Loved the Spotted Horse. As a 15/16 year old you could only get served in pubs on match days when it was too busy for the barman to pull you up about your age.
We used to mingle in with older lads and get served in there, They also had cheese and ham rolls on sale which was unusual in 1975!
The walk to the ground from there with a group of blokes drunk on Double Diamond and Skol Lager was exciting and sometimes dangerous as you'd meet away mobs on Ossie Road/Ivy Square.
What a time to be a young Derby fan. ??♥️

K O'reily, L Lightning, O Owen, Herbie, F Howard, ACCA, P Millward, Geordie, P Clarke would also sink a few in there, Also a female called Freddie...Then a march to the ground up Saint Peters Street.

oldtimeram got a reaction from Premier ram in The Spotted Horse
Who remembers the bovver boys with their Doc Marten boots and short jeans who used to congregate in the Spotted Horse before matches in the 1970s. I only went in there once to meet my mate Tez Sprinthall and found it to be way too intimidating for my taste lol
Any memories of those days in there?

Bob
Here's a pic of me wearing a hideous velvet suit with Roy. Directly behind me is your mate Ron Webster but I doubt you can tell from this pic. It was taken at the Mayor's reception after we won the league in 1975. Do you recognise any of the others on the photo?

oldtimeram got a reaction from 48 hours in Sorry for upset I caused
I much prefer to sit, but as with some away grounds I've been to, the fans stand, so I just go with the flow and stand with them.
All I would say B4 is, if everyone around you is sitting, I'd suggest you sit or, if possible, find another seat where the majority are standing. I appreciate if it's a sell out this may be difficult for you. You never know, there may be someone in the standing section that would prefer to sit (me for example) who would happily change seats with you?

I wanted to use the laughing and crying emoji at the same time!
Brilliant pic!
I shared this before so apologies if you read it then and I'm sounding more self indulgent than usual. But Roy gave my dad the shirt that he wore in the Charity Shield by way of thanks for him helping with his testimonial (I think) his work and I ducking lost it when we moved to the US. Still gutted about that because I wanted to give it to @loweman2
The woman on the right looks frighteningly like Princess Margaret. Was she a Ram?
And yes, I now I think about it the old man was initially friends with Jack and then later John.
A lot of staff thought the old man was a director because he was friendly with so many and then one day they asked him to become one.
I can still remember him telling us in the Sportsman Lounge after he'd been down in the players lounge. He was beyond excited.....until he found out how much cash they expected him to put into the club!
I have no clue what the amount was, or even if I ever knew, but I suspect it'd barely cover a days pay of a top league player nowadays.
One person on here when I posted the photo originally asked what Roy Orbison was doing there not knowing it was my dad. Funny though!

Agree 100%.We can lose on Saturday and it does not make a great deal of difference in the bigger scheme of things. Losing to the Froggies is unthinkable

Strolling, just strolling by the lights of the BBG. I don't envy the rich with their Greaves and their Law's, just give the ball to Kevin and he'll show you how to score, while strolling, just strolling..........
