It’s all to do with telic- & para-telic meta-motivational states, modified by the consumption of copious amounts of alcohol and/or other drugs and, if you are of the Freudian persuasion as a psychotherapist, being stuck at the point of penis-envy added to a failure to process feelings of maternal warmth, possibly due to an absence of breast-feeding, wherein you are driven to sublimate internalise feelings of inadequacy by subjecting perceived rivals to violence and aggressive verbal abuse. Or summat 🤷‍♂️

As you know ICF/DLF were not around then, Tho the Mile End Boys were...WHU, We had a beating in the Greyhound Pub at the back of Wembley Stadium 50 of us on the coach against many more.
Just before the game had finished we could see WHU fans leaving the ground, All Derby stayed behind to cheer Roy Mac and the lads with the Shield, By that time we got to leave the ground half of London was outside there waiting for us, It didn't look good, But we had a fella in Kev O'Reilly as hard as they come, Stood on the steps and screaming at us to move forward, We had 2 choices...do as he said and get a beating or go back in the ground and get a beating when back in town, We chose the 1st option, It wasn't very good as our numbers were still coming out of the ground but soon enough the numbers were getting on equal terms...then numbers in our favour, As you said it was the Derbyshire Miners that helped take the day...and night in Old London Town.
A very hot day with dust clouds all over the place, The police just couldn't cope, You say it lasted a few seconds not where we were concerned, It was payback for the Greyhound incident, Scaffolding poles and planks were at hand, Bottles from inside the ground were used by both sides...probably the worst violence I've seen or been involved in as a 19 year old
Years later talking to some "ICF" lads who were there, They admitted it was our day, Bill Gardner who was their top lad admitted through gritted teeth that "Derby had WHU on their toes".

Early 70s, L**ds away. Me, my mate and our GFs. The only 4 Derby fans in the end opposite the Gelderd. 10 minutes or so before the end we heard a shout from behind us away to our left. 30 to 40 "laddos" screaming let's get the barstewards or words to that effect. We start to head to the bottom right and the exit. I was shouting "coming through" or words to that effect. 2 blokes wouldn't move and the adrenaline saw me remove them from our path. Outside, we began the run back to the station with the brave Yorkshire ****s a good 50 yards back. We let the girls get ahead of us so, if we were going to get caught, we could have a couple before the eventual good kicking, giving the girls more time to make the station in safety. They never caught us. Slowed to a walk as the 4 of us approached the station. Loads of L**ds looking for "fun". We sent the girls on ahead and they got through. We had to endure a short skirmish to get past the "laddos". Took less than we gave and avoided any painful blows.
The Roger Davies Cup replay at Spurs. Managed to avoid the running fights getting back to Seven Sisters for the tube to the train. Got on the Ramaway. Some of Spurs finest then jumped the barriers and got on the train. A fight ensued but the Cheeky Cockney Chappies didn't stay on the train long as they weren't winning the scuffle.
ICF at Wembley, 1975. First few Derby out of the stadium were women and kids mainly and they took a hit. Then a contingent of South Derbyshire mineworkers were next out together with a fair few of what would have been DLF lads had the term been coined back then. The fight lasted a few seconds and the 'ammers decided the odds weren't right and did a runner.
Had the odd fight at football but never started one.

I first came across the story listening to a BBC podcast about it (back in 2020 or something). A truly shocking story (even allowing for elements added to the TV series for dramatic effect.

Apparently, nearly a million people have signed a petition for Vennells to be stripped of her CBE. The petition can be signed at: you.38degrees.org.uk/ petitions/strip-paula- vennells-of-her-cbe

Possibly... all I know is he is our most potent attacking threat, looks fitter than last year ...and there would have been a huge outcry if he'd been 'let go'.
Great news. Shows some planning and that we arent going to wait til the summer and end up in the cart.

I'm very pleased with this. Playing like he is, could have probably got a better deal elsewhere, but he loves being here and it shows. Fit and happy.
I don't mind if he becomes more of an impact player going forward, still a deadly asset.

I've known about this scandal for a few years and really can't understand why its taken a TV drama to get the government to really do something right for a change, (oh, hang-on)...................
HM government are still using Fujitsu for NEW government IT/support services too! Make your own mind up.

I thought I'd start a new thread as it was starting to get discussed in the watchable telly thread.
I haven't watched the ITV drama yet but I will.
I was aware of the story, but not especially as it happened when we were living in the US and I had no clue it ran into hundreds of people with each one being told nobody else had other issues.
This is looking like the biggest scandal/cover-up of our time with a lot of people complicit. I hope the duckers who ok'ed this at the highest level get sent down.

The rams are doing B4 proud. I received a pleasant surprise yesterday at my family’s get  together, my great aunt knew the family and was at the funeral I had no idea B4 was so connected. I feel more optimistic every time all things Rams are mentioned and realised I was becoming a little cynical so in B4 spirit! Let’s keep up this form and shadow step past the rocky infamous February and go full steam ahead. We’re coming for you Pompy 🐏❤️

3 points away from home. Tough gig against a physical team with a new manager and we did what we had to do. Some attempts at playing nice football on a horrible narrow pitch that never really came off but we dug in when needed and always looked capable of scoring whilst admittedly not very secure at the back.
Promotion seasons are built on games like this.

Good result today - sort of game we often lose - sky, bottom, new manager, after christmas. not always in control but we did it. Players stepped up when needed and when they did we looked a level above.
Just want to say not been Collins' biggest fan but in this run of ours he's been excellent - works so hard for the team and got his goals.

Exactly right. Just look at the Portsmouth result a couple hours later, another team fighting for promotion away to a side in the bottom 4, except they lost. These games can look easier on paper, but these are exactly the games we have slipped up in in previous promotion battles over the years.
I don't think we played that well, but in a weird way, I don't think we "tried" to. We have a busy schedule, players will get tired. I think Warne is looking to get us to do enough to win, but not exert too much energy needlessly. I think that showed after they got their goal, because we got control of the game straight away and opened up another 2-goal advantage, after being pretty poor and being under pressure from them for 15-20 minutes before that.
It's risky, because the tide could have turned and Fleetwood could've gone on to get a point, but I think if they didn't get that goal, we wouldn't have gone out to grab the third because it wasn't necessary.
It might not be the prettiest, but it's effective and getting results and that's the most important thing right now.

Must admit was quietly a bit nervous about this game, not because of the starting line up, but because this is the type of team and situation ( bottom of the league, new manager) that we have come unstuck against previously, so having won this one feels like a bit of a statement. Thought Wilson had a brilliant first half especially, Collins worked so hard as usual, and Bird also good after getting, in my opinion, some undeserved stick on here. Onwards we go!

Gonna be honest and say his line in chat drove me bonkers to start with, but I think it's just his schtick and perhaps something he does to address his nerves. These days, he just makes me laugh, though I'd likely not be so 'charitable' were we losing every week. That said, I'd actually like to see him enjoy some success at Derby, even if he might not be the long term solution and the fact that he irritates the **** out of his detractors makes me chuckle too. Far from everyone's cup of tea, but certainly not the fool some believe him to be.

Honestly, wake up. I don’t think I have ever seen a post so entitled, plain ignorant (and lacking intelligence, perspective and plain common sense. ) Look at what you have written. Think man.
