My 1st "escape" came against Spurs as a 15 year old, I'd stand where the floodlights were at the Vulcan St End right next to the Normanton Stand...a great view of the game and also the shenanigans along the Popside, At the end of the game I was intrigued(nosey)to see where all the fighting was after the game, Derby's main lad in those days was a guy called "Fagin" a guy that always wore a long coat and was a double for Jesus Christ, We got to Harrington St just off Shaftsbury St when we heard the noise from Spurs fans, Fagin held the line then Spurs ran down Harrington St, I was on my toes 😁I never stopped running until I got to TC Harrisons in Normanton🏃♂️😁
Fagin disappeared around a year or so later, He was thrown in the River Trent by Trent Bridge by the red dogs, To be replaced by Kev O'Reilly, Phil Clarke, Billy Parker, Freddie Howard, Herbie, Ossie Owen, Acca, Geordie, Larry Lightning, Phil Millward, A few years later I progressed to the back of the Popside...singing "you'll never take the Popside" a few tried...but never did 👍
Just wondering if this Phil Clarke and Freddie Howard are the same guys I was at Nightingale Juniors with. If it was, Howard was a gobby little s**** back then but I believe he is dead now.

Christ. If players can't handle working with Warne how would they have coped with Clough,(senior), Revie, Shanklin etc al?

Love this. Names, stories and derivations. I knew a bloke in Sheffield, surname Havenhand. His great grandparents were Dutch emigres and opened a Butchers Shop: “R. Van Hand.” Changed it at the outbreak of WW1 as anything faintly Germanic wasn’t popular. Shops name sounded the same in proper Yorkshire speak.
There was a guy called Keith Havenhand who played mainly for Derby reserves in the 60's.

Yeah, fleeced them for him but they stole Ebiowei who was much better.
Watched him a few times for Carlisle and we are well rid.

I've seen a few fans of other clubs mentioning the state of their pitches. Pissing down for days on end does not help at all.

Cashin seems to be more Dave Mackay light than Todd.

The EFL need to get every video of Pierluigi Collina officiating and make all the British referees watch them, and then make them practice "the stare" 5 hours a day.

Mainly because we surrendered possession to Carlisle, in another game we decided the best tactics was to not pass it to our own players. That's history now... hopefully the recent improvement continues.
I see JBrown and Guy both started again. Brown scored a very good goal last week, and it's great to see he's settled in to league football so we'll.
Carlisle had all the possession today but did four fiths of f**kall with it.

Went to Carlisle v Orient today and have a few observations. Why did we struggle to beat Carlisle? Orient are not much better but are dirty b*******. They will also waste time at the drop of a hat. They have a center half with the turning circle of a super tanker, but he gets his head to everything and is dangerous at set pieces. Their numbers 9 and 11 will throw themselves to the floor if anyone looks at them. All in all a crap game.

As I live about 15 minutes from Brunton Park this will be my home game. The tickets for the home support are not on sale yet, at least they weren't yesterday.

Yes. Jordan Rhodes and Ian Storey-Moore.
Ian Storey-Moore didn't change his mind. Derby and Moore had signed the forms and the red s**** changed their minds and refused to let him sign for the Rams.

I knew levelling up was a bad idea 😊
Christ. To level Bolton up you would have to nuke the rest of the country.

Do we really need two threads on a player who now plays for another team?

Looks like I won't be renewing. Just moved house to near Carlisle and the trains from there are a lottery without the useless train drivers striking every weekend. It was bad enough last year going from Berwick, and twice the train back stopped in Newcastle and I struggled to get home. It's not worth the hassle for a handful of games.

Putting my Uncle Albert hat on for a minute. During the war, well the 1970's, we had Hector, O'Hare, Durban, Hinton, Rioch, George who would get goals, but not 25 a season I'll admit. However, we also had McFarland, Nish and Gemmill who would also knock a few in. They have to be spread around the team to be really successful. Just my opinion like. 😁

Impossible job as its in Birmingham. A place in which, if just the sheer sight of it isn't enough to kill you, the accent will.
To quote Mike Harding, Birmingham, how can two million people have a speech impediment?

I know Howard spent some time "at Her Majesties Pleasure" so that might be one reason he disappeared.
