Actually I don't think EFL are entitled to insist on straight line amortisation. There is nothing in their rules that allows then to do that.
But really i wouldnt give a figgy which method the EFL insisted on. If they had insisted on straight line in 2016 then fair enough. But then letting us adopt something else and then charging us four years later for using a different one, and then penalising us again for overspending as a result, well that is just ridiculous in my view.

    Pah. Pathetic.
Wouldn't be part of such a scheme.
Don't want Derby County's name to be associated with such a scheme. Put your own names to it, you don't speak for Derby fans en mass!

Count me out. This is just pure revenge and we ought to be better than that, apart from the fact that it would do nothing to benefit Derby County.
It’s not going to happen anyway.

Bear in mind Mel still owns the stadium and in consequence, whether we like it or not, we're still dependent on his goodwill to complete the successful transition to new ownership. If he's looking for an excuse to say duck it, this is exactly the kind of thing that could give him it....

The trouble is, given the admin team chose to accept the EFL's "deal", we will never know the reasons for going into admin. An independent review of what those reasons would have been helpful .   whether they were due to COVID or not (and a multi million pound hit is certainly a major factor). I dont think the EFL came out of the previous indpendent reviews well at all.

You are basing your vitriol on the supposition that he had the choice to bail us out, he has plenty of money in readies , you think.  But we don't know that, and now we never will know because perhaps with a view to a quick sale  and a clean slate the admin team chose to do a deal with EFL.

When we are hoping he will write off his soft loans and donate PPS to aid the sale of the club, I don't think now is the time for any vitriol at all. And when we are hoping for a buyer to invest £60 million into the club, I don't think pouring vitriol on a past owner who has invested far more than that is a good idea either.

Or if Mel had closed a deal to sell the club in January 2020, wiping out our FFP problems and any risk of liquidity problems due to COVID.
You can add Hughes and bryson injuries in first game of 2015/16 and we bought Johnson and Butterfield instead at huge cost. neither of them as good as the players they were replacing.

Or if Roos hadn't dropped the ball onto John McGinn's head. Or maybe if Lampard hadn't played Mount againt Accrington, his injury in that game  started a bad run of form killing off our chances of automatic.
    Oh well.

PistoldPete got a reaction from DesertRam in Middlesbrough lodge £45m compensation claim
Clubs can only claim through a process  in accordance with EFL Rules. EFL can change the rules, as it has done on stadia sales and reinterpreted the rule on amortisation.  It is not in the interests of the EFL for clubs to be engaged in litigation against each other, and Derby would have much more valid claims against other clubs.

Because the second tribunal was not allowed to consider new evidence - although I’m sure we said in the first one that the amortisation approach had been cleared by auditors.

The appeal panel chose to accept the views of Professor Pope whose evidence had been dismissed for several reasons (lack of practical accounting experience, lack of knowledge about the football industry, lack of understanding of the role of an expert witness (to provide informed balanced insight, not present one side’s argument). We should have fielded our own witness, but it was frankly scandalous that Pope’s evidence was re-introduced given the ruling on it before.
