It was time for Wayne to walk away last season! The mentality and energy of the players is just not there!!

We should be scrapping and chasing everything with the amount of youth we have in the team, instead we look lethargic and uninterested, just like the manager!

Obviously team selection alone is only part of the puzzle. We need to bin off the split midfielder tactic & allow attacking midfielders to stay around their final 3rd. They're on the park to create, not dictate tempo & Stretton needs help up there.
Would bring in Ebosele in for Byrne after the latter's poor start to the season. Whilst agree that Festy's future lies up the park, he'll probably find it a bit easier attacking from deep. I'd also bring in Sibley & Watson as part of a fluid 3 behind Stretton...yes, its a very young attacking unit but Jozwiak looks off it & all have played together a lot for u23s
Want us to control the ball so Morrison drops deep alongside Bird replacing Shinnie, who has offered laboured sideways passing & weak defensive cover so far this season

I’d like to once again express my admiration for the Humber Bridge and take a moment to applaud it ?
Every game Sibley doesn’t start from now on will make me more and more anti-Rooney
Although being anti-Rooney is pointless as I honestly don’t think we can afford to sack him

Sadly got to assume there’s no Kaz for this one. So I’d imagine Stretton gets the nod even if we’re able to bring someone in.
If Stretton is leading the line then we’ll have to do something very different tactically and Sibley will have to start as Stretton will need support. No more complicated, utterly nonsensical tactics.

Pretty woeful first half summed up neatly by Lawrence’s free kick just before half time. Come on West Brom get your cheque book out.

Thanks for all the replies thus far.

Roos: seems to have improved dealing with aerial balls into the box, passing generally excellent, takes too long to decide and will come a cropper this season when being closed down, no chance with goals but got lucky with 35 yarder (5.5)
Byrne: looked better going forward once Ebosele was replaced, booked yet again, the Posh #3 could clearly put a decent cross in so needed to deal with that threat but didn't, made a complete horlicks of the situation for the winner, a second poor performance in a row (3.5)
Forsyth: the better of the full backs but hardly a ringing endorsement, generally solid but didn't provide attacking threat and will always be undone by anyone with pace  (5.0)
    Stearman: steady if unspectacular (6.0)
Davies: as above really, should be given the armband when on the field (6.5)
Bird: not destructive enough to be a DM in my opinion although did break stuff up better today, needs to show better range of passing but that isn't easy when CKR is often the only option available (5.0)
Shinnie: woeful first half but noticeably better after the break, partnership with Bird in CM area offers little creativity and needs addressing asap (5.0)
Morrison: I rolled my eyes when I read of our interest in Ravel but his attitude seems spot on to be fair, brave header led to our goal, the only Ram with guile and drive from midfield (7.0)
Ebosele: started well but faded, not helped by whatever the idea was to get him and Byrne working as a partnership, promise and pace aplenty but greater composure needed, only a young lad obviously and maybe impact from the bench for a few games (5.5)
Lawrence: a couple of nice moments but that's not enough for us, too keen to go to ground (a team trait today I noticed), not his fault he's captain but a truly bizarre decision by Rooney, a typical TL10 performance in many ways (4.5)
Kazim: had no service but couldn't make the ball stick when it came his way, does his best work when coming deeper and picking a pass forward but we didn't see that today and wouldn't have had any runners for him to hit anyway, injured (4.5)
Stretton: poor first touch on several occasions but will get chance to work on that assuming he's our number one (only) striker for the forseeable, fantastic strike of a dropping ball deserved the luck of the deflection for his first league goal, more mobility than Kazim and that should help Watson and/or Ravel and/or Bird to use their passing ability (6.0)
Sibley: his energy and drive stick out like a sore thumb in this Derby side, needs to start, as much a walking yellow/red card as ever before though (6.5)

    I disagree.
We've played 2 teams who are relegation rivals and got 1 point.
We don't have a senior striker on the books.
    Unless things change.
    We have no hope.

Roos 5 - whilst not responsible for the goals, thought he was jittery all match. Lot of dithering on the ball nearly gifting them chances & a very fortunate stop first half
Byrne 2 - appalling. Responsible for both goals, failed to stop delivery from their left & offered nothing going forward
Forsyth 6 - played well until late on but missed header in build up to equaliser
Stearman 7 - did nothing wrong. Steady all game again
Davies 7 - again, did nothing wrong. Good display
Bird 6 - some crucial dispossessions (incld off Marriott in box) & some neat passes but this tactic of split DMs isnt helping him
Shinnie 5 - terrible first half, all sideways balls & ponderous defensive cover. Better second half when he stepped up but lacks quality & technique to cope with heavy press
Morrison 7 - at heart of anything positive attacking wise. Fantastic header to set up Stretton's goal & some great long balls
Ebosele 6 - one very good burst with a ball across the 6 yard box but struggled to make an impact other than that
Lawrence 5 - can't fault the effort but a lot of wayward quality. Dont like seeing him so deep
Kazim 5 - hard to mark as he got absolutely nothing to work with first half. Up against 3 CBs so tough day
Stretton 7 - great goal & actually played the front man role well in general...helped that he had more service than Kazim got though
Sibley 7 - dont understand why hes not starting. Makes an impact everytime including one sublime ball across 6 yard box that Stretton nearly turned in

Roos  6.  Not at fault for either goal  steady otherwise, kicking is questionable but we insist on playing it backwards to him and putting him under pressure
Byrne   3. Steady game until the last minute calamity Sunday pub league attempted clearance. Loses 3 points for costing us a point against a team who will be down there with us at the end.
Forsyth  5. Average game from Fozzy.
Stearman  5. Settling into a partnership with Davies, working around the lack of pace. Too much tippy tippy passing around the edge of our box. Only following orders though.
Davies   5. As above. Should be wearing the captains armband.
Bird   4. Offers very little imho. Breaks up the odd attack but most of his games, including today, are instantly forgettable.
Shinnie  4. As above again except runs around a little bit more. Always seems one tackle away from a booking. Him and Bird are the worst midfield duo I have seen since my first match in ‘86.
Morrison    6. Flashes of what he is capable of. Looked for and wanted the ball. Hopefully will continue to improve and we see the real player in a few weeks.
Ebosele    4. Tough for him today. Our master plan of pinging it long for him to chase was sussed out quickly and left him chasing shadows.
Lawrence    2. Captain Unfantastic. Ineffective throughout. Poor leader and awful choice for captain. Spent too long rolling about the floor and complaining. The one thing he does not inspire is confidence at any level.
Kazim      5. Not his day. Nothing stuck and looked off the pace. Injury set back will cost us dear I fear.
Stretton   6. Thrown up top alone against 3 CB’s. Made some intelligent runs and cracking instinctive finish for his goal. Needs to work on his first touch but encouraging signs.
Sibley    7. Was the driving force after his introduction. Looked dangerous whenever he ran at players. His foul lead to their first, needs to work hard on that side of his game. Must start Wednesday.

Joz.   1. Entered at 0-1 in 87th minute. Sleeping as his man gently strolled past him to set up the equaliser. Awful cameo from him. Clearly does not want to be a Derby player. If we can recoup our outlay he can go ASAP. Not a championship player but could rip up other less physical leagues.

Rooney and the clowns. 2. Same formation, set up and tactics that have yielded us 8 points from 51 and 1 win in 18. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Whilst I understand we can not afford to sack him but can we not place him and his circus on gardening leave and use Mac and Wassall? I would rather pay Rooney to stay away than continue dragging us down…..
The Derby County Championship farewell tour 21’-22’ is well under way.

Roos - 5 - Probably one of the only goalkeepers I've seen that doesn't look like they like to use their hands. Nearly let one in from 40 yards out which was straight at him. Almost lumped it into Marriott a few times by taking much longer than he needs to on the ball. Almost cost us a goal too. Said it before and I'll say it again. Nowhere near good enough. Our best keeper is 3rd choice.
Byrne - 2 - Woeful. Not sure what's being asked of him. But he was barely at right back. Gives so much space away and balls just get lofted over the top. The defending for that second goal was unforgivable. Poor first game too.
Davies - 6 - Did ok. But got in a massive mess with Bird that led to their first goal. Comedy of errors.
Stearman - 6 - Can't really think of anything he did drastically wrong. But he's part of an experienced back 4 which conceded 2 goals which wouldn't have looked out of place on the park on a Sunday.
Forsyth - 4 - Not sure what he was doing for their first goal. He's nowhere near good enough. 3 cruciate injuries. Great servant. Don't like to criticize too much. Just not good enough anymore.
Shinnie - 5 - First half was poor but thought he improved second half. Him and Bird doesn't work together though. Both slow, both left footed.
Bird - 6 - Thought he broke the play up well. Better than Shinnie today. Still needs to move the ball quicker. But the same can be said for everyone.
Morrison - 6 - Showed some nice touches. Not sure if he's been told to drop deep, which if he has, doesn't make sense. Because clearly his talents are much more suited to a number 10 role.
Lawrence - 3 - Not sure what he's offering. Rooney wants him to score more goals. So not sure why he's dropping so deep to get the ball. Doing the work of Shinnie and Bird. If anything sums him up. It's probably having a shot from 50 yards instead of passing to an open Morrison to let him run at the defender.
Ebosele - 4 - Probably ran at them once and got a foul. They were touch tight to him. Said before. Plays a good game against Salford and everyone jumps on the hype saying he should start. He's got massive potential. But he's not ready yet. He's explosive and I said before would rather have seen him come on against tired full backs.
Kazim-Richards - 4 - The ball didn't stick to him at all today. Not that it would have made any different when the players you want round him (Lawrence and Morrison) are playing holding midfield with our 2 other CDMs. Shame he's injured. But with him being the one player we can't afford to lose, it was inevitable something would happen. It's us.
Sibley - 6 - Came on and got at them. Sick of hearing this Rooney can't trust him lark. He's the only player we have that drives and puts defenders on the back foot. He needs to start for me.
Jozwiak - 0 - Don't normally give anyone a rating who came on in the 87th minute. But he was fast asleep for their goal and didn't look remotely interested either. He probably doesn't want to be here and I can't blame him. If we were in any position to let someone go. I'm pretty sure he'd be gone. He's not a championship player. Can see him going somewhere else abroad and doing well. Still absolutely no idea why he came on in the 87th minute at 1-0 up. Makes no sense.
First half was absolutely dire. We've played against a team who have conceded 7 goals in 2 games. And the way we set up was embarrassing. Slow, laboured, never got at them. There's no attacking threat. I didn't see the goals when they lost in the cup. But the Luton game. All 3 goals were from crosses and we didn't put one in.
Second half was better. Mainly due to the introduction of Sibley. Who got at them. We actually got in positions 2 or 3 times where we could slip someone through but the final ball, as ever, was woeful.
It's not all the managers fault. With the circumstances he's got to work in and I feel for him.
But he has to shoulder some of the blame here. He says he's got a way of playing but I have no idea what it is.
All the issues are still there from last season. Going 1-0 up and going on to lose.
We never get at teams and look to go 1, then 2, then 3 up.
Unless things are sorted quickly. We are absolutely finished.

Just for the record, us half fans get mocked but if it wasn’t for us sitting in our armchairs keeping our charts and spreadsheets going, the Ram’s recent form would not be accurately reported on here. It’s alright standing on the terraces, singing your songs about Collymore and doing that bounce thing, but coming on here claiming no wins in 18 league games, and 1 win in 18 league games, is greatly irresponsible and likely to cause unnecessary concern regarding our current run of form.

Deej reacted to Bris Vegas in Please sack them NOW
The only reason Phillip Cocu abondoned his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and switch to a back three was because we were carrying an overweight, unfit 35-year-old in midfield who was undroppable.
He had to get more defensive players to shore up central areas as we were embarrassingly overrun in that Blackburn game.
Wayne Rooney’s presence and the obligation to play him got Cocu the sack. It was inevitable, playing with virtually 10men every game.
It’s no coincidence that our best performances early last season (at Forest where we should have won and against Cardiff City) came during Rooney’s isolation period.

    (rant warning)
We've got a bad squad but all our best players are attackers, so why are we setting up so defensively when it's obvious our defenders are incapable of keeping a clean sheet? Wouldn't attack be the best form of defence with this team? ...and we have Mac at the club who specialises in attacking football just sitting there (if he even still is). I don't care what anyone says, Jozwiak, Lawrence, Sibley etc are good players, Rooney makes players worse because he doesn't know what he's doing because he's not qualified to be a manager yet. Mac has a history of not only getting the best out of players, but also improving players.
The constant late goals we concede, inability to win after going down etc aren't coincidences, its poor game management and an inability to react when the opposition does. You can't blame the players when it seems to happen no matter which players are playing.
People on here are constantly blaming our attacking players for not picking up players when we concede goals, but why isn't anyone asking why are our attacking players being put in them situations?
As far as I'm aware there isn't any restrictions stopping Mel from sacking Rooney, he's just choosing not to save his money or for some reason he thinks he's doing a good job, or he thinks have Rooney in charge would attract more buyers, but are potential buyers really stupid enough to be more likely to buy a club just because it has someone famous in charge? I don't care that it's his own money, he didn't have to buy the club, if we go down because Mel didn't want to sack Rooney it's unforgivable.
If we do go down, can't we at least go down with our own identity? I'm honestly sick of every time Derby are in the news, all you see is pictures of Rooney and headlines about him, sometimes you barely see anything about the actual club, it's even worse than when Lampard was here. I know that's not his fault but it just adds to the misery.
