  1. GK: Hopefully none if Wildsmith signs

Defenders: A new centre back and left wing back to leave us with; Ward, Wilson, Nyambe, Nelson, Bradley, Cashin, Forsyth, Elder, plus 2 new

Midfielders: Adams (fingers crossed), Sibley, Thompson, plus 3 more in my opinion. Could keep Smith and make that 2 more if we don't have the funds.

Forwards: A new winger and 2 new strikers: NML, Barkz, CBT, new winger, Wash, Collo and 2 new strikers

FWIW i rate Gayle better than Collins but got a sneaky feeling we'll only offer 1 of them a new deal and reckon Collins will get rewarded for his endeavours over the season. I don't mind Collins and Wash on the bench but wouldn't want them starting many.

  2. Think Nyambe is a good option to have.

Defensively solid can play right back or right centre back and i doubt he's earning a wedge.

Think another centre back and another left wing back is all we require to strengthen for next season.

  3. Glad to see that Warne has got the necessary praise for the job he's done.

    My own personal journey with him is as follows;

    • Delighted he got the job because I found LR ball boring.
    • Gutted we stuttered out the play offs last season but still fully behind him.
    • Wanted him gone after Stevenage.
    • Accepted DC stance and our improved form softened me to him again.
    • Delighted he's taken us up and believe he deserves a crack at keeping us there.

My expectations of next season is for us to finish bottom 8 so unless we're doing a Wednesday from earlier on this season or Rotherham throughout the entirety of this season then i'll be content with whats going on. Whether PW can take us to the next level (PL) is debatable but i think we're at least 3/4 seasons away from entering that picture so plenty of ups and downs to digest before then.

Hopefully we can see a wave of positivity behind him and the team now and over the summer. Although i can't help but think if we lose our opening couple of matches a few posters toys will be thrown out their pram, hopefully i'm wrong.

Congrats Paul, keep up the good work.

I don't mean any offence by this, but that just seems such a miserable and sad outlook to have on it. As a football fan of a normal (I'm hesitant to call Derby normal) club who no one in their right mind would glory support, you seldom get anything to ever celebrate. You rarely achieve a thing. If you can't enjoy it, specifically when we have gone through what we have, what's the actual point in it all?

    Totally agree.

Maybe because i watched the match on the tv with my mates and then none of them wanted to get on the lash. So the day ended earlier than expected.

Don't get me wrong i'm happy we're up but i can't say I've enjoyed the last two years, just didn't sit right playing the like of Morecambe etc because of one mans madness.

Glad to see the back of it and hope to never return.

I can understand those regular away fans that were able to buy tickets and experience new grounds, was an adventure for you all.

Not wanting to sound arrogant, a club of this size should not have been playing at these grounds outside of cup competitions and pre season. There is a reason why Derby last season was a big day out for most of the league.

I'm glad we won't have to play Burton and Mansfield next season, I'm glad we won't have to feature on Welcome to Wrexham and we're back to one promotion away from being back in the top flight.

The Premier League has it's faults, VAR is terrible, we're never going to win the thing and it's all about the big 6, yet Brighton, Brentford, these are clubs we should replicating in some form and on the cusp of breaking into the European spots.

If League 1 was an adventure, imagine taking a couple of days off work midweek to fly out to Prague on the lash and watching Derby.

I bet Leicester City fans never thought for a second they would achieve what they did.

I'm fully aware we are still miles away from that, our immediate focus has to be Championship survival, then stability before we can think about progressing to the next step of chasing promotion.

But we're closer now than we would have been had we lost on Saturday and Bolton won.

    Bang on the money.

As you say the away ends looked jolly good fun, but as i'm not an away follower i only ever found being in League 1 as some inconvenience i could do without.

Sadly as much as i enjoyed Saturday i do feel that my contempt for the league stopped me from going OTT with emotion. Just glad to be back were we at the very least belong. Hopefully in 5 seasons time we can look at seriously pushing for promotion to the PL which i'm sure i would definitely go mad for.

  6. If we could cherry pick any team to play for this match it would be Carlisle at home. If we mess it up its on us.

I've been bad for this, but i think all this talk of Posh's weakened side is nervous chat.

FWIW i think Bolton will win on sat but not by more than +2 GD which means we'd have to lose by -2GD at home for the first time this season.

Hopefully we get a early goal, hopefully whilst not match fixing Simmo isn't bothered if we win and we can all relax with a promotion in the bank come Saturday night.

Nombe - 2 league goals in the equivalnet to 32 games
Clarke-Harris - Only 2 starts this calander year, with a player who our U18 staff felt was better on the wing when with us 3 years ago preferred upfront. He's only played the equivalent to 16 league games this season.

Not saying we should sign him but in JCH defence i think his lack of match time has come from him turning down moves away and upsetting DMAC and Fry.

  8. I do think that Paul Warne will fall in to the category of you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone.

Fair enough tactically there’s a question mark and in the transfer market there’s a smaller question mark (Adam’s and Gayle) have bought him back some credit. But his interviews are interesting in my opinion. Much rather listen to Warne waffle than the usual media trained cliches.

Warne has also clearly changed the culture in the club. We were suffering an admin hangover when he came in. Now we’re 1 point from promotion with admin far in the wing mirror. The players seem to love him as well.

Assuming the nightmare scenario doesn’t occur next week I suggest everyone enjoys the promotion, sips or chugs a beverage of their choice and enjoy the summer.

  9. The only squeaky bum time will come if we lose tomorrow even if its by 1 goal and Bolton win by 3+ goals. That would mean we're neck and neck going in to the final match and i believe their goals for is better so we'd need to beat their goal difference. If Posh muck up one of their matches this also means that going in to the final match their hopes are all but extinguished and could rest players.

That nightmare scenario said, i'd expect us to score more on the last day against Carlisle than Bolton would away to a slightly weaker Posh team. My only caveat would be that Posh's defence is far from solid at the best of times so we couldn't call this a banker.

Hopefully we won't put ourselves in this position and at the bare minimum we get a point tomorrow.

As someone said above, Posh can't finish with more than 89 points, same as Bolton, and we still have GD advantage over both.

So - if we reach 90 points it doesn't matter what either of them do.

Bolton's result last night puts them behind what I predicted, and makes it unlikely that they can now overtake us unless bizarre things happen on the final day.

    Possible scenarios Rams v Trotters:

We win the last 2 games and we are 2nd no matter what.

We win and draw the last 2 games and we have 90 points and are still 2nd no matter what.

We draw both games, and if Bolton win both theirs then they are 2nd (89 points to our 88).  Same thing would also be true if Posh won their last 3.  However, since Posh play Bolton BOTH of those scenarios happening at once is impossible, it would be either one or the other above us but not both, and we would finish 3rd, with all the playoff advantages that brings.  Let's hope however that it doesn't come to that.

That seems to me to be a reason to really go for it on Saturday, as a win would really take the pressure off.  No point accepting a point on Saturday, as this would only increase the pressure to win on the last day.

If we won on Saturday and got to 89 points then GD would kick in, and we would still finish 2nd no matter what happens on the last day.  Or at the very least we would go into the last day knowing that only the combination of both a heavy loss for us and a big win for Trotters or Posh (possible but unlikely) would change anything.

Was thinking about this earlier. If Bolton are winning by 2 or more with 20 minutes to go, assuming we’re drawing against Cambridge, I wouldn’t go uber attacking. If they’re only winning by 1 then I agree to roll the dice and try and steal 3 points.

Even with our ‘easier’ match on the final day I’d want at least a 2 goal cushion on goal difference.

That said ultimately I think even with a defeat at the weekend we should go up. If we need to score 3/4 against Carlisle then there’s no reason why we can’t.

  11. Can't see anything but a Bolton win. Think Shrewsbury had a sweet spot that started around the time they played us and lasted until they're almost safe.

Think the battle may have left them. But alas if we mess it up from here then we only have ourselves to blame.

Yea yea ( yawn ) you then go on to say Wilson is called the buffalo because he’s just a bulldozer,,, perhaps that’s just his build ? Very early the wife and I nicknamed him twinkle toes because he has very good fast feet and excellent dribbling skills , do you actually watch games or just read stuff 🤷🏻‍♂️,

well done though , we are arguing the toss over this negative and that negative right after a fantastic day / win ,, of course you have covered this well and set the ground by posting in places that you are certain we will be promoted , leaving you free and clear to pick holes in everything 👏👏👏👏👏

I thought he was called the buffalo because of his poor internet connection.

  13. The biggest concern at the moment is that every match seems to be a real battle.

I think maybe earlier in the season when the pressure was off, Warne's simple tactics allowed us to win some games with ease. However the last 5/6 have been gruellers.

If you have to make an excuse you could point it to Gayle getting injured when we were flying after a 3-0 and 2-1 win respectively.

Everything for me is down to how we finish. Promotion? Happy days he's earnt his money and deserves a crack at the championship. Failure? In my book he needs to go.

The only two saving graces Warne has is that the players seem to love him and if we brought in someone new, they'd need to assess the squad for a month before starting our transfer business.

@Ghost of Clough As I mentioned yesterday, these stats don't show what our manager is trying to do with the club and I think you'd admit (if you saw the game yesterday) that we have moved away from the Dark-Arts and that we are looking to do something with the ball.

The stats from last night prove that we can step it up with the more challenging teams that we play against. From last night's viewing, it looked like a even fixture overall. You were well on top for the first 15 minutes before Wycombe got their act together and started to match you up across the pitch. I'd go as far as saying that in the last 10/15 minutes, we looked the more threating.

However, a draw was a fair result even though the game didn't deserve the score line of 0-0! Good luck to you guys for the rest of the season and I'll keep an eye on your run-in. It tighten up as we get closer to the final day of the season but looking at those in the play-off battle, I think you'll have a good day out at Wembley in the Play-Offs (if you don't go up automatically!) Just make sure you don't give Oxford anything to be happy about!

    Good luck!

Thought you guys played some nice stuff at times. The amount of times the ball got flicked round the corner by one of your two strikers to find another Wycombe man was infuriating.

My only issue was the time wasting in the last 10 minutes. I mean come on your seasons dead what’s the point?

But can’t complain that a draw was a fair result.

Bolton played sh*te against Rovers on Saturday. They looked second best. I sat through it because derby weren’t playing.

Maybe playing was the wrong term from me, but they won 2-0. We play like poo and have to settle for 0-0.

I can’t see us putting Leyton Orient to the sword. Think we might batter Carlisle but that could be a dead match if we don’t buck our ideas up.

  16. Our main issue is that Bolton and Peterborough are playing like teams who deserve to go up. Before people point out posh’s shock result against Carlisle, I’m referring to how many goals they’re scoring.

We seem unable to score more than 1 (minus Pompey) in recent weeks. We’re really making hard work of it. Are we running on empty?

If we win our last 3 we’d be unlucky to miss out on 92 points but as things stand our momentum has somewhat stalled.
