Like some kind of naive young man going back into the dating pool after being dumped, I'm really excited for tomorrow and ready to get hurt all over again. Hopefully, this week we'll turn up on the pitch and see it replicated in the stands. COYR!!!

I didn't say we need to sack him Jimbo and nowhere have I said or even suggested that. However, I do find this patch of form very worrying. We're shipping goals left and right, don't seem to really have much of a plan once we go behind and our style of play has dissolved into getting the ball into wide areas and lumping it in. Our record against the top half should be a big concern to all of us. It indicates that if a half-decent team sets their stall out, then we really struggle to beat them. I don't think this is purely a matter of squad depth but a bigger issue around tactics and style of play that we suffer from.

In that season, we had a strong performance arc that made us feel invincible. This season was similar, if you asked 2 months ago how ppl felt about automatics, it was not how you describe it. A lot of us felt as if we had a solid chance at it. There has been a dropoff in the past 9 games, and the performances have been poorer, and so have the results. In our more recent games (before 2 months ago), we do not look like the team we were. Perhaps this will change, but currently, we look like a shadow of our former selves. This is precisely why I invoked 14-15 because we looked unstoppable until we didn't.
I'm not sure what is wrong with pointing this drop off out or saying losing to Fleetwood at home in such a manner is disgraceful to a club like ours. It's not tolerable, it's not good enough and the sooner it is resolved the better.

Currently, it's non-existent tbh. I really can't work out what it is that we're supposed to be doing either defensively, in transition or going forward. It's really not good enough

Absolutely disgraceful from start to finish. No guts, no drive, no willingness to track, no shape, absolute fu**ing nothing. I don't know what Warne is doing on the training ground but our 'tactics' seem to consist of hitting it in the direction of collins and hoping he can produce something out of nothing. The shape was non-existent and a big gap between defence and midfield meant it was so easy for Fleetwood to poke holes in us. Do they do any opposition research? The quickness of the opposition meant that it was not a game to have a defence which had all the pace of a one-legged pensioner.

On the goals they were too easy. The first goal was great but why on earth was no-one within 5 yards of him... just too easy for him to volley it. The second, well the less said about cashin, forsyth, and wildsmith the better. The three of them should have been pulled off there and then for that shambolic sequence of events. All of them should be fined a week's wages for that alone and that's before we get into everything else.

Warne needs to start having a look at himself. Whilst the players lacked effort, drive, and determination today they also crucially lacked anything resembling a game plan. Warne has seemingly got us going backwards towards a bizarre series of 'hit and hope' forward balls with no runners and a back line that has gone from not looking like it could concede to looking like it can't stop conceding. Cashin doesn't learn- getting too tight and then we've got no-one to cover, Forysth running through treacle and lacking any bite and then we've got Wildsmith who has gone from scott carson to andy oakes in the past 2 months. He alone has been partially at fault for at least 5 of the goals we've conceded in the last 6 games.

Personally, I hope we drop out of the playoffs now as we're not going to win them and could even end up embarrassing ourselves. I'd say we need a clear out in the summer and we need to seriously consider Warne's position as this type of result has been coming.

Our record against the top-half sides is really poor and our performances are getting worse rather than better. Does anyone really think we will beat either Barnsley, Plymouth, or Ipswich or Bolton? This has all the hallmarks of 2014-2015 at the moment. Losing 4-1 at Barnsley, screwing up a 2-0 lead at home to Shrewsbury, losing 2-0 at home today against Fleetwood this performance is not a 'one off' but an increasingly common occurrence under Warne.

In fairness, I've been to Hillsborough a fair few times and never had an issue. That's been when we've taken big crowds as well as smaller ones. Don't see it as any more dangerous than any other older stadium (Barnsley, Luton, Sheffield United etc.) and they have all been as dangerous or worse than Hillsborough tbh. I don't buy the idea for a minute they're not making improvements because they want to make fans uncomfortable, it's one thing to cut down allocations or not have the greatest amenities but quite another to potentially put fans at risk.
I do think the older stadiums and fan culture puts a significant strain on the argument for safe standing. Some fans and a large enough percentage to make a difference, just cannot be trusted to behave. Stewarding needs to be improved upon, if idiots aren't willing to stand or sit in their allotted space, they should be thrown out. This requires more stewards to implement said changes. But I think after a few times it would restore order generally, from what I've experienced on trains the moment the cops actually do something they all wet themselves and shut up.

I also think there needs to be a review of all older stadia and discuss their feasibility moving forward. If clubs can't afford to make the necessary adjustments, then plans should be made by the FA and government to subsidise the changes. Plenty of lower league stadiums, when full to capacity, are a bit of an accident waiting to happen- look at Lincoln, Peterborough (before the seating), Barnsley etc.

haha it's been a wild ride just on the last page. My two pence is that the refugee convention and the 67 protocol were not designed, so people fleeing had an a la carte option of where they wanted to go. The universality of the 67 protocol was put in place so countries couldn't sneakily get rid of refugees to other countries who'd then send them back. I believe the first safe state principle was articulated in the Dublin agreement, which remains sensible but has since 2015 come under increasing pressure. From memory, I also thought both the 51 and 67 protocols also restricted refugee status from those who did try to select their country of 'safe origin' by crossing borders, but a brief re-read of the 51 convention has made me think my memory was faulty (it has been about 8 years since I've read these docs for my human rights seminars).
Ultimately our judicial and political systems are unwilling to really grapple with the issue. It's an absolute mess that we've helped create, by eliminating easy and safe ways to claim asylum this is why we've got the boat problem. This is not to say that all those in calais are legitimate refugees, they are not, but we have made it incredibly difficult for refugees to seek asylum here. Ideally, we should be clamping down on the boats, but we also need to quickly open asylum application centres in France. We should also be encouraging people to seek asylum in France whilst relaxing our FOM restrictions as well.

Linekar's an idiot who has made stupid comments in the past. But being an idiot, even an idiot in public, does not warrant a suspension from hosting football programmes. In fact, I'd be more surprised if Gary did come out with a complex legal and philosophical analysis of refugees than a ham-fisted 'we're becoming nazis' tweetsode. I'm just more surprised why anyone is in the slightest bit bothered or interested in what he said.

I'm not even sure we needed to do that.  The big problem was the gaping hole in front of our back 4 - every time they broke on us, they were running straight at our defence.  Warne seems to want all his midfielders to play like box-to-box midfielders, running forwards to press or support, then running back to defend.  That's just about okay when everyone's fit and understands their role, but when your team is tired or not used to it, it's a recipe for getting caught out when they all run forwards and nobody runs back.  White (or any of the midfielders really) just needed to go and stand in front of the back 4 and stay there.  Then he can spot attacks early and get in place to deal with it, and when we get the ball back, offer a simple pass so we're not hoofing it to nobody all the time.
