Just assuming Rotherham, Birmingham and Coventry maintain their 1 ppg average over the rest of the season, they'll al be around that 46-48 point range after that final game.
That means Sheff Weds would have to win 5 out of their 9 games at the very minimum, 6 wins would be more realistic. I just can't see them beating the drop.
We need 3 wins or 2 wins and 2 draws from 8 games. That doesn't sound too hard to achieve

I just think that people’s concerns were dismissed too quickly.
But the same happened with Cocu and people eventually saw where the supposedly negative posters like myself were coming from.
You’re right - it is in our hands and we do have games that are there to be won and that would ease any nerves.
I am sure if we beat Luton and draw at Reading, I’ll be getting stick again.
But on current form, I am struggling to see where the points are coming from with the exception of 2-3 games.
I just worry whether we have got anything left in the tank, because we have lost our way hugely in recent weeks.
If performances and results are anything to go by in March, the players and the staff seem to have thought the job was done in February and we could coast.
I guess we have two weeks to rediscover that fire.

After you made a point of calling me out for being chief worrier, I have followed your predictions and observations with interest.
In the space of less than four weeks, it has gone from:
’We are safe and we have absolutely nothing to worry about. Nothing can go wrong. This thread will be closed soon.’
    to
’Forest could get sucked in. Look at their March fixtures.’
    to
‘Rotherham play thug football and are the devil’s head lice. They will surely go down.’
    to
‘Birmingham will go down. No, Rotherham. No, Birmingham. No, Rotherham.’
    to
‘OK, it could be any two from eight, even Preston. We need 8 points.’
We are currently on a run of one win in nine, we have chalked up zero wins and just two points and two goals scored in March with an equally tough April to follow.
We have both Huddersfield and Forest above us despite taking four points off them, and now have Coventry, Birmingham and Rotherham all closing in on us.
I wouldn’t usually go out of my way to make such a point, but perhaps now you can see why I was worried and that the concerns of myself and many others were actually valid?

Most people quote 50 points and you will be safe. In the last 6 seasons barring 2016/17 season there as been teams getting less than 50 points and avoiding relegation. I think there is a lot of poor teams in the Championship this season and I think 48 points will see your team avoid the bottom 3 positions. Based on that, Derby need to find 8 points (2 wins and 2 draws). You could be right about the Birmingham match being a big game for both teams. I hope this International break will be in our favour and we can get 3 pts against Luton to take the pressure off.

Helps when Rotherham have had two weeks off. I’ll look forward to seeing how they do when they get 2 days off between games.

The thing is though he didn't, he just didn't. It might only look like small changes but today a half fit CKR was shoved out wide and Sibley was pushed right up front, neither of which was the case second half against Brentford in the second half (where we also had Gregory given an extra target). We were also playing against a side with a very different philosophy defensively with extra bodies in the back as well. Against Brentford we started getting a bit of joy because we could overload the central areas in and around the box and physically CKR and Gregory could occupy and create space against the Brentford. Today wasn't the case and we weren't set up in anyway that could be classed as coherent.
If we go down Rooney should absolutely take a big old share of the blame for it.

We seem to be supported by a bunch of manic depressives.
Maybe it’s because I’m old enough to have watched us in Div 3 that the drop holds no worries. We’ll come back soon enough and stronger. It’s quite a cathartic experience, for club, players and fans. Phoenix from the flames and all that.
But we won’t go down this season. Without a change in ownership then we may well do next year.

2 points from a possible 18 in March. 1 win in 9 now too.
Some of us did say the run in would be tough.
I am looking at Luton, Birmingham and Wednesday at home. I think much if not all of it will boil down to those games.
Honestly if we can’t win those games and stay up, then we will totally deserve League 1 football.

Oh it should, whether we can get them is a different kettle of fish.
We are bereft of confidence and leadership. The manager changes the formation every week and the players seem reluctant to play quick, attacking football that catches the opposition out of position.

If we continue the form of the last 5 games we are in real trouble. Fans are hoping Brum will go down. However they still have their Ace to play which is a new manager. If we drop back into the bottom 3 we could ask Wassell again to step up.

I dont think people on here realize how dire we are at the moment we have only scored 9 goals all season from open play and scored 1 goal in our last five games.
If Rotherham keep up there points gained record as it stands they have played 32 and got 32 points so they will end up with 46 points this would mean we would at least have to find 8 points from somewhere as there goal difference a quite a lot better than ours at present, this is assuming Rotherham do not have a slight upturn in form because if they do we are in serious poo
Looking at our final games i have us with a point each against Stoke,Blackburn,PNE and 3 points against Luton and Birmingham giving us 9 points with one game left to play against SW at home which could end up being the game that seals our fate
I have zero confidence in the team at present and even the points i think we should get is no given as i think most people thought we would get 3 points yesterday

Not for the first time, I'm with @angieram on this one.
I've supported Derby for over 40 frustrating years, sometimes up, mostly down, and recently I've found myself pondering on what it actually means to support the club.  After all, there is almost no link between the Derby of the late '70s and that of today - not the players, manager, owners; not even the ground.  Perhaps the kit, if you squint in a low light...
I think it was Rowett's preposterous sale of Will Hughes that really crystallised it for me - it's through the development of the club's young players that I most identify with the club.  I really enjoy watching young football players develop; like the vicarious thrill of hearing fans of other teams talk about "that young Derby player" they've seen; even more so when, like Buchanan this season, they show it on a bigger stage.
That's why, after yesterday's disappointment, I found myself looking at other results - Will Hughes at Watford, obviously, but also Jack Stretton at Stockport, Farrend Rawson (& Nigel Clough) at Mansfield, Charles Vernam at Bradford, wondering where JH-I is at Stevenage....  These players (and manager) are always "Derby" to me.
And so, after Rooney's ill-advised public comments about Louie Sibley yesterday, I no longer care whether Rooney goes or stays.  For me, Derby County isn't about Wayne Rooney, it's about Louie Sibley, Max Bird, Lee Buchanan and the others.   Keep going, boys.

He does dive into challenges, and he is over eager. But you know what? He actually has attacking instincts, he wants to go forward. He wants to score goals. That is *exactly* the kind of player we need in the team right now. I don't care if he isn't perfectly disciplined defensively.

Sibley scored a hat trick v Millwall 9 month ago. It was declared that he was the player money couldn’t buy. Mel had searched Europe for a manager that would be great for the young players. Rosenior was the telly pundit that was the expert that had the knowledge of the championship. I’m sorry to say the management team has not been good for our young players especially Sibley.

Bird/Knight/Sibley could have 30+ games under their belts this season as a midfield 3, well on their way to becoming the most exciting partnership in the league. Watson coming through.
In that parallel universe would we have done any worse than we've done this season?
Instead we've got Knight being played all over the pitch and out of form, Bird and Sibley rotting on the bench.
We should do the decent thing and sell all three of them cheap to a club that knows how to use them.
