Collins was superb - put a real shift in. Bird and Hourihane much better. I’m glad my criticism spurred them on!

Probably because Derby County are cheats. We did all of those things that people on Twitter said without checking facts so yeah, cheats, still getting away with it now probably and everything.

Not really. Bird once again managed to avoid the ball and went through 97 minutes without putting a tackle in. Hourihane took a nice free kick and that was it. Another player who bottled 50/50s. His corners were yet again crap as well. We had looked far better with Sibley taking them. We might not be playing a style of football that suits either of them but if you are playing centre midfield and don’t have any effect on the game then that is clearly going to be a problem. Shinnie in midfield would be a huge improvement. I can’t imagine him going through a game with, what was it at Ipswich, 19 touches of the ball that Bird had? I guess I am finding the performances of both of them hugely frustrating and have been all season.

With regards to the original question, I am more concerned that Paul Warne is the next Paul Jewell let alone Nigel Pearson.

Intercepting the ball isn’t a tackle, that’s an interception and reading the game. You can stay on your feet and tackle, of course you can, but I honestly can’t recall him doing that last night. I can’t recall him doing anything if I’m honest, which is kind of the problem. I guess I am crying out for a George Williams. He and Gregory never let games pass them by like Hourihane and Bird do and they certainly let the opposition know that they had been in a game. Bird is also not a captain. I saw Fozzy and Smith last night acting like captains but not Bird. Maybe the pressure is too great for him, I honestly don’t know what has happened to him this season.

Bird and Hourihane has to be as poor a midfield as you can get in this division. Both of them appear scared of putting a tackle in - an absolute dream to play against. The decline of Bird this season is mystifying. He has gone from controlling games to complete anonymity. Hourihane is stealing a living but at least he’s capable of banging one in from 25 yards.
I think the manager is going to become increasingly under pressure with his one tactic of kicking the ball long and hoping the centre half makes a mistake. I’m very concerned with what I am seeing. I thought we were pretty average under Rosenior and thought he was over complicating things, but at least I could see what he was trying to do and was hopeful he could amend it, change and tweak a bit. Appointing Warne seems to have put a great deal of pressure on the club that simply wasn’t there before. He wasn’t part of last season and as a result doesn’t have the good will that Rosenior had. I really think he needs to stop being a David Brent impersonator and start working out a way of getting the most from the players he does have, in my humble opinion.

Maybe Warne will play him centre half on Saturday so we can see how poor he is. The decision to put him at left back was baffling in the extreme.
I’m no football expert but Sibley is at his best running at people and getting in the box. He’s one of our few goal threats. At least he can get his corners past the first defender as well unlike our ‘cheat code’ who once again   managed to achieve nothing whatsoever whilst avoiding putting a tackle on at all costs.

I have been watching Louise Sibley play for 4 years or so now. At no point whatsoever did I think, “you know what, he’d make a really good left back”. Completely baffling decision. He could have made a like for like swap with Stearman but instead moved 4 players around. On reflection however I have decided that the fault for our current predicament lies squarely at the door of Byrne and Buchanan. Tossers.
