  1. I guess it was a mixture of trying to bring the tempo of the game down because some of our players were starting to feel the effects of Sunday's match, not wanting to give you all 3 points and slight mind games but I'm not a football manager so what do I know!? I've seen that you guys think you played poorly but our commentators are normally quite fair and they don't "big up" teams or players if they didn't think they were good, maybe our standards might be different 🤷‍♂️. Anyways, if you guys have a few more gears to move into after yesterday's performance, Auto's (or Play-off's if the gods aren't being kind) shouldn't be a problem
  2. @Ghost of Clough As I mentioned yesterday, these stats don't show what our manager is trying to do with the club and I think you'd admit (if you saw the game yesterday) that we have moved away from the Dark-Arts and that we are looking to do something with the ball. The stats from last night prove that we can step it up with the more challenging teams that we play against. From last night's viewing, it looked like a even fixture overall. You were well on top for the first 15 minutes before Wycombe got their act together and started to match you up across the pitch. I'd go as far as saying that in the last 10/15 minutes, we looked the more threating. However, a draw was a fair result even though the game didn't deserve the score line of 0-0! Good luck to you guys for the rest of the season and I'll keep an eye on your run-in. It tighten up as we get closer to the final day of the season but looking at those in the play-off battle, I think you'll have a good day out at Wembley in the Play-Offs (if you don't go up automatically!) Just make sure you don't give Oxford anything to be happy about! Good luck!
  3. You wouldn't have guessed but we signed him from a Step 9 club in Jan....
  4. Just a warning @Premier ram that's its normally a Home Only pub so you might be moved on but just check with the people behind the bar.
  5. I'm not hiding behind any of those stats and I did say it was since January things had started to improve, not August. Rome wasn't built in a day and we still have a lot of players who played under Gareth Ainsworth style. Just out of interest, what were our stats for the previous years @Ghost of Clough?
  6. Personally, I'd try and park somewhere else. Parking at the ground, you are held for (at least 25 minutes) for the fans to leave and the road to be clear of fans walking home / to their cars. That being said, I'd look at the roads in the area to park on and walk, parking at the industrial areas can also be chaos and then you are trying to drive through a road with all the fans walking down. I'm not going to lie, we have one of the worst placed grounds in the country. While the scenery looks lovely in the spring & summer, it does seem to take an age to move anywhere.
  7. The Flint Cottage isn't bad for a drink however I don't remember if it does food. You have the Falcon which is a Wetherspoons if you want a pint and something to eat and thats at the bottom of the hill and towards the middle of town. Bear in mind, you'll have a taxi journey to get to the ground from the Station, I wouldn't walk it as it's too far away
  8. I've read through your comments, some of your points are valid and I can understand where you've come from and some are a little outdated. In the past and under Gareth Ainsworth, we were the masters of the dark arts and I'll be the first to admit that the football was sometimes very horrible to watch but he did guide us to our most successful period which causes a lot of our fans to ignore our style of play. However, this season has been a change under Matt Bloomfield. He has been willing to move away from the slow game and look to try and get some more "flow" into our game. Hopefully those at the game and watching at home might see a bit of difference. This change has been more noticeable since Jan Transfer Window when we brought in new players. I think it's safe to say that Stevenage and Northampton have looked at the dark-arts this season and have mild moments of success with it. With regards to our game at Wembley on Sunday, one big thing that changed our style of play was the pitch size. We have a habit of sitting back and hitting teams on the counter on the bigger / wider pitches. However, when we play at home, our pitch is on the smaller side of the measurements which allows us to play with a little bit more pace and our game plan changes. Yes, Peterborough had an awful lot of the ball at Wembley but for a long periods of time, all they did was move it from side to side looking for a gap. As someone mentioned, they had 70% possession, managed only 1 more shot on target that Wycombe and only won it with a wind-assisted cross. It looks like tonight will be a really interesting fixture. We have 4 "fresh" players coming into the side as they were cup-tied from Sunday's game and several of the players are looking to improve on their performance from Sunday (Please note that I haven't mentioned that I thought we played well on Sunday - we didn't!). You guys looking threating and I've watched several of your highlights and think that you'll ask several questions of our defence. You will be fresher than us after having a nice 9 day break without a game so that does make us nervous too. It will all be decided on the pitch in the 90 minutes. Good luck!
  9. Hi All, I hope you are all good? Come in peace, I just wanted to let those who are driving down know about things to think about before getting to the ground. At the moment, there are 2 different sets of roadworks that have temp traffic lights. One is on a busy bit of the A40 and the other is on Lane End Road (the road that links to the stadium's road). I hope that makes sense? If the M40 is trouble-free, I'd go down to Junction 4, that way you'll miss the first set of roadworks. However, the M40 has been an accident hotspot of late so judge when you get closer to the area. Hope everyone has a safe journey down
