He has zero to do with the issues we now find ourselves in, but he has acted with utter class.
He's had no money and is playing a number of players he knows aren't good enough (at least at the moment) without a word of complaint publicly.
He's just got on with his job and tried to get this team playing decent football with one hand tied behind his back, wearing lead boots and being made to wear a balaclava the wrong way around.
And then he hears about going into administration on TV like the rest of us and rather than whining or walking out he gets on with his job.
I really like what I'm seeing, especially when you consider he's in his first year of management and the second youngest boss in the entire football league.
He should have control of this team if/when he has money to spend, or at the very least until the end of this season.
If he does walk or get pushed, I for one will be bitterly disappointed.

He's right and that's one of the most upsetting things.
I've said on another thread, the promise of the youngsters coming through has been the one bright spot in the last couple of difficult years.
To lose them for peanuts instead of seeing them fulfill their potential at Derby is heartbreaking.

I think he did well there.
As much as we can hope for an owner who has billions, it’s not realistic. They all want us at the cheapest price and know that administration is the best way to do that. They’ve forced Mel’s hand and he knows that long term this is the best for the club. Also Mel knows the EFL will never give us a fair run without him gone.
He’s never set out to ruin the club and I’m fairly certain if any of us had the money he had we would have tried to do the same.
The amortisation part was a risk, but the EFL didn’t say a word for years and we were conforming to the financial standards. How someone that is not an accountant gets the final say over an accountant I’ll never know.
As much as everyone can say covid can’t be used as an excuse, it’s had a massive contribution towards it. Our turnover was one of the largest in the championship, probably the biggest of clubs that don’t get parachute payments. We’ve been hit harder than any other club and the timing of Covid came at the end of our big spending.
Interesting what he said about only 2 teams that have been promoted since P&S was brought in have not broken the rules. Shows how broken the system is.
We beat Villa at Wembley and none of this ever happens.

Probably plenty but, here’s a novel idea, let’s not pre-judge or speculate. Let’s hear it first then, if appropriate, we can let rip.

    Hey All,
I heard this news earlier. I don't know much about the history of how you got to this stage but I know that it's due to mismanagement and really poor conduct by owners. I also heard Rooney earlier say he heard about the Administration when watching TV.
I was gutted to hear this latest update. I like Derby - although that's not really the point at the minute...
I think the point that I wanted to make is that every single football fan really needs to take notice here. It could be there club next. It doesn't matter if they're your biggest rivals, you hate the club, etc.. it's more than that. I'm sick of seeing rich owners come in, playing at being a chairman, making poor decisions or taking risks and then putting the whole club in jeopardy. I'm also sick of the rest of the footballing world just ignore it and almost watch on with mild interest to see what happens. We're all football fans first and foremost and clubs like yours and others have been around well over a hundred years and form a huge part of the community.
It's the fans that really suffer here. Not to mention the staff, those in back office roles, canteen staff, cleaners, car park attendants, maintainance people, etc...
Anyway, I hope that there is some better news for you soon although I realise things look bleak. I know you're going to try to negotiate on the points deduction, either way hopefully there's some clarity and closure on that so you at least know where you stand and can focus on football.
Great result today as well (at least that's one positive!)

Just in from a phenomenal afternoon at pride park (had to drop the number 1 son back at Nottingham uni afterwards)
Almost had us in tears at the start of the game as the crowd was the loudest and proudest I've ever heard it and the players reacted to it as soon as they came down the tunnel...even they were in awe of the noise and the stoke fans were immediately shocked into silence.
Immensely proud of the team today who all fought like lions and of all of the fans who continued to be relentless in their support.
I love this club and I'll support it whatever is thrown at us and wherever we end up.

Not sure if someone else has put this up but a bit of class from Michael O’Neill
“We had two really good chances before we did score, but I can't begrudge Derby the win, they've had a really difficult 24 hours.
"I thought they showed great spirit in how they played, the crowd were terrific as well."

Fantastic game today Roos and the defence were again immense but nobody stopped working across the pitch. Went with Grand Kids for their first game and even in the North stand it was loud to the extent that the youngest (6) was struggling to cope with the noise the eldest (8) got right into it ‘when’s the next match can I go’ a proud day to support our great club UTR

Just got back. That was effing brilliant. I just wanted to go and watch us play. And we did. Some very tidy football and to be fair we should have been out of sight at half time. But we are Derby and if we can find a way to make it difficult, we will.
But what was obvious today was that fans and players alike - We Are Derby!

Needless to say, today's game is huge.
If we lose, we lose, but we need to see the players leave everything on the pitch, IF they do that, as Wigan did, dare I say we stand a chance of surviving, albeit a slim chance.
Now if they walk out, heads down looking defeated then it's finished, we're down without a fight and I fear Rooney will walk despite showing incredible loyalty so far.
The players need to step up for him, if not for us, and we, as fans, love him or hate him need to give him all the backing we can starting from today.
We do not want to be on the lookout for a new manager whilst in administration, a squad full of kids.
-12 is a given, we know that's coming as it's been confirmed, however if the EFL write off all the other potential punishment as they did with Swindon due to new ownership, we may be in a position to bring in some new faces in January.
Let's be honest, the EFL are not out to punish us, the fans, the club itself. Their crosshairs are lined squarely on Mel's forehead. If he's out the picture, they may lower their weapons.
Understand this is all very optimistic given what has happened, the odds are not stacked in our favour, however I can't sit here and demand the players do not walk on to the pitch today already defeated whilst having that attitude myself.
If there ever was a time for siege mentality, this is it.

To add to what I’ve said already the fans need to be careful today. We’re already in a lot of trouble. How we behave today will help build or destroy the image of the club. Sure we’re angry. Sure we’re hurting. But we should be a positive force today.
We don’t need drunken yobs tarnishing the name of the club through their actions.

Just another thought tonight, spare a thought for all the staff at the club tonight, there is a lot of good people in that are not only staff but supporters and care just as much as we do about this club and will be in bits tonight worried about their futures as well as the club.
Would be good if we can come together and support them through a gofundme or something, not sure how that can be organised, if anyone has experience of these things hit me up, better use of our energy right now.

Looks like Gibson co-ercing the EFL to appeal the stadium sale, subsequently passed as legal, has turned out to be the main driver keeping this hanging over us for so long. If the decision had been accepted as it should, then the other stuff could well have been sorted a lot earlier.
Gibson's got his way, The EFL have been proven to be a weak and cowardly organisation.
Yes, the buck stops with Morris, but if the EFL had conducted themselves impartially and not reactive to Gibsons mardarsery, it would have been resolved months ago.

Really irritates me that Gibson throwing his toys out his pram has ultimately cost us a takeover and resulted in hard working people behind the scenes losing their jobs.
Then football in general, the big 6 nearly destroyed english football bit have got away with it, we try to get promotion and overspend & get punished by a governing body who should be there to help & support their members not seek & destroy them.
Then finally, teams who got lucky & got promoted whilst breaching P&S/FFP get away with it as do the likes of the deals between Watford/Udinese & Forest/Olympiakos which clearly are done to get around the rules

Well .. that’s it then. League one next season and with a points deduction on top of that.

All things pass .. we are going to have 3 or 4 difficult years by the sounds of things.
So what ! As long as the club survives as an entity and 11 blokes pull on a shirt. Then we get behind them and hope for a win.

I only hope un secured creditors, the small people, don’t get shafted by systems and politics
