Oldben got a reaction from DesertRam in Match Thread: Rams vs Leicester (Pride Park, today 1pm)
    No surprise about the result.
I cab see that the team still requires work, and derby are definitely missing that total striker.
We are missing a player who scores goals for fun ie Alfie May or cole Stockton.
    Defense still needs work.
We have some old midfielders who just don't have speed in their skill set.

This would be a very good signing. Why would he come here?
Apart from the fact that we are Derby county and we don’t give a ****

I would be a little disappointed if we don’t make top 2. We have a good Div1 budget and Liam has brought in players to get the job done first time of asking. It is not a 3 year plan , with the age of our players they have to do it this season. Next season would mean another re-build to get promotion again.

you can understand why derby want another keeper that is ready to compete with Wildsmith at this level, meaning Loach is third-choice and can help on the training ground.

Oldben got a reaction from 48 hours in James Collins - Signed for 2 years
From a cardiff fc forum ...
    "James Collins

Few could argue with the notion that James Collins' Cardiff City career hasn't panned out the way he expected. He came with goals in the bank from his previous club Luton mainly in the lower leagues and knew then-manager Mick McCarthy really well from their time together with the Republic of Ireland.

He looked to have slotted in seamlessly last pre-season against lower league clubs too, but for a whole manner of different reasons, including the performance and tactics of the team around him, then when given the chance in front of goals he continually missed, resulting in only 3 goals in 29 appearances for the Bluebirds.

A couple of goals eventually came after the change of manager but that was it, before he was bombed out all together from January, with Jordan Hugill, Uche Ikpeazu, Isaak Davies and Mark Harris all usurping him in the pecking order.

Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley has admitted Cardiff told them Collins was available to leave this summer, while Derby County appear to be leading the race for his signature.

But he has taken part in full pre-season and scored in that win over League 2 Cambridge United , that will do his chances of sealing a move no harm. Cardiff would ideally like a striker in before Collins is allowed to leave, but it might not transpire that way. Probably needs a fresh start and, at this stage, it looks highly unlikely he will be in the Welsh capital come the start of September."

    Birmingham City starlet Keyendrah Simmonds.
Simmonds’ record of 22 goals in 38 appearances for Manchester City’s U18s shows he knows where the goal is, and at only 21, he looks as though he could have a bright future in the game if he can maximise his potential.
With a possible free transfer deal on the cards, Simmonds could prove to be a shrewd pick-up.

"It wasn't me who scouted him (Oduroh), but somebody at the club I had mentioned in my pre-match press conference last week," he said. "We don't have a recruitment team at the moment. Every club has around 10 to 15 people working in a recruitment team, but because of what has happened at the club we haven't had one.
"Pete Shuttleworth, who is the club analyst, has probably spent 24 hours a day scouring not just this country but the continent. As an analyst, has gone above and beyond to help this football club. It's the same with Jon Howard. It's a collaboration and we are all working beyond our roles but that's what this club deserves and how it has to continue moving forward."

I understand, getting out of League 1 as quick as possible should be the aim.

I just don’t believe fielding a team of 32-37 year olds is the safest way to do that.  Injuries and rests will need to happen, as well as needing some players who can run all day. CD (who I love!), will very likely not be suiting up every game again as he did last year…that was a monumental effort, that certainly can not be expected again.

Derby are under a business plan, so the risk of slippery slope over paying is not really a risk…which is great! And as such, any experience brought in will not be a gamble on the future of the club.

But I still think for the club (long term), we should be letting some of these young lads in the first team. We’d likely be loaning them out to league 1 sides anyway…so, let them play in our league 1 side.

I think bryne and buchanan are two sides of the same coin, tricked by their agents into thinking they can rip up their contracts and walk away for nothing without action.
Think this is another one for the court of arbitration for sport at fifa to resolve.
I think as with buchanan, the efl will not support the player but will support derby.
Its interesting as it potentially means a decent payout for both players to Derby.
Fifa of course have the power to do things like removing the license to operate for their agents and fining the club's who take then on, even though the players remain registered to Derby.
Our new owner has enough wealth to back a proper legal case against players and its not in derbys interests to lose two young players from whom the club would expect a transfer fee.

    No thanks.
We have now signed enough older players and midfielders. We don’t need him.
With our limited budget, we need another winger, another striker, full backs, a GK and then start focussing on the rebuild of the academy kids please.
