They have to agree to it as well, so was released I guess. Was about to sign for port vale so am hoping people temper their expectations slightly. Is not the Dwight Gayle of years ago scoring 20 a season in the championship.
hopefully does a job for us!

Some observations: Adams didn’t het a yellow card, while still playing his normal game - that in itself is worth celebrating. As is the rare fact that afik no Derby players were booked. The only surprise is that the fat man didn’t blather on about biased match officials!
The fans were stupendous today, and were loud from the off, and really got going in the second half. We had to be loud and get behind the team, but the Collins loss has put us into a “backs to the wall” situation, which may have had something to do with it.
I didn’t think Stevenage showed as much “thug” football as I was expecting, but their dark side is still there. It took what seemed like 30 or 40 cynical/professional fouls before a card was shown. The ref actually did fairly well, but did start giving a lot if soft decisions in Stevenage's way in the second half, almost as though he had received his half-time efl email! A couple these soft decisions close together just before Corey Smith got the fans backs up and up went the volume and Derby started to look a little more adventurous.
The goal wasn’t just Sibbo stabbing at a loose ball. Louie stepped back from his marker and signalled to Nate who duly obliged, and just one bit of skill got us 3 points instead of one. For such a “war of attrition”, it is the best I have felt at the end of match for ages.
    Thank you, you Rams!

It was telling in his interview when he mentioned the Derby and the fans have made him enjoy playing football which is telling to how Cardiff treated him. Reckon he’s one player who will be pushing for a permanent transfer

Suspect that’s why the crowd didn’t get on their backs at all today. Everybody could see the effort was there but just wasn’t coming off. Perhaps subconsciously there was the thought that if we got behind them it might just lift them (and for last 20 mins or so it seemed to work).  Much better approach than whinging and booing!!

Was there a lesson to be learned at PP today?
The crowd really seemed to step it up mid way through the second half and the team seemed to respond, maybe we have a role to play in the run in?

Yes it does … and why ? … because the “opposition” seem quite comfortable with using descriptions like clown, PE teacher, Small time manager. You reap what you sow. .There will always be an equal an opposite reaction.
I get really stroppy these days and am considering bowing out because the anti Warne stuff from about half a dozen posters is so toxic and inaccurate, it disturbs my karma. I wonder if you would caution those who say clown or describe our manager as inept or make mockery of his desire to have honest players with heart and character rather than just money grabbers after a pay cheque
Not having a go at you personally but just pointing out that it is a two way street.

We were nearly gone 18 months ago. Now we are in second place and have just won 3 tough points with a fantastic supportive crowd, yet because of the dripping poison from a certain merry band this is a 10 year forum low for me. It isn’t about folk having ideas or opinions or differing views, it’s a mindset that’s ugly and needs to be challenged. So well done @Stive Pesley

You can only beat the team in front of you.
I've been one of Warne's fiercest critics, but we never looked like being beat today, it was just a big scrap and we won it with a last round knockout.

I agree with you. I enjoyed the game, we performed well, in a game, that was always going to be a battle and we won the 3 points. Another great week to be a Derby County supporter.

I remember when playing Wimbledon in the old First Division was also classed as tough, and often was exactly that, and they were no 'bigger' than Stevenage are now. It was losing to the likes of them regularly that made the idea of a European Super League so appealing to the "big" clubs in the first place.
Recognising that our status earns us no favours in this division isn't something to be ashamed of, it's facing up to the reality which ought to make everyone determined to get out it asap.

Another tough match ahead, though I'm oddly confident. I think we know what we'll face this time around (yes, we probably should have known first time too!) and I think a midfield, replete with thug obliterator Ebou Adams, should enable us to do the business and do it well. Evans will look to mitigate Bird and Nate and will be content that his CBs will cope with Collo, should he be deemed fit to play. That means his tactics will revolve around getting his players to kick Max Bird a lot, with Nate getting kicked even more, often by multiple players at once.
With Ebou therefore having at least 6 or 7 deserving targets, I'd imagine the urge to throat punch a couple of them will be hard to resist and I'd certainly consider betting Ebou to collect his 4th card in 4 outings. That said, I reckon the ref hates Stevenage even more than I do, so we'll probably also get awarded 4 or 5 penalties to balance things out, with Sonny Bradley notching the last of them with a cheeky Panenka, thereby securing himself a hattrick, the MOTM award, gushing praise from the Rams faithful and a subsequent move to Real Madrid.
So, there you have it. A day that culminates in a comfortable 3 or 4-1 win for the lads and the SS singing songs about Sonny Bradley's c**k. Marvellous!

Stupidly think we will win 2/3-0 tomorrow. NML Bird and Adams on fire all players look too good for the level and think if we match Stevenages fight and desire, which has upped recently. We should win.
No wonder NML is on fire just seen if he plays 6 more games for us we will be the club he’s represented the most in his career and needs just 4 goals to beat his record of 20 with Rochdale.

Getting a player settled in can really see them flourish.

Yeah, I've also heard that when he's good he's special. To be fair, one of the times I saw him was at Wembley Arena - I think you could see The Beatles supported by Jimi Hendrix (with Janis Joplin on backing vocals) there and it would still be underwhelming.

I was just a few weeks shy of 15. Got the train from Utch with about 25 others, flanges and scraves everywhere. It was glorious weather, absolute carnival atmosphere round the town and walking up to the ground. The match itself was dire due to Derby players being hungover (or still drunk) and Carlisle already relegated and not wanting to spoil the party.
On the pitch after for ages, singing and dancing, 2nd title in 3 seasons, best team in the land.......

My mum and granny both worked as cooks at the British Midland Hotel, where the team were ensconced under a strict night-time curfew in the days leading up to the final.
Reg Harrison and Jackie Stamps were friends of the family, so naturally the ladies showed them the way out of the kitchens in order for serious 'team building' to take place (probably in the Brunny).

As we near the business end of the season, with 14 games to go, the path to automatics is becoming more distinct:
win 11 and we're likely promoted; win 10 and it's very much in the balance; win 9 and it's the playoffs for us. Those 14 games are split 8 home and 6 away:
H Stevenage A Barnsley H Charlton H Port Vale A Bristol Rovers H Reading H Bolton A Northampton H Blackpool A Portsmouth A Wycombe H Orient A Cambridge H Carlisle We used up one life last Saturday by only drawing at home to Shrewsbury. If we want automatic promotion, in this mediocre division draws are effectively defeats unless playing Bolton or Portsmouth.
For this match we need to step it up in home, as we should be hoping/expecting to win 7 out of the 8 remaining home games, and then 4 out of the 6 remaining away games. It isn't quite "must-win" but it very nearly is. Let's hope the crowd gets behind the lads, and the lads give the crowd strong reason to get behind them. Come on you Rams!

Just seen Boltons next 7 league games include 5 away fixtures. Travelling over 1,100 miles.

Also that from now until after they play us on the 16th of March they’ve to play every Tuesday to catch up on missed games.

They’ve already picked up injuries to their best Defender and best striker Santos and Charles. Could see them getting a bit of a burn out with them fixtures.
Big few weeks to try build a gap over them.

I thought that last night's game was almost the perfect away performance. For all those complimenting Exeter on how well they played the ball around, I ask "is that because we let them do so in not dangerous areas?"
For all their possession and 'attractive' football. how many proper saves did Wildsmith have to make, a big fat zero! On the other hand their keeper had to make a few decent saves, in addition to the 3 goals we scored.
Could you imagine the 'moaners' on here had the teams been reversed last night, it would have been a total melt down. Comments like knocking it around with no penetration, got caught 3 times and could have easily been 5.
