The irony of all this talk of corruption seems entirely lost on the Gumpies. Burn a bakery, buy a judge, intimidate and buy off juries, arrange for a few witnesses to have accidents, that's all fine apparently, but deny them a decision in a game of footy and they completely lose their collective minds. Then again, given how they mithered and wailed over a chicken balti pie, it's not entirely unexpected.

The club seem very worried about going down. Surely, with all their huge spending they've factored in the impact of a relegation, right?
Obviously, no one wants to go down, but a bit of yo-yoing could be expected for a club like Forest, on their journey to becoming (at least) an established Premier League club?
I guess they were unable to stay within the rules for spending though, hence the points deduction. For their sake, I hope all this spending hasn't left the club/owner in financial ruin if the mighty Forest were somehow, unbelivably, and of course unfairly, relegated!

What I don't get is, all their fans crying that there's a conspiracy against them.  Like if these decisions went their way they'd be pulling a Leicester and blowing the fabled Top 6 out the water.  Even if they'd gotten half of the 'supposedly' dodgy calls in their favour, they'd still be sh!t, just sh!t with a few more points.  But instead of pointing the finger at the fat bar-steward of a chairman, dross players or the crappy recruitment team, they're deflecting.  They should face up to the fact that they've blown close to £300 million to go backwards, instead of believing that the EPL are scared of them becoming the next Premier League powerhouse, and somehow sticking it to the elite  It's not the 70's anymore...

I read the Salt Lick by Lulu Allison last year and loved it. Got it as it was nomimated for a prize and had salt in the title. It's not about salt. It is set in the near future though, which I think is a good time for books to be set.
I don't tend to read reviews, want to know as little as possible for a new book. I find looking at the table displays in Waterstones enough to find a good one to read. They usually have plenty of well regarded recent novels on display, or modern classics I've not read.
I don't read that much though, if I was churning through a book a week, I might do a bit more research.

If Warne thinks we can be mid-table with having only 8 starting players, I'm not going to argue with him.  Me being a bit of conventionalist, I'd always have 11 players on the pitch at the start of a game.

    Out of contract players:
Bird who's on his way to Bristol City
    Sibley who I'd keep
Wildsmith who I'd keep and spend lots of time improving his distribution
JJ who probably won't be getting an new contract offer at Arsenal. IF we offer him one it should be a low basic wage increasing if he's fit to play, increase again if on the bench, again if he comes on, again if he starts. He's a very good player in the making. His injuries are the problem so a "stepped" contract seems a reasonable thing to offer.... provided there is going to be an offer.
Barks who I'd keep but as a squad player as opposed to a starting XI player
Ebou who I hope we cam prise from Cardiff for obvious reasons and a reasonable price.
    Tommo who I'd keep
Gayle I'd let go as he didn't do well for Stoke in the SBC and is 34
Hourihane is off to coach at Villa. Thanks and good luck in the future
Smith I'd probably let go simply because of his age. Squad player? Possibly but I don't think PW will offer him a deal
Collo I'd let go as I don't see him being as "prolific" in the SBC
Fozzy IF he can prove his fitness possibly as cover, despite his age
Waggy thanks for your service but it's now time to go
Robinson I'd keep, he's one for the future
Loach does some coaching and, if fit, is an adequate 3rd keeper. If fit worth another year
OUT OF CONTRACT IN 2025 ARE
Nyambe I'd offer an extension, possibly 2 years
Nelson 1 year extension maybe 2
Fornah I'd cash in. Wouldn't be much but better than nothing.
Bradley let his contract run down
Washington was injured when he arrived, has been that way for much of the season, 19 appearances. Contract run down or let go
    Wilson give him an extension

They can make offside like goal line technology, automated. And that is what they are working on.
I’d scrap VAR for the rest and just leave it to human decisions.
But let’s be honest. VAR has come in because all those involved didn’t accept human error.

Didn't watch the match but from this image it looks like the Coventry player is more or less stationary and the Man Utd player is jogging back - a fraction of a second later he would have been onside.
Regardless, as @Grumpy Git rightly said, VAR was bought in to avoid obvious errors, with the game moving at speed and it being impossible to tell the millisecond the ball has left the boot, far thicker offside lines should be used and if they overlap its onside.  You can barely split the 2 players in question (especially the centre of body rather than toenail) imho the goal should have probably stood if that was the margin.

I think there should be something akin to the "umpire's call" in cricket. If the margin by which they are offside is so small that no human could possibly tell the difference by the naked eye, then the decision goes the way the linesman called it. If that means making the lines a bit thicker or something else, then so be it.  Other elements of VAR are there to (apparently) correct clear and obvious errors.  While offside is factual, the decision today was not a clear and obvious error; he wasn't standing a foot offside and the linesman was asleep, it was millimetres.  Allow for a small margin of error.
As someone on Twitter said "I am VAR, destroyer of dreams!".  Not how it should be.

"Was it right that Mick Hartford was on VAR duty and are 3 50:50 penalty decisions going against you enough to cry corruption?"

That’s true. And I accept that wherever you draw the line, there will be millimetre decisions.
My point was that this isn’t what the offside rule was for. It was to prevent persistent goal hanging with a defending team just hoofing the ball up to a player who was dawdling near the goal.
This seems to be against the spirit of that.

It should be… if any part of the attacker is onside, they are  onside. Would feel a lot more acceptable getting rulers out for this than the current situation.

Coventry goal against Manchester United. Attacker’s left little toe nail was 1/2cm closer to the goal.
Surely that isn’t what the offside rule is for?

    From the BBCs Simon Stone.
BBC Sport has been told Nottingham Forest made contact with PGMOL on Friday to highlight the potential for Nuno Espirito Santo being asked about Stuart Attwell’s appointment in his weekly press conference that afternoon.
As it turned out, the subject was not raised in the press conference.
It is being stressed that at no point were PGMOL asked to change the appointment or that Forest had an issue with Attwell’s involvement in the game.
    From the original Forest tweet.
We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him.

Looks like they never even enquired about Attwell being dropped! …..🤡🤡

Ludicrious the Mail doesn't say Clatters is paid by Forest. Less dire news sources usually say when the writer is under the pay of the organisation they are defending.
Some of the morons who read the Mail will now be thinking "that independent and unbiased former ref and Gladiators dork Clatternberg thinks Forest has been unfairly treated, so maybe that joke statement the club put out is ok". Makes a change about worrying about small boats. Wonder what Clatters thinks about that.
