If I was Mel I would have the accounts submissions double and treble checked by a senior partner of one of the big accountancy firms, we do not want a professor from the university of wallaballoo being wheeled out by the EFL to trash our accounts, sorry Mr Pearce but we need to ensure every figure and word treble checked.
You can bet your bottom dollar the EFL will be having a panel of “experts” poring over them.

Gibbo and the EFL - the tail wagging the dog. 
That little twerp had better be squeaky clean because if I were the EFL I’d want to be assured that he practices what he preaches. 
He needs to concentrate on his own business which is running a small football club with very few fans, limited history, located in the arse end of nowhere and with a pensioner as a manager. 

A list should be compiled. Or two lists if we use EFL protocol.

Why don’t they concentrate on their own football club? Bristol is predominately a Rugby City, with the two football clubs on a par with Torquay Utd, support wise.

After all this horrendously protracted affair, the only misdeed which the club has been found guilty of so far is failing to "exercise due care" in relation to an important obligation", the amortisation of players.
The panel found the use of a different (otherwise well-used ) system was a breach of League rules and had not been clearly set out enough in the accounts. However, it thought that it had not been proved that the club gained an advantage over other clubs or allowed the club to spend more money on players than permissible. Therefore, no sporting sanction was applicable for the breach.
Now we wait for the re-worked accounts. If they prove (if.....!) to be within the limits, then a lot of people will have egg on their faces and owe an apology to the club and its owner.

McCleary does highlight another important point.
He does point to another bodged, vindictive, decision by the EFL (including rushing out a statement at midnight, and raising the prospect of the Rams/Wycombe interchanging leagues) when a) at the time the appeals committee hadn’t completed and filed their report, and b) they hadn’t clearly sought their own legal opinion at the time that an appeal was of any merit. They clearly are not fit for purpose  / bankers (*delete as appropriate).
