Great read and great insight into the behind the scenes activities going on under Jim Smith's reign and how Derby were at the forefront of new technology and coaching methods. Like Pride it's a book that I can relate to from the very first page having witnessed the playing side at least. Some great memories relived and some not so great brought back but within all that is the warmth and affection Jim was held in by all that contributed.
Just buy it.

As regards to 'value for money', I think that it's been proven many times that the revenue gained for the country far outweighs the costs of the Royal Family as a whole. True, it doesn't apply to all Royals and I believe that the new Monarch will address this. A large majority of the visitors to this country, come,  because of the  Royal Family, well it can't be for the weather. There are also many good causes taken up by ordinary folk who are rewarded by visits and rewards from the Royals, these are highlights of their lives for their good works, as my next door neighbour would testify. Would a person running a charity for many years cherish a meeting with a politician, for the rest of their lives?
Our Royal Family is part of the fabric of our country and makes it what it is, you only have to see how the world has reacted to our loss, to realise how important our Royal Family is globally.

Why should we mourn David Bowie? George Michael? Heath Ledger? We don't know them. Why are they so special? 
I'm not into the world of celebrity but famous people influence all our lives. Whether it's fond memories watching The Royal family or out with your mates at concerts or a song that defines a period of your life or that actor that brings back  fond memories. Famous people who we don't know have an effect on us. How many people have been brought together by David Bowie's music? 
In the case of Elizabeth II she's symbolic of this country. The Queen, The Palace, fish and chips, bad weather, a cuppa tea, the Union Jack... The things that we embrace, that make our culture, heritage etc etc. You don't get much more symbolic that the Queen!! 
It seems there's so many people that need to tell us how unbothered we should be. Why?
An apparent nice old lady dies and people are like "what did she do for me?". She's part of your culture? Your history? The story of your land? 
Give it a week and then some gang member will stab another gang member in Notts and they'll all be back online pouring out the "what a tragic waste of precious life. He would have gone on to play football for England" 
The Queen dies and the gobshite minority like Trevor Sinclair need to tell you how not bothered they are. 

Quite poignant to think all 4 in that picture have now gone!

They'll be changing the name of a well known pantomine next and gone will be the classic phrase - "it's nearly midnight and still no sign of dick"

Guy next to me left just before half time as he was going to a family BBQ, I should have reported him to the nearest steward but didn't think about it, ridiculous behaviour. Might still report him to the club and get his season ticket revoked.

I heard that as the goal was scored in injury time Boro intend to sue Barnsley for £8m in lost earnings becuase had Barnsly not pretended to be injured, there wouldn't have been the injury time to score in and had Boro progressed to the 2nd round of the league cup they would have probably won the EFL cup and Boro estimate the value of that to be £8m.
But Steve Gibson is a fair man, he'll settle for a lot less than that.
