Burns has got more tics than a hedgehog ! He pulled beautifully today and looked decent against spin (normally he doesn’t). But he’s unorthodox without having the genius of say Steve Smith. Hope he gets a ton tomorrow but don’t think he’s got the technique to average 35 in tests in the long run which is not enough.  Thank God Sibley’s gone tho

Great to see Hameed get stuck in. Still fancy him and Crawley as openers in the long run but Burns was looking in control today.

Bet Nixon has done no more than looked at companies house site and seen the accounts are not uploaded. I don’t think he’s got a clue what we have given the EFl

That's basically what I said though.  It doesn't need to be a completely new accounting code written from scratch, but if they're writing a whole load of new rules on top of the existing ones, then everything I said still applies - they still need proper consultations to write those rules, to pay in-house auditors to sign off on clubs accounts, proper enforcement and the clubs to pay for it etc etc.  They either need to document and publish *exactly* what they want clubs to do, or just leave it alone and trust that the accountants and auditors know what they're doing.
Yeah, I read it as Kevin suggesting we make that the default process for everyone, but I think we had slightly crossed wires.

Not so sure. We’ve looked so good this season when we play the ball short along the ground. CKR is a hero but without him we may play a better brand of football

Ravel Morrison on his game and a fully fit Bielik will absolutely dominate most teams in this division between them. I hope we are in a position to see it at some point.

A very naturally talented footballer. Worth the admission alone. Far too good for this division. Lucky to have him.

I would imagine this has been promised to a number of our summer signings (if not all of them).

At the end of the day it will probably be the difference between finishing 5th and 6th so there's no point crying over split milk.

I think it’s in fact within the EFL regs - something they call an ‘agreed decision’ which is used to avoid a formal dispute. But tbh I’d need to check. I guess that before agreeing a sanction in this way the EFl would discuss it with a number of clubs to ensure there is support. Let’s see what happens

But I think all we need to do re the EFl is slap in the returns. We don’t need their sign off (though we have obviously tried to get it in advance). If the EFl have a problem with the returns, they need to start another case against us which as we know will take ages to resolve. So provided HMRC are sorted, Tuesday sounds plausible. Big week ahead!

Malan is a good player, but I don't think he's a number 3. He's similar to Joe Root and Ollie Pope in that he can accelerate the scoring and increase the run rate once the new ball has been worn down.
I agree about Crawley, he definitely has the ability but had it not been for that 267, he'd have been dropped a while ago. I've got high hopes for Hameed as an opener. Not a good return test for him, but he's looked great for Notts this year. I feel a bit sorry for Sibley, as he's usually done his job over blocking the new ball, but gotten out in silly ways when England are chasing the game in the 4th innings. Our middle order is a bit weak and #batdeep is no longer so Sibley scoring 20 of 90 balls looks terrible, when for a lot of teams that's a job well done.

Hmmm.  In Rooney’s early days we saw some of the fluency we saw yesterday. There is a core of players who generate that fluency and who thrive on it. Too often, those players have not been picked.

Wish he had scored.  We were fluid tonight and it suits him perfectly - he wants to receive the ball on the move. Usually the cement has set around his feet when he receives it and he can’t cope with that. I’ve been losing faith in him but he showed tonight what he can do

He couldn't have picked Baldock before last night though could he?! CKR was our only experienced striker.
