warned that would happen. How many examples did we see during the season of that happening (by our players as well as opposition players) that went unpunished? No leadership - no one spotting a problem and reinforcing a message and taking action, so it drifted. Just as the approach and attitude towards referees and their decisions has been allowed to drift over many years.
Until football administration in its widest sense gets proper leadership it will continue to drift - the wider sport that is. The wealthiest (and therefore strongest) will look after themselves. The sport as a whole will be, and is being, diminished. VAR, IMO, helps diminish the role of the referee, reduces their authority. Players could, if they chose to (the PFA has no dynamic, authoritative leadership now; nor the managers’ association), significantly help. They won’t.

    I agree.
Adam’s was the missing piece in the jigsaw who gave the team more presence, it took Warne far too long to realise that Bird and Hourihane were too lightweight as a pair.
I think Bird would thrive with Adam’s in the side but that’s obviously not going to happen.
We definitely need a couple of box to box midfielders with Smith a good option from the bench.
There seems to be lots of good midfielders becoming available on a free so we should be able to attract some good recruits.

It gives the official a get out of jail free card, Wrong call...VAR takes over, The Stockley Park operator is with his mate and they don't get the abuse the official would.
Ref says VAR taken over and I've been "over ruled" very rarely do refs overturn VAR, The standard of officials has got worse since VAR came to the fore...imo.

Last night Man Utd Vs Newcastle Anthony Gordon has his heel scraped in the penalty area...no pen and no VAR, Sky showed a close up of his sock...a gaping hole and stud marks on his Achilles...these incidents have been given by VAR but with it being Old Trafford...they bottled it 🙄

Dropped out of the team….following the knee injury he suffered on the pitch against Bristol Rovers on 25/11/2023 and subsequent recovery time of several weeks? Having been involved in all 17 league one matchday squads up to that point including playing 90 mins in 10 of those games? The same Korey Smith who seems to be a well liked and respected member of the squad and has from the outside seemingly always conducted himself as a top pro and played out of position for the cause? 🤔

This seems to be the crux of Wolves' arguments against VAR:
    1) Impact on goal celebrations and the spontaneous passion that makes football special.
    2) Frustration and confusion inside stadiums due to lengthy VAR checks and poor communication.
    3) A more hostile atmosphere with protests, booing of Premier League anthem and chants against VAR.
    4) Overreach of VAR's original purpose to correct clear and obvious mistakes, now overanalysing subjective decisions and compromising the game's fluidity and integrity.
    5) Diminished accountability of on-field officials, due to safety net of VAR, leading to an erosion of authority on the pitch.
    6) Continued errors despite VAR, with supporters unable to accept human error after multiple views and replays, damaging confidence in officiating standards.
    7) Disruption of the Premier League's fast pace with lengthy VAR checks and more added time, causing matches to run excessively long.
8 )Constant discourse about VAR decisions often overshadowing the match itself, and tarnishing the reputation of the league.
    9) Erosion of trust and reputation, with VAR fuelling completely nonsensical allegations of corruption.

Can't argue with too much of that personally.

Refs and linos generally do a pretty good job. If they were given a bit more respect by pundits VAR would never have been introduced. Its the cheating players that cause most of the penalty controversies, the offsides are usually very marginal. Hand ball is now farsical. It used to be quite simple, if the hand plays the ball its handball. If the ball plays the hand it isn't. Scrap VAR and pundits for goodness sake!
