Milton Keynes is hardly a surprise either. A new club in a newish city. So no real roots, no loyalty passed between generations of families etc.
Bradford's an odd one because it's close to Leeds. A lot of people who are within the council boundary look east.
Doncaster's small, Notts County is the second Nottingham team (behind Radford FC of course).

Well, what a shitshow that was from us. I don’t know what’s happened to us but we were awful from minute 1 to minute 95. I thought you looked like a side low on confidence but who actually played quite well, you pressed us well and had done your homework to know that’s all you need to do. The personality we showed at the start of the season has disappeared, we’re in real trouble and should have lost by more.
Was impressed with your fans, after Shrewsbury I thought you might have been more negative but the South Stand were positive throughout, lots of supportive chants. You were a bit quiet considering you were 2-0 up, but that’s understandable after recent results. I also thought the ref was excellent.
No bright spots for us City fans I’m afraid, other than Demi Mitchell who will leave in January no doubt. A mini-slump has quickly turned into a relegation battle and none of us can work out why. We’re capable of being much better than last night but you wouldn’t think that. Calling us poor, inept and crap is actually kind, we were worse than that.
Anyway, good luck for the season, hope you go up. Despite singing ‘How s*** must you be, you’re still in league one’ last night, I hope you get promoted, your club is better than this.

It'll be an interesting game tonight, two teams in a shiite run of form. Something's gotta give and hopefully it'll be your defence. There's only around 700 of us travelling tonight which is a shame, I wish we could play you on a Saturday. You've got to trek down to us on a bloody Tuesday in February too. I'm getting ready to start "Paul Warne, your football is shiite" and am hoping you lot join in.
Anyway, looking forward to it. Time to put the snorkel and flippers on and attempt to get to Pride Park. See you later.

This is a very small sample size. 5 of us who go home and away regularly. Never boo, get behind the team, quite good vocal support. Well past our first flush of youth! 😉
We were 4 - 1 in favour of his appointment (me being the 1 against) and stayed that way right through last season.
Pre-season we thought we'd be flying, but the rest of us have become very disillusioned already and I'd say we are less "Warne out" than "it would be a relief if it did happen".
What Warne talks about isn't what we are seeing. His negative mindset, lack of in-game management and ability to react to the opposition frustrates us. I'd say if we were forced into a vote we'd all vote out.
I think @BondJovi's last paragraph for me sums up exactly how we are feeling. There's no growth.
If it is true that Clowes cannot afford to sack him, then I think he needs to sit down and have a serious talk with him about changing his approach to the game. An owner straying into onfield management is dangerous territory as we know to our cost, but what is the alternative at this stage?

    Extenuating circumstances?
Oh come off it. The above applied to Cocu, Rooney, Rosenior. Warne is managing in the best situation since Lampard. Probably even before then.
This is an ideal situation for any manager to build the club the way he wants. Are fans really in the wrong for expecting much better from a supposed promotion expert in this league.
This should be an exciting time for the club and we are on the brink of losing all the goodwill. There are many posters on here whose footballing opinion I greatly respect and I don't see much love for Warne.
Clowes gave the 4 year contract because he believed Warne would grow with the club, that Warne would step up. The only thing I see is a man struggling to handle the situation, the size of club, the pressure the expectation brings. I don't believe he can shake the shackles of being an underdog.

Must admit I never thought I'd see @Ghost of Clough being called a hater, toxic or one of the usual suspects, or someone who doesn't get the art of discussion

Think Max Bird has all three. He's maybe missing some other things that might keep him from reaching the top level: elite-level athleticism, perhaps (which might look like a lack of hard work, but really isn't).

Aye. I've asked before but what does he do?
    What are his attributes?
How do they got in with anything Warne says he wants us to do?
Why was he so keen to bring him in? To prioritise a portion of our budget on a player he doesn't even seem to know how to use?
We / he can't complain about not being able to afford a better striker when we've wasted resources on this turkey

There are some people who seem to have convinced themselves that Warne is a fantastic manager at this level (regardless of any other considerations - club, squad, whatever) and seem to be willing to believe literally anything to avoid having to confront the reality that he really isn't.

Nowt black and white about anything that's happened at Derby in the last 5 years.
I don't think Rooney is a particularly good tactician or coach. But then neither were some of the greatest managers in history. In the right circumstances, he showed himself to be a great leader and gave us pride and hope when we had none.
Somewhat inevitably, given his celebrity profile, he comes with a fair bit of baggage and a circus behind the scenes that has no appeal to me.
Whether he can actually succeed in football management remains to be seen. Personally I think Brum have made a mistake.
I'd rather he didn't sniff around at the likes of Bird and Cashin personally.

Yep. Agree. I though Cocu would be brilliant, and he just wasn't. Maybe his brand of football wasn't suited to the Championship. Maybe it isn't suited to any team that isn't Barcelona, or the equivalent of Barcelona in other leagues (he's not exactly tearing up trees with Vitesse).
Rooney achieved much more with far fewer resources, surrounded by utter chaos and with a huge points deduction hanging over the club. Yet some people still think Cocu was a better manager.
There's more to management than a nice suit and an urbane manner.
Also, I'm not sure about all this 'He was undermined by having to play Rooney'. Rooney wasn't great but he wasn't exactly terrible. When played in midfield he had some good games alongside Bird, and was key to Bird's development. I'm not sure he deserved to start every game on merit but Cocu's problems didn't begin and end with Rooney. He was here a long time. It just didn't work.

Not sure why there is all this love for Cocu. Nice bloke certainly, but we were woeful that year, should have been relegated, and the squad was far better and built under far fewer restrictions than the following year. Other than 2007/08 it was the worst I have seen Derby in 40 years of following them.

Fikayo Tomori - not sure I've ever seen a player get caught so far out of position and get away with it so many times, because he could make up 10 yards on a striker without breaking a sweat.

Maybe it's just me, but if a player plays a bunch of games at League One level, then steps up and plays a bunch of games at Championship level, then steps up and plays a bunch at Prem level, that makes the player a Prem player.  Not a player who's spent most of his career in the lower leagues 🤷‍♂️.

Decent win, could and probably should have been more comfortable with more wasteful finishing on show (I know I say that every week right). Good enough overall, shame the young uns didn’t get more opportunity, wonder if they would have without the penalty incident blotting the copy book. Nice of Bradley to let Didzy out of his pocket at fulltime for a catch up with his former team mates 😉

Special mention to Josh Vickers doing the club and his late wife proud tonight 👏

FYI, the wage bill was £16.4m in 13/14 (12th highest in the league) and £21.8m in 14/15 (9th highest in the league).
In both seasons we outperformed our financial budget. Can Warne say the same?
