I guess a number of other clubs have gone down this route and are now playing Premier League football.
Derby haven't hit league 1 yet. When you're in the Championship you're never far from that big payday. I bet Barnsley didn't see this season coming.
    You just never know.

No, just some basic human decency and a balanced view / understanding of how we've ended up in this position rather than finger pointing outraged nonsense. Apparently that's too much to expect from some people.

The premier league spends billions with abandon yet the leagues aspiring to join this ‘elite’ are kept in their place, ensuring a gulf in quality exists between the two.

It’s not Football Fair Play. It’s cronyism protecting the top teams.

I may be misunderstanding but i have always had the feeling if it wasnt for the restraints of FFP/P&s Mel would continue to fund and actively still be trying to secure promotion.
Its the shackles the EFL have implemented in an attempt to protect clubs that are actually causing damage, and potentially putting clubs at risk, not because owners dont have the funds, but because they wont let the owners spend it.
Do the EFL actually want clubs to go out of business? It actually seems that way with the rules they have in place. They are very poor custodians of the football league and really need to take a step back and decide what it is they are trying to do.
When it comes down to appealing over the way something is written on paper then for me it shows they do no have the best interests of the game in mind.

    In all seriousness, I'd agree.
It was an art in itself to steer clear of trouble from oppo and police! Colours always hidden until inside the ground.  Different world to today... thankfully!
Witnessed (and was on the periphery) of all sorts of scrapes and scuffles, particularly as I went to many (virtually all) away games from 77 to 81.
Being on "independent transport", as opposed to official club coaches, undoubtedly didn't help.  There was always a pub stop or two on our travels too.
Don't get me wrong, I was gobby (in a sing song sort of way) but certainly no fighter.    Probably done the equivalent of a fair few marathons over that period.  Always chased, and never the chaser, mind!  ?
If truth be told, I probably did well to stay out of the cells for so long!  ...And hospitals, for that matter!  ?

You can't explain to people nowadays how that walk was from the ground to the station (rail in my case). It really was another world.

This is an extract from the last club statement after we survived.
But whilst this season has undoubtedly been a difficult one, there is a steely determination and burning desire from everyone at the club to restore that vital connection with its supporters, and to collectively take the Rams forward with a renewed sense of resilience and togetherness.
This is all we have to go on. The rest is media speculation including wether or not Alonso has gone (hope he has). Aside from the appeal everything we think we know from the last week has not been confirmed by any source.
I’ll wait til I know something concrete because quite honestly I’ve had my fill of the media making up worst case scenario’s all the time.

Hang in there buddy. Things are bad at the moment but, believe me, they have been worse before.
We'll get through it. Derby County will get through it. There will always be a club. And the great thing about football, or sport in general, is that there's always next season.

I think it's common knowledge that he's been ill. I think he's said it publicly himself. I'm sure that has a lot to do with his reasons for wanting to sell up. I hope people can show a bit more respect.
We've all made mistakes. Mel is getting slammed for financially backing his managers. For me, his mistakes were his appointments. But none of it was intended to damage the club, only to chase the dream.

I bought shares in the early 80’s to help the club and get the agm as well ( think they became worthless when the Co-op pulled the plug but can’t remember ). I was also heavily involved in a fans group that formed to help try to get rid of Maxwell and all the infighting in the board up and including the early days of Lionels ownership until he booted a board member out.
Had dealings and meetings with certain board members whilst we were useful to them  it was all good then patronised and patted on the head and told to trot along when no longer needed.
Also as said a few folks were fighting on who should be fan representatives and who shouldn’t.
So unless things have changed I a rather jaundiced view of how fans on football clubs boards work.

I’m no Mel apologist, I think the writing has been on the wall for a long time. Or atleast from summer through to Cocu’s departure.
But...I don’t know whether this article quite passes a good journalism test and I’m highly sceptical where they get their information from. You have to consider that someone wants that information out there. This isn’t ‘Derby is in a mess, and we’ve seen the figures to back this up’ it comes across a second hand info. It’s more speculative than investigative.
The club is in a dreadful state, and what’s actually been going on is slowly coming to light, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna lap up every article out there that agrees with that viewpoint without question

Would never support another club. Would either watch the reincarnation of the Rams or dip in and out of local clubs like Mickleover Sports and Matlock Town that I have an affinity with.
Might pop to the odd local game with my mate who follows a couple of clubs.
I would cancel Sky Sports during the football season as have no interest in other Prem or FL clubs

It would be alright for a few years until we’re stable then fans would soon get fed up of us being mid table championship fodda losing all our best young players to the likes of Sheffield United. Gone are the days where this kind of thing will work in the championship and above you need too much money to compete.
We’re a very attractive club to buy regardless of all this going on, if the likes of Wigan are finding wealthy buyers we’ll be absolutely fine. Better facilities, bigger fan base, tons of potential, no panic needed the right buyer WILL come!

Just to be clear here, your gripe is that MM has told us the situation via the national media rather than the local media?
As for distancing themselves from the fans, when and where exactly were you expecting them to engage the fans? You are aware of the pandemic aren't you?

The only problem I foresee as on this site so many “fans / supporters/ members “ have differing opinions on the running of the club. Can see getting a consensus very difficult.
Might have to do a bit more research in how the German clubs do it and how the less successful ones deal with the grumblings of fans

No way we owe PC and co 8 mill , thought the loan was 17.5 mill even on the Fail figures ?
If the stadium has a valuation of 80 mill and the turnover with fans in the ground a very attractive proposition. DCFC have only ever leased the training ground however the mere fact that we have one that a new owner doesn’t have to build again is another plus .

I don't imagine for one minute things have changed. I always think back to student union days, hardly anyone ever wanted to run it but we all moaned when they booked crap bands for the Union bar! ?
