My gut is that he'll wind up at Bolton or Birmingham .  He'd be perfect for Bolton with their attacking options that need some muscle.  We need to get used to paying a million for a player if it helps retain a position in this league.  big money at League 1. A pee in a pot in this one if it retains a larger ongoing pot of money and helps retain any young talent coming through. 500 k this year, same next year.  If we are still chasing, he must be deemed important enough.

Agree that it’s either us or an ambitious league 1 club. Can’t see any paying the £1m fee though so could be a long old summer for Ebou.

They also said that Cardiff have an option to extend 1 year on his deal, so essentially he has 2 years left. Unfortunately I think we have to move on.

Disappointing for Ebou. Doubt anyone is paying that, so unless the manager has a change of heart he’ll be stuck twiddling his thumbs.

Funny  how these rumours appear after a sending off. If he was a bad egg why wasn’t it mentioned before? The reason is it’s made up crap that people post to give the impression they have knowledge the general fan base don’t.

    Maybe.

I haven't heard much else either way.

Providing he's got a good attitude i'm happy for him to stay, but would like us to sign another centreback to push him down the queue.

  4. Pure speculation but can only think he valued himself more than what we were offering. Probably expected another club to match him with his demands.

Only offers he got was League 1 or clubs not willing to match his money. WBA probably have given him his agreed wage but he comes in as a number 2.

A bit odd, but no hard feelings from me regards his future.

  5. Must admit out of the 3 names linked with us. Hladký as the 4th man and trusting @SECornerRAM i'm a tad underwhelmed.

Think he'll be a solid signing, but Iversen and Rodak are better age wise and I'd accepted it would be Ryan with all the twitter noise.

Think when the dust settles he'll be useful, but don't remember Ipswich being obnoxiously good in defence last season. They just seemed to keep scoring last minute winners.

STOP arguing about how good Bradley is and how underwhelmed you are with our business on this thread.

    This the the RUMOURS thread.

If you have a rumour no matter how tenuous share it so we can get excited about things that might never materialise.

Sick of logging on, seeing another 2 pages added to this for it to be bickering about Bradley instead of some transfer gossip.

Yes please move the Sonny Bradley debate to the Sonny Bradley page.

I could be wrong, but when the 24/25 accounts are released in 2026 then I would be very surprised if their wage bill is higher than ours.

    The latest released accounts:

    Preston 22/23 - turnover: £15.5m & wages: £21.5m over 134 staff (85 football related).
    Derby 22/23 - turnover: £20.4m & wages: £17.2m over 177 staff (59 playing staff - presumably doesn't account for coaches, like Preston).

It was our first season in League One, I would assume last season it would be close and going into this season that we will be fairly significantly higher once we're finished in the window. We will probably be close to double the turnover too (in fairness).

Well either way he hasn’t chosen us, so no point crying over spilt milk etc.

  8. Let’s face it the only reason why Derby fans are upset is because an Icelandic midfielder is exotic for our standards. That plus PNE aren’t bigger than us so Derby fans have taken it as a personal attack.

They can offer more wages and that’s just the way it is. Hopefully we have a couple more foreign gems lined up.

So it isn't only Southgate that plays football that could send a glass eye to sleep, and it's actually how a lot of the top international teams play...well I never

To be fair I don’t rate Martinez either and Deschamps has credit in the bank for winning the World Cup.

Germany and Spain have both shown how top national sides should be playing.

  10. Only Southgate could play football that sends a glass eye to sleep. But as the tournament goes on he comes back in to favour because inexplicably Portugal and France have been just as bad.

I always thought the too many matches narrative was a load of tosh but on this summers showing it could be the case.

I enjoyed it until the end, which I felt was very rushed (no spoilers). Seeing as that was the bit that was made up, I just felt they could have made a more interesting conclusion.

    Agree with this totally.

Decent comedies are in short supply these days. Glen Powell put in a star turn and I think a 7/10 rating is more than fair.

But the ending did seem to just come out of nowhere, plus whilst the main 'bad guy' was a nuisance to the protagonist he didn't stir up enough trouble in my eyes to warrant how it ended.

    Watford I have heard…

Would be surprised if Watford got Cash. I’d assume we’d want top dollar and don’t think they’ve splashed the cash for a season or so now.

    Guess we’ll see.

  13. I have to laugh at some of the uproar on social media.

Its been well publicised about the deal and the fact that at least half the matches will be on sky and therefore at an inconvenient time.

Whether its right or not is a different debate, but no point crying over spilt milk, it is what it is.

Forgot Vaulks.  I'd be happy to go into the opening match with those midfield options, although Branningan isn't as good as mooted, he is adequate alongside Vaulks. They have one we wanted and another we wanted to keep.  This is Oxford, not a parachute club.  I'm rather worried about this competitive budget.

I'm not sure our offer to Sibley would've been that good and if he's not that fond of playing wingback it would make sense for him to move on.

Sibley may well move to Oxford and rip it up, which would cue us all to slam Warne and the club. But I've seen enough of him to think he'd struggle to progress much more with us. He just never seemed to be able to hold down a place, outside of playing wingback ironically. Sometimes a player needs a move just to freshen things up.

I'll happily ask questions of Warne and the club come the end of the window if we've fallen short, but for now we can only trust the process.

Not sure it would cause NML to punch a woman in the face and steel her phone.

The only reason I would want to steel someones phone would be if they had a video on there of me that I wouldnt want the world (or missus) to see and I was being blackmailed....then I would have to whip out the hawk tuah!

    I'm sorry?

Rumoured Striker Options so far  24/25

    James Collins

    Dajaune Brown

    Jerry Yates

    Kayden Jackson

    Connor Washington

    Last Season’s striker options

    James Collins

    Connor Washington

    Martyn Waghorn

    Dwight Gayle

    Tyreece John Jules

The step up in quality is undeniable between  the two divisions and I’m struggling to see a major difference between the two lists

With Collins signing a new deal. Our only hope is that KJ will be used more out wide than as a forward. Brown gets loaned out. Or the dream, we sell Wash.
