America's already put together a multi billion dollar package to reduce its carbon emissions and get it closer to the Paris agreement on emission standards so to say they won't isn't quite right. The big problems are China and emerging economies (I'd no longer put Russia in that bracket tbh) and how they manage to motivate growth whilst simultaneously reducing emissions. I'm not entirely sure how we can keep those things moving simultaneously, especially when changing our model of growth is an extremely costly thing to do.

But you're not wrong in the fact that us alone changing how we create and use energy is not going to solve the problem that does stand before us. What we don't know is how we will manage the future, we can't contemplate technological breakthroughs in the next 50-100 years. To pretend we can in the way XR does is a mark of extreme arrogance, if you asked anyone in 1900 what 2000 would look like they'd all be remarkably incorrect. Does this mean we do nothing? no, but does it also mean the end is nigh? also no.

I'm not overly concerned. Against Oxford, the second half was much better than the first. The last two games we've seen them struggle slightly but A) it's a brand new squad finding their groove B) it's very very hot atm so it's no surprise we're slowing down slightly in the second half.

    Forest- for the obvious reasons.
Leeds- fans are pathetic and scummy for the most part. Still remember when they beat us 1-4 under Lampard giving it large, banging on the windows of buses and acting like t****. Made it all the sweeter when we did them in the play offs.

Sheffield Wednesday- such an odd fan-base tbh. Over protective of 'the bounce' acting like we'd committed an act of plagiarism when we started doing it. Yes their away support is great but at home they're no great shakes unless it's a really big game.  Still think they're much bigger than they are.

Birmingham- for exactly the same reasons as others have stated.

Then I'd group together the 'big' north east clubs e.g. newcastle, sunderland and boro. There needs to be another word for them as it goes beyond delusional. The attitude they present is not new either, still remember a clip of a bloke lecturing brian clough on how the north east is more passionate than anywhere else for football in the country.

It was an emotional day and a brilliant atmosphere for the first fifteen minutes as we penned Oxford in their own half. Then they began to take control which inevitably began to quieten us down and build up their confidence. They looked useful at times in possession but generally defensively we seemed to manage it. I thought we did lack organisation at points, and looked vulnerable when they could get near the box with some last ditch blocks and tackles saving us from peril. The first 10 minutes of the first half started off the same except they looked even more dangerous. Then Sibley came on and changed the game. His pace and endeavour brought their defence out, allowed us to hit Collins more and make use of the space. Their pressing died down latterly as they lost energy which then gave us more time to hit the flanks, MZL looks pacey, direct and dangerous but he could have scored 2 and set up 1 yesterday...

We deserved to win on the second half and as soon as a couple of those challenges began flying in our crowd got its back ups and reasserted our domination off the pitch as well as on it. All in all, considering how little time this team has had and the fact Oxford are top 6 material, I'm much less nervous than I was before. If we can speed up our tempo and have an extra runner in midfield we could tear up this league at home at least. I'm now expecting top 6 after that tbh.

it's a fantastic effort. I got mine at 12:15 last night for me and my mum. Straight after, I'll be off to a wedding reception but convinced my gf as it's such a big day for the club to give me leave to go. Whatever happens today it'll be such an emotional care free day. Today is the day we officially have our club back; we can go to pride park not to march for its survival, not to chant our vitriol at the governing bodies and our former owner who almost put us in the ground and not to hope beyond hope for a miracle of survival, but rather to chant with  pride for a club on an even keel with everyone else. Obviously it would have been nice to have kept him but if he wants to go to the world cup it's clear he can't be with us this season. The big chunk off the wage bill alone is sufficient to perhaps bolster our numbers in key areas. Ultimately as others have said, we need to maintain the same spirit on and off the field we had last season, so if someone is stewing in the background then ultimately it is necessary to ship them out

Realistically something had to be done following last season where a number of incidents not just at pride park but across the country. I understand why people want to use pyrotechnics to add an extra spice, but they are a fire hazard as well as being bad for asthma sufferers. On the pitch invasions we did have a few last year, so a clampdown is in order but I don't think they'll be dolling out bans for a mass invasion on the last day of the season.
