I am also 29, so I most certainly agree. I just don’t think a 29 year old who claims to be a world champion boxer with no prior link to the club or his own money is really the best option. Any network looking to do a football documentary absolutely must be on the phone now.

I’ve just read a few lines on Wikipedia and I’m not much of a fan of Vox. Have we been bought by the Spanish Nigel Farage?

My personal view of vox is that they are a populist party looking to exploit a country that is politically polarised with a relatively recent history of extremism.  There are lots of things to not like about them but obviously many people will disagree with me.  The leader appears to like standing with a stoney look chin thrust out ( think Mussolini).  Anyway it is my personal opinion.

Came a bit out of the blue this really didn’t it, trying to get my head round why somebody would want to commit to buying a club that could well be relegated in a months time.
The bloke absolutely screams amateur hour, the fact he’s already been turned into a meme on twitter doesn’t exactly bode well.

The big question though is where is the money coming from? The athletic are reporting that the club has been bought outright with no debt or borrowing involved, so somebody’s got some money. Have to see how this unravels I guess, certainly doesn’t fill me with confidence mind.

(these are just my thoughts on the matter, which aren't worth any more than anyone else's - i'm not looking to start a political debate on a Derby fans forum!).
I studied a bit about Vox at Uni a few years ago. Obviously, i'm not an expert on Spanish politics, but I can say that his association with them does concern me, and I do think some things are bigger than football. There isn't really an exact UK equivalent - their views are far more extreme than UKIP but they aren't proponents of fascism like the NF or BNP.
A quick skim of the internet revealed that their leader called for another Reconquista of the Muslim population in Spain in 2019 - for anyone who knows their Spanish history, this is pretty awful.
I've seen some people point out that there wasn't this much outrage over the Shiekh, which is fair, but I would say this is slightly different in that we know for a fact how Alonso has been involved politically. The Shiekh's history was as unclear as his takeover attempt was.
I've also seen a few 'keep politics out of football', or 'its not his politics that matters' posts. I respect that for some, it is simple to separate the morality of happenings around football from the sport itself. But for me, and presumably others, it isnt that simple and these things matter. The club represents the fans and the city, meaning that in a way the owner does too.
The sad thing is, it really doesn't matter if we are concerned or not. This appears to be going ahead and that's that. All we can hope is that he keeps whatever views he has out of Derby.

If nothing else, this news has meant the closure of the 507-page 'Abu Derby County' thread, which has been a part of our lives for so many months. I for one am mourning its passing

Look, I'm not saying I want the bloke out or even that he has right wing views. All I am saying is that, in general, I was often aghast to see how quickly Man City fans just blindly ignored Shinawatra's ill doings just because he threw some money at the club. I'm not saying, repeat I'm not saying, Alonso is that guy but I am saying it wouldn't sit comfortably with me if any owner of Derby had extreme political views (tbh - in pretty much any direction).
As for it being a keeper, depends what his views were - if he thought ginger birds stunk of wee then I probably couldn't get too exercised over it, if he thought selling arms to Yemen was a good thing I might be a little more animated.

The point is that his politics aren't only perceived - he stood as an actual candidate just over two years ago. His politics have a big flashing light over them saying 'I support Vox'.

    Exactly.
Most business people are usually careful to be well away form any politics for very sensible reasons.
Either way, the real concern (or at least the unknown element) concerns the actual money behind the deal. What are the intentions? What is the budget? What are the longer term plans? I personally fear it's going to be 3 amigos mk2 with a season (or two) at trying to be proomoted followed by fire sale if we bugger it up again.
