I doubt he's a crook for the simple reason he's done nothing wrong...yet, Everything he's done he's signed it off himself, He becomes a crook when the relevant authorities go after him, Bring him to court if there's a case, Found guilty and sentenced...then he becomes a crook?

I get the impression that Kirchner was more deluded than deceiving. I believe he thought he had the wealth and was just a muppet.

Hang on. MM wouldn’t sell him the ground because CK wouldn’t pay 23m for it
Morris’ best mate for several moons was Samuelson so let’s not give him credit for the company he chooses

Don’t think Stretford got suckered by CK, not for one minute. They both assumed CK’s purchase would go through and probably didn’t agree what would happen if it didn’t.
Looks more like CK was cajoled by Stretford into re bidding, with Stretford (and others?) promising to provide some of the capital. And then the whole thing fell apart because CK couldn’t prove that the money he’d sent was his own

When he made his decision to leave everything was still up in the air. It's likely he decided when the Kirchner takeover fell through as his plans had been disrupted.

Warnock was the only pundit who was brave enough to say this from what I heard. He basically said: ‘Rooney’s got the easiest job in the Championship, a free hit”. There was an embarrassed silence in the studio - all the other pundits had been rabbiting foolishly on about what a difficult job he had, how he was showing immense loyalty simply by staying. It was tosh, skilfully manufactured by a hefty PR effort which comically earned him the freedom of the city. Embarrassing.
Rooney deserves a lot of credit for recruiting and motivation. But I still think we had a team last season that, well handled, was quite capable of staying up. And the truth is we weren’t even close. Tom Lawrence as skipper are you kidding ?

I wouldn't go as far as you have with the criticism. I honestly don't think anyone would have saved us from -21. I completely agree that last season was "a free hit" and it was a very smart move from brand Rooney to stick around. The truth is, it worked in terms of increasing his profile. Go to any mainstream football forum and you'll find it full of people wondering why Rooney took an MLS job when "he could have waited for a Premier League job". In what world does a manager who's only experience is getting relegated from the 2nd tier even get considered for a Premier League job?

This has more than a ring of truth about it. Also possible that he was involved in the Stretford CK funding shenanigans, and that his conduct there contributed to the departure

btw, how is it that we now know about the clause in his DC contract that says he can leave if the PL comes knocking ? I’d have thought it was a confidential provision (and DC certainly would not have leaked it).

There’s no way we will be due any compensation………Stretford and Rooney will have made sure of that.
The timing of his departure stunk almost as much as his cheerleading for Kirchner.
Time to move on..there is a new dawn breaking for our club, let’s make it a good one!

I don’t think in the 50s and 60s you’d have heard anything like the Billy Sharp chants, or chants insulting players’ wives. And anyway, there are a few time honoured rituals that have rightly fallen out of favour.

I think the club should take a stronger stance against offensive chants. Not least because last season showed us what an impact positive support has on the pitch
