Steve McClaren's decision not to recall Craig Bryson to the starting line up at Wembley was ultimately why we lost the 2014 play-off final.

    This is one of those nonsense myths around Warne that some people just won’t drop. Just because the press or questionable football accounts on social media link us with a player doesn’t mean we’ll sign them. Last year we signed players from the following clubs;
    Arsenal
    Blackpool
    Bristol City
    Cardiff City
    Charlton
    Coventry
    Hull
    Luton
    Notts Forest
    Peterborough
    Rotherham
    Stoke
    Sunderland
    Wigan
The January window the season before we signed players from Norwich and Spurs. We’ve been told the club is looking at players across Europe, yet still some people want to peddle the myth that we only sign Rotherham cast offs 🙄

What a job the academy staff have done to keep us performing at such high levels, despite being torn apart over the last 3 or 4 seasons.
I know Paul Warne and his management team have done a great job, but I think its being matched by the academy management team.
Clowse must be a very happy boy.

Playing attractive winning football with players in the 22-28 range, with academy players in the mix as well is the ideal for any football fan, just think we have to be realistic at the same time.
We may have to look outside of that age range, we may have to look at the managers former players, we may have to sign lower league players in the hope they can step up.
We're not the only Championship club that is on the lookout for talented players at a decent age with resale value, we'll be competing with clubs for the signatures where our budgets cannot stretch to those that have parachute payments for example.
We're also going to be linked with a number of players that Warne hasn't even looked at, linked through the need to bring clicks.
Would be nice to have one summer where fans didn't flip out and go wild over every single player that doesn't fit the ideal criteria we have set.

My thinking is vini Jr is worth probably 250mill and he hasnt scored as many goals in the national league as Brown so maybe open biding at 300mill

    This.
Ideal scenario is probably four as you say.
Sign a quality striker and add another via, maybe a Prem loan.
That’s two additions in the area we need to improve most, along with central midfield.
After that I’d look at Gayle to see if he still has the legs for another season, with Brown as the other option.
Obviously PW would need to take a good look at Brown and Gayle to see if they are up to it. But in Browns case, if he struggles in the first half of the season, we could always loan him out to a league one club and get a loan in to cover.

I personally think this will have influenced the number of strikers that PW will look to recruit. Having Brown as 4th choice does (not*) seem too risky.

I think people are going a bit OTT over John Jules.
He didn’t show that much for us when fit. He’s got a decent touch but is lacking in a lot of areas. Ignoring his injuries I was yet to be convinced by his quality.  I think we can and will do better.

As I explained in a different thread, the model for streaming games is just not there.  It probably never will be as it is the one area normal TV has a distinct, and almost impossible to penetrate competitive advantage.  MM either did not understand this or did and was trying to frighten the horses at Sky to give clubs more.
    Basic example.
Sky are giving us £9m for next season.  This will be £195,652 per match whether broadcast or not.  This will be VAT free to DCFC.
To match that, at £10 per game (assuming each is broadcast) we would need 19,562 domestic subscribers.  However, we would only receive £8 in £10 due to tax.  Therefore, to break even we would need 24,456 people to pay for each match home and away to break even.
Home matches would clearly have lower subscriber numbers as you might as well go if you are going to charge.  Therefore, on any reasonable analysis to simply match Sky money we would need as many people watching EVERY game on TV (irrespective of home crowd) as were attending.  We would then need to pay for the production (which would need to have very good values to justify the subscriber needs), which Sky take care of.
Sky do this by economic aggregation.  The overall number of subscribers is so high that individual payments (to clubs) are relatively low (but high to them).  We would never have this luxury and can never realistically over come the sheer weight of the numbers I outline.
