The club is ultimately worth what anyone is willing to pay for it. But my guess is the club cannot be worth that much in its current state, unless something changes quick we'll be a league one club next season and that may require significant investment to get us out of that hole and back into the championship. If you combine that with less revenue, a dysfunctional relationship with the EFL and a fan base that's shrinking by the game it's not necessarily looking great for an investment.

The assets are the stadium, the training facilities and an academy that has a solid recent record of selling players on but to retain it that also will require investment. If someone does buy us they'll be buying us at a very low period for the club, arguably it's the lowest point we've witnessed in almost 2 decades. This does give new owners the opportunity to inject a sense of renewal in the club that could activate a passionate fanbase that has the potential to grow significantly in numbers. But my gut tells me, if Mel is hoping to get 50-100 million for us now  he's living in cloud cuckoo land. He's going to have to accept he's lost a lot of money that he's not going to recoup and have to make do with a few million from the sale.

The stadium is not an asset of the club, that belongs to MM doesn't it? All people would really be buying is the DCFC brand name.

I would think the Frank Lampard tenure was the turning point that ended up up putting us where we are.

He was always going to manage Chelsea, but no way could they employ a complete rookie. So some high level fixers hawked him around a few clubs to get him a “leg up”, and is how we were able to get the three loan players who made our team, and left it completely characterless when they moved on.

I don’t blame Mel going for it, but he was stitched up thinking he had 2 or 3 years of Frank. The whole thing was to make Frank look good, and it worked.

Sat at Wembley looking at the starting team told any fans with any nous that Chelsea were getting their man. They might as well have put “Bye. Been nice knowing you. Love from Frank” on the screens.

And if you’re not convinced, watch the video of Frank after he had “briefly” consoled the players. He wandered around circling the melee of players with a look on his face that said no matter much of a Chelsea hero he might be he wouldn’t get this sort on interaction with the fans again.

And then there was the summer of “Will he or won’t he”. Not “go”, but actually tell us he is leaving so we have got a chance to sort our next season out.

His keeping us dangling wrecked our preparations, and therefore our entire season, from which we never recovered.

Being subsequently forced to play Rooney when he was nearly as past it as me didn’t help, but the whole Lampard episode did huge damage. Mel’s only mistake was being used as the “Patsie”.

When Frank arrived he created the impression of being a man of integrity. Now I don’t which of his two faces I dislike the most.

Question: when he arrived, what state were we in financially?

If Ipswich Town had been in a better financial position we wouldn't have got Lampard, he was all set to become their manager until he realised the state the finances were and then walked away.

We encouraged him to do so

Really, do you think owners listen to fans on who to buy, that is something that is brought to a conclusion between the manager, the recruitment team and the owner. MM chose to spend money of his own accord, he wasn't forced to spend it.

One has to ask why Mel bought the club 6 years ago in the first place.
I’m absolutely amazed that a so called “business man” couldn’t see that if the gamble to get promotion failed, then he’d lose money.
He can’t be surprised by it.
It needed to be a long term project; it wasn’t and he is bearing the consequences.

He played a couple of seasons on Football Manager, saw how easy it was to get in the Prem and thought i'll have some of that.

Wazza is not going to walk away from £50,000 a week , doing a job he has no qualifications for . With the likes of Roy Mac and Eric Steele constantly covering for him because he is a “Celebrity”.  Crikey me we could have got Katie Price for £2k a week!

I'm just wondering what the win bonuses would have been.

  6. As i have posted before, if MM has nothing to hide why hasn't he submitted the accounts sooner. Nobody on here has a clue what the accounts look like, maybe when the accounts are re-submitted it opens a new can of worms. MM may have been (nobody knows) trying to convince new investors that things aren't so bad as they actually are and they would have been left with the unpaid taxes and other debts owing to Cocu and staff as well as Keogh etc.so he could have sold out and disappeared before the 18th. It may be possible that the EFL have an inkling as to the clubs finances and that is why they are demanding such assurances. As for the EFL using delaying tactics i don't think they would as they might see it as a case of getting rid of the thorn in their side as soon as possible if a takeover is lined up.

Morrison looked pure class today, best on the pitch. Byrne hasn’t played so well yet this season but he’s at his best linking w Joz and JK. Lawrence’s problem is certainly not lack of talent it’s inconsistency and sloth - he had a pretty good game today albeit wonky positionally at times. We looked the better team except in the final third and strangely that might change w CKR’s injury which might give Stretton and Sibley more starts, so better links up front.

The bigger point is: we have not yet recruited half of our squad. Any points we get before the window closes are a bonus, even points against Peterborough

What makes you think we are going to be able to add to the squad before the window closes. If the club has nothing to worry about from the resubmitted accounts i would have thought they would have got them in as soon as possible, the club must have had an idea they would have to do that so should have had them ready or, when they are resubmitted is it going to show things are worse than people are guesstimating and MM hoping by that time he would have sold up and ridden off into the sunset leaving someone else to carry the can

Mel Morris has to do something this week to try and save this football club.

    It's on its knees.

If he can sit back and accept this then I don't believe it.

Probably looks unlikely that CKR will play again this season.

So now Stretton is our only striker.

Well it will soon be the 18th to put us out of our misery one way or another.

I like Byrne but he had a poor game today. However, you can’t deny that was a poor error by Byrne in a critical area of the pitch. An error that had nothing to do with tactics, game plan, knowing your role or set up. No defender in the world would try to claim they didn’t know what they should do in that situation. He knew exactly what he had to but messed it up.

The whole team went into panic mode once they scored the equaliser.

What a farce, we are completely rudderless and an embarrassment. Talk about not having a pot to piss in.

Maybe taking the cash then having to hand it over to Posh is too much stress for the treasurer "there it was gone"!

MM is probably taking advantage of Furlough rules to save money until it comes to an end.

had another go and it worked ok. £60.23, for basically exactly the same tickets and route as standard on nationalrail, who want £85 for the privilege. All very mystifying.....

Did you choose the split ticket option?,that is often a lot cheaper than just A to B which nationalrail  tend to use. Even rail staff find the issuing of tickets confusing.

    Southampton...

42.40 is single fare I'm being quoted. Often you find that's the same as the cheap day return, but I'm getting quoted 2x42.40. Tried national rail, trainline and arrival x country so far.....

If I'm missing something obvious happy to be put right. For 40 quid I'd be in!

Have a look at raileasy.co.uk, cheapest return just over £60

I was thinking from Hampshire I'd be able to pick up an advance ticket avoiding London for about 30 quid.

But even x country are quoting 100 quid single on Saturday just to Birmingham.....madness! ?

Not looking in the right places, need to use a split ticket. Don't know where you are in Hampshire but can do Southampton - peterboro for just over £40.

I heard today from someone in the pub talking how they went to the club shop last week to buy a gift voucher.

Only to be told that we do not do gift vouchers anymore.

When questioned on why they wouldn't do gift vouchers anymore they were told "Because if you come back with it in a couple of weeks we can't promise that you'll be able to use it"

I have absolutely no idea why. A couple of weeks would roughly coincide with when we have to submit the accounts? Or it could be something is happening that is going to cause big changes?

    Any ideas welcome..

That would be around the 18th then, the last day the revised accounts have to be submitted.

Yeah, we ain't got them either.

Telly's on the concourse are switched off too to save money.

It's now £5 a pint too, and a £4+ hotdog comprises of a sausage and a roll, no onions mustard or ketchup because they don't have any.

MM must have sold the stash of ketchup he has been collecting from the motorway services to help pay some bills.

I saw someone else confirming in another thread that the debt to HMRC (according to sportscene) is tied into the submission of the new accounts - that HMRC can't work out how much we owe until the EFL sign off the accounts - it doesn't seem to be Morris refusing to pay or even not having the money

Lets just sit back and see what happens when the new accounts have been submitted and signed off.
