I loved that today. First 20 mins were poor but we improved and then the subs / change of formation really changed the game. I thought McGoldrick was excellent and so good to have Knight’s energy in midfield, he made loads of forward runs. And hats off to Wildsmith, I’m starting to really like him.
The view from behind the dugouts was great, I’ll definitely try to get that seat again if I’m on my own. All in all a very nice way to spend my birthday.

Lovely stuff reading back through a matchday thread when we were losing, but ended up winning. The impatience of people is laughable at times.
Thank god we won. It's saved us from an international break of whining.
 

Not often you see a tactical change yield such resounding and immediate benefits. The switch to a back three and a more active midfield was quite literally transformational asnf I think Liam has answered his critics in the best way possible. I'm 'absolutely delighted' for him and I'm sure all those who have spent the week slating him, will now give credit where it's due. Don't worry,  
Not one but 3 standouts today, Barks is a serious player and seems to be settling in really well. Hourihane is a maverick with a magic left peg, pure class today. But for me, the MOTM goes to an unheralded and unsung hero. Joe Wildsmith, take a bow son. That was a performance of which Mart Poom would have been proud.

Max Bird has been poor this season. The Hourihane arrival hasn’t helped.
Both are far too similar. But Hourihane is a bigger goal threat and has been taking all the set-pieces presumably because he is better at them.
It means Bird’s role has diminished. He has been made captain, but he hasn’t actually contributed anything. 
When Smith came on against Posh we immediately looked far more threatening as he started playing the ball forward.
I think I can count on one had the amount of telling forward passes Bird has made per game, while he and Hourihane have been lightweight defensively and often outworked in midfield.

Last league game for a fortnight.
Come on you rams - get buying those tickets and remember how lucky we are to be able to see our team play live!
Just because it was c@@p on Tuesday doesn’t mean we won’t bounce back in style tomorrow ??⚽️

I'd like us to try something like this would definitely like to see Jake Rooney given a go and think Cashin could do with a break and gives us a chance to check out Chester. I'm not a fan of two holding midfielders .
 
 

I got so excited starting a thread I forgot to say why. I achieve one of my bucket list objectives on Saturday, being part of a hospitality package - 71 seasons after I first went to BBG. Haven’t always been able to attend regularly but have remained a half or quarter fan and followed us faithfully.
My youngest was 50 this year and a well off friend bought him a hospitality package - so, as well as a meal, we get to sit in the director’s box. So, he’s now able to do as he promised and he doesn’t even have to pay for it!
I’m so excited and it’s taken me so long to type this, someone has probably got in before me to start the thread.
P.S. I hope the food’s better than last night’s football  ?

A big problem now is that this playing style and its lack of results especially away from home is obviously not working- at what point does Liam think it will? How long will he keep saying results will come - we hear endless managers say this on the slide down a table.
He needs to be more flexible - we are not Man City , in-fact very few teams are playing this over possession football now as it doesn't work against teams that are at your level- the oppo just wait for your slow build up, get in position, take you man for man.  He can train them for months , but all i see is their own decision making, creativity and flexibility in game being killed off for the sake of paint by numbers training ground football.
When it does work like last nights goal, quick fluid direct passing we do it twice then stop doing what worked , almost as if they have to go back to Liam's sideways, slow, and sadly boring rulebook
We all Like Liam but he needs help and advice from someone who knows what it takes to be successful in League 1 
I've been following us for 40 years but this playing style is becoming difficult to watch - id rather us be direct , win some easily and then other weeks get beat - c'mon Liam, have a look what the successful teams are doing in this league

People forget that we’ve been absolutely awful playing away for 3 years playing this style of football - nothing will change until we stop playing this style of football in away matches.

it’s very simple really, the manager needs to change the style of football, or we need to change the manager,,,,,,, it’s that simple !!!!

Yes. This set up does not get the best out of two key players - Bird and Knight. That’s a big price to pay

You were there, I wasn't so I'll take your view with honesty.
The whole point of playing out from the back is as you say...create space and drive forward, Teams have watched us and see how a simple tactic is to press our players and close us down, Let us have the ball and defend, When the opposition score 1st it's as easy as 1-2-3, We push on and they use the space we leave behind.
Offside and Penalties are one persons view of the play, Plymouth we seemed to be unfortunate with their 2nd, Again last night 2 close calls, As for the Penalty some will some want give it, Being Derby County could be having a negative approach where officials are concerned...but these officials are what they are...pretty poor imo? 

8 games in, 2 months ago had 5 players, can’t pay transfer fees therefore relying on over 30s and kids some of whom might be future higher level players but have never played senior football because we can’t spend loan fees. Playing against teams at the top who are established, having been through a degree of pain to get there. 
 
Im hoping the negativity is driven by the heat of the moment after two back to back bad performances and people will be more rational in the morning. The level of transition and upheaval has been massive we were never going to be walking the league destroying teams at this stage.
If we’re here in another month after another bunch of bad results and performances I might change my view. I’m prepared to give it more time with Liam that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be held to account but it’s easy to put the blame entirely at his door, some players have been poor these couple of games. Bird in particular, can blame tactics or say to Max if you’re going to be a marked man you have to find a way to cope with it, that’s what you need to do if you’re going to play at a much higher level which most think he can. 
 
This is not the time to rip up everything and get a dinosaur (an experienced head) in. The teams leading the way currently in league one are managed by young progressive coaches who have been given time to mould their teams!! Well guess what we have a young progressive coach who hasn’t been given time (do not say he’s been here 3 years the squad is TOTALLY different) 

It does seem that they just took Cocu's template and traced it in crayon.  Maybe try something different after 3 and half years.

This simply isn’t good enough, management is ineffective! 
I’ve seen enough this season now to call this one. A real Manager is required ASAP, Liam isn’t up to it

I always thought that he was at fault for all those away defeats under Rooney. 
Then I thought he was the best thing since Sliced Bread this season until we lost one game at home and now I think he's out of his depth.
